Outstanding from us today, best team from start to finish and we just let Doncaster self-implode on themselves in the 2nd half by losing their heads completely to make it even more straight forward for us. Donny fans going way over the top on the ref… fail to see anything he got wrong personally, although I can’t comment on Anderson’s straight red as it was down the other end of the pitch with loads of bodies in the way. The lad for you Molyneux got probably the thickest sending off I’ve ever seen… mouthing off at ref about god knows what on the HT whistle, and then followed this up by shooting after flag had gone up to earn himself an early bath. Probably just frustrated that he couldn’t get a kick against Gordon tbh.

Our pen was a clear handball, and if we’re honest, 3,000 chesterfield fans screaming ‘handball’ simultaneously right infront of the referee probably made it an even easier decision to give. I saw a few complaints about the corner it led to being offside in the build up from us, but the Lino put his flag down and the ref played on because you’d won possession back, and it’s not the refs fault your left back then decided to boot the ball out for a corner whilst attempting to pass it back to the keeper.

Anyway in terms of the performance, as I said at the beginning of this post I thought we were comfortably the better side all afternoon. Dunkley & Araujo absolute brick walls at the back and dealt with everything aerially that Donny through at us. Naylor back in the midfield is a game changer for us. If there’s a better box to box midfielder in the league I’m yet to see him, absolute quality and will make a big difference for us now that he’s back where he belongs. Liked what I saw from Madden up top too, linked things very well and got himself a goal too, and he’s still nowhere near being fully fit as only his first start of the season. Main thing for me now is the squad depth we’ve got back available. Being able to bring on the likes of Colclough, Berry, Grigg etc… will make such a difference for us moving forward, as proven by the brilliant solo goal by Berry to seal the 3-0 win.

Our fans were incredible today too, obviously helped by the way our side were playing on the pitch too, but one of the best away atmospheres I’ve been involved in for a long time. Shame Donny didn’t give us more as the corners next to our away end were just left empty.

I’m going to assume that was an off day for Doncaster as I thought they looked hopeless in all honesty, but 11 home wins on the bounce before today obviously shows that’s not their normal level. The lack of discipline would be a major red flag for me if I was a rovers fan though. The way their players heads completely went was so unprofessional. Didn’t like Mccanns post match interview either… it’s a shame more aren’t like Paul Cook in the way he just speaks honestly no matter how we’ve played and credits the opposition when they’ve been better than us. All I heard from McCann was moaning about the ref, and how none of our goals should have stood blah blah… poor from him.

At home we're unbeaten this calendar year in the league so no reason to fear anyone at Priestfield but it's obviously a game to be wary of. We had a comfy 3-0 win in the spring against them as they imploded at the back end of last season, but they've got the better of us a couple of times as well in recent times so there isn't really any form to go on either in that regard. I don't expect a lot of goals in this one as it's the best defence v the 2nd best, but it'd be cracking to score a couple and win comfortably which we're more than capable of.

2-0 Gills.
Very happy to have been proven correct - sounded like a very straightforward victory. Still only 2 goals conceded in the league this season which is remarkable.

Good win, need to be winning games at home so to follow up Chesterfield was pleasing and another dominant performance, over 20 shots again. Should have been far more comfortable than it was, hit the post three times (twice in a few seconds), nearly went behind to their only real shot of danger in the game but it hit the post.

George Byers though… still no idea how we’ve got him, he’s levels above League Two and would probably walk into most L1 sides. Just effortless and controlled the game today and glad he got his first goal. He’s a cheat code.

Fairly wasteful which nearly cost us in the end all be it not sure why we played Hackford, we left much of our attacking talent on the bench in Curtis and Chis and no sign of BBB today.

Kyle John had another cracking game as well, lowest key of our permanent signings and he’s been superb.

Probably the worst Swindon side I’ve seen us face, just had nothing really about them, reminded me very much of our side under Aspin that finished 20th twice at this level and I can see why their fans are not happy at the minute, we looked set to unveil Kennedy before Moore got the gig if you believe the bookies so had a lucky escape there. It was mega negative from him today. Hopefully they sort themselves out as would be a shame to lose another traditional club to non league.

No trouble that I saw which was pleasing with the talk of their fans trying to buy tickets in our end and we are ticking along nicely and maybe slightly under the radar with 10 points from 12.

If that had been county it would of been a goal no fucking question no sending off fuck off I am the ref enjoy it you c***
You deserved a red, your hacked a couple of ours down and were doing it regularly as a tactic. Abbott especially had a tough time of it.
I've not yet seen a view where the ball is conclusively over the line so I'll give the ref and lino the benefit of getting a tight call right.

Poor game, we were terrible first half and not great the second. Morecambe were good for a point at least and I think you'll be staying up as long as Adams doesn't do a flit again.
We have to get Jatta back on the field, we've no real spearhead up front of pace to get in behind without him. He's a bigger miss than Jones for me.

If it had been us it would have been a goal for about 15 seconds and then the referee would make a guess and tell the linesman to stick his flag up.

Felt a tad sorry for Morecambe over that incident tbh especially as that would have been their first win but then quickly remembered the sheer number of fouls they did all game and the referee forgot he had cards in his pocket under injury time

I'm getting tired of watching some good footballers getting hacked down week in week out. We've gone from fouls being given for everything to now some pretty bad challenges being waved on. The refs shouldn't need instructing, they should just instinctively know the difference between a hard challenge and taking the ball and man out.

Amen brother. It's been a consistent every game this season. I've never seen anything like it before.

At the end of the day it's the League Two football fan that misses out. No Gambian Prince, no League Two best player.

They shouldn't let the thuggery win. My plea would be don't let Joe Average have that much impact on football.

That’s nonsense imo. Any club that spends the amount of money Carlisle have, expect to finish much higher than 3rd from bottom. Seems the players have similar attitudes though

Did you not see FGR last season or Salford.

Or was think it was notts c who were relegated with a squad on a lot of money. Or Colchester who seem able to lose millions a each season developing a terrible league two side.

Or when roddy collins got a large budget in 2003 to go and blow it all on a bunch of lazy incompetant alcoholics.

You can dish out good money, but if it’s wasted on a load of crap your in trouble because not only do you have a poor squad, the attitude can stink and on top of all that your lumbered with them because no other mug is paying what you are to take them off your hands.

Carlisle are currently in serious trouble and need to really get their January window spot in this time around or could be down, their only saving grace is Accrington and Morecambe who not only have poor squad but absolute zero budgets to do much about it…….but they both will show a lot more passion fight and heart than our lot currently will.

Morecambe will stay up I think. Not classy but well drilled, direct and committed.
I still don't think you're going down but once you're in a rut it can be tough to turn round. If we don't get Jatta back on the pitch you've every chance on Tuesday if we play like we did today.

We’ve been woeful but the officials have been worse, I’m sure the Chesterfield fans will be all over this but I’m not sure how you can put the flag up for offside then play on. Our keeper was hammered twice, both red card offences but only one yellow, every time a chesterfield player went down it was a free kick even if not touched. Don’t get me wrong we didn’t deserve anything but good grief they must be the worst officials we’ve ever had
Can only remember your keeper going down once, after Berry went for ball, and he rolled around like he’d been shot after barely being touched then jumped up to take free kick like nothing happened

Very concerning performance, we just don’t look remotely dynamic without Jatta and Jones. Just one-paced passing and a bunch of attacking players that flatter to deceive, nice touches in and around but no presence in the box.
Yeah we were fuckin rubbish. We’ve had a shit run with injuries but everyone can plead that sob story and it’s up to others to step up, which they never look liked doing today.

Looks suspiciously like it to me that our current position in the table is down to a kind fixture list rather than anything else. A midweek game a thankfully poor sounding Carlisle and a home game against improving Vale will be decent tests.

I should also add that 2 clean sheets out of 8 given our shiny new defence is crap as well.

This might have already been explained and I’ve missed it…

But why does Carver hate Grimsby so much?

Because a lot of their fans on here are a bunch of knobs and GTFCFish has always been an irritating little weirdo.

Even more irritating than you HG and that's saying something.

Dunno, eight conceded in eight games is fine. One a game gives you the joint best defence in the division last season.

We won’t keep loads of clean sheets I don’t think because we’re still playing in a way that gives up a fair amount of chances, but we have succeeded in getting it to a stage where we don’t look likely to ship three, four or five very often. Being highlighted more at the minute though because having to score two to win is more of a struggle with the players we have out, while ordinarily it isn’t really.

We didn’t keep a clean sheet today because we didn’t bother defending a corner and the ball ended up hitting Lee Angol a yard out. As you’ve said, we’re then chasing yet another game.

Conceding even 1 stupid goal when you’ve got low attacking threat doesn’t keep you near the top.

Very good point re. Style of play giving up chances regardless of the quality of the defenders. We’re in a similar boat to yourselves in terms of drastically improving our back line over the summer, and the defence has been far better as a result, but today was only our 2nd league clean sheet of the season. We haven’t conceded more than one goal in any game though, which given our style of play with wingbacks bombing on and being expansive etc, isn’t bad going I don’t think.

Thought we were very good today, sat off at times and waited for a break (first goal was excellent teamwork followed by a great throughball), second I couldn’t really see very well, but it killed the game off. Some of our play at times was very impressive. Thoroughly professional performance along with attacking subs even when we went 2-0 up.

Barrow are very competent, well drilled and I expect them to do well this season (genuinely hope they do too for Clemence), but they do lack a little up front.

A little harsh.

Low attacking threat today (zero first half in fact) but not this season. With our best striker out, our best player and our only ball winning midfield out it's not a huge surprise.

I hope Morecambe stay up, they showed plenty of fight and tenacity against us last Monday and were clearly not overawed playing County today. There's a local boxer who lives in the area who's worth a few bob, perhaps he could chip in.....

Surprised with Walsall to be honest. Their squad didn't look up to much in all honesty but they've done very well so far. Think Barrow have just had a good run and will drop off. Gillingham look strong.
Shhhh, we are actually crap, don't look over here.

Scott Lindsey’s first game in charge and the first away point of the season followed by the first away goal of the season. Progress and will take it in the circumstances aka 9 players out injured / suspended and only 2 days for the new boss to stamp his authority.

Thought Swindon were absolutely dreadful. All the stats point to us dominating the game, yet the scoreline suggests a close game. We were miles better than them but made it nervy. 5th in the league, 10 from 12, we're starting to tick.
Few chances for us but unlucky to hit the post and gifted you your second goal. Thought you looked a bit panicky at the end. Wouldn't get too excited if I were you.
