We have also conceded very little XG so far which is quite interesting and probably the biggest change from last season. Again it's early but in amongst the unconvincing performances there is some encouraging albeit early data

Held off praising our new defence as you need a bigger sample size and we’re yet to play what you’d call a ‘top team’ (Donny, MK, Gills, Vale etc…) but there’s a marked difference. About 3 times today there was a situation Bedeau defended where Cameron would have either lunged in or backed off until he was sat in the Kop and Bedeau looked far more composed and in control of the situation. Platt and Macari also just very solid and Bass looks a fantastic keeper.

More athleticism in midfield as well, the likes of Hinchy, Abbott and Edwards are just far more athletic than Bostock and O’Brien which allows us to defend transitions better.

Really like the look of Tsaroulla, I don’t think he’s as good as Nemane going forward and won’t beat as many players but he seems to symbolise the new balance we have whereby he’s still good on the ball and attack-minded but more able defensively

Definitely a positive start, but I don't think we've played anyone who will be top 7 yet which was our big issue last season. I'm not complaining, I think we needed this start to give the manager some confidence and the fans some confidence in the manager.
Yeah no question about that. The first 5 or 6 looked kind and that’s how they’ve turned out. We’ve always struggled at Bromley and Gills at home looks tough, so it definitely notches up a gear now.

Was Wright being good just an elaborate long term ruse that the Lincoln fans started working on ages ago to get us excited?

Draw would have been a fair result today in my opinion. A bit ridiculous that Chesterfield went into half time 2-0 up but for all the pressure we exerted we didn't create loads but were still comfortably better until they scored. The red card ended up working against us as it forced Chesterfield into a more defensive formation and we haven't figured out how to break teams down at all yet. Go ahead against and we may as well blow the whistle right now. I'd have preferred Chesterfield to keep coming at us to get a third.

Artell's comments about not being arsed about training for defensive set pieces and defensive training being easy are looking completely and utterly stupider and stupider as the weeks and mistakes continue. If we could sort the defence out we'd be a half decent side.

Chesterfield a bit more cloggery than I was expecting tbh. Midtable for them if that's their standard. Imagine they've got a bit more about than they showed today though.
I think when they get their better players back they will challenge top 7 , I like Cook as a manager tbf he seems to actually tell it like it is .

I was impressed with their keeper today he did the basics well .
Wright did come with a lot of good reviews , and I think he could be a good standard keeper- but with the ball he's awful distribution wise which I find baffling in terms of recruitment and the way Artell wants to play.

I've got a feeling we'll get our first league defeat of the season at Donny to be honest, they're the team to beat for me. No Ehmer is a worry, he's normally pretty good at handling the experienced, wily forwards in this league and Sharp may be too clever for Ogie and McKenzie on the day, he clearly still has plenty to offer.
It was Hawkins rather than McKenzie, but I was pretty much bang on.

No dramas, 10 points from 5 is still a good start with half a first team missing and a reasonably tough start fixture-wise. Slight concern that after our opening day victory over Carlisle we've only scored twice in 4 league games, a worrying return to the trend of previous seasons. Hopefully that'll turn soon with most of our attacking players now at least training if not actually fit yet.

Fair play to Donny, better than us in the first half and got ahead, then did what they had to do to manage the game nicely in the second - we didn't look like scoring despite a lot of the game being played in Donny's half in the last 20 minutes. A good, streetwise side who will do well.

I don't like Smith, but he's been hard done to here. If you stop the video and scroll through frame by frame, you'll see Vassell's head snap back before any contact is made, then Smith's elbow comes into view a split second later. Vassell has conned the ref completely, which is not surprising given that's what he does.

Cook is class mate we’re lucky to have him. He was very complimentary of you lot pre and post game too, just a proper football man that says it how it is. I enjoyed listening to Artells to in his scathing assessment of the referee too… can see a hefty fine coming his way but I still enjoyed it.

Also interesting you mentioned Boot there. I was one saying I didn’t actually want Tyrer back (our number 1 last year who was on loan from Everton) on our messageboard cos even last season I felt Boot was the ‘safer’ keeper when he played. He’s not extraordinary in terms of plucking one out the top corner, but he does all the basics so well and he’s just such a calm figure. Give me a calm and consistent keeper every day of the week over one that’s got the capability to do the extraordinary but then also a moment of madness too.

Another one of Greg Abbott’s master strokes from when he was our manager. Cook was banging them in for our academy. Got a pro contract but Greg never gave him a single chance and released him.

Abbott seems to have released quite a few strikers who went on to do Wells.

Yeah I’d almost forgot about Nahki. Then there’s Ryan Bowman and Paddy Madden as well.

One of my pet hates in modern football is the celebration in front of and general winding up of opposition fans when a goal is scored. Why not celebrate with your own fans?

Imagine my delight when Wildigg and whoever set him up both celebrated at our fans, only to find themselves on a 4-1 hiding. Just don't do it boys, it makes you look stupid.

A lot of that goes on at VP. Running to the kop with a shush gesture. Very strange.

We were poor again today, especially first half, but can't knock another last minute winner. 3 of our 5 games have now been won/lost in added time.
Awful first half, but we were much better in the second (if not great). Other than one free-kick in the second half, Harrogate really didn't look like they had anything to offer.

A game that could easily have finished 0-0 but for one quality ball from Luke Young and a bullet header from Tom Bradbury.

A win is a win as they say.

We spanked Walsall 5-0 last time…I think not this time, though I do think we’ll win as we are at home. 2-1.
Close, 1-0.

Could and should have been 2-0/3-0 but we don’t shoot enough and when we do it’s crap.

Only disappointment was 61.4% possession. Not good enough compared to previous games.

Artell gaslighting the Grimsby fans with comments about domination again? Grimsby fans need to just watch the games and come to their own conclusions, they are a knowledgeable fanbase and should form their own opinions IMO.

I liked the way the scoreboard operator at Newport agreed with mu assessment of their second senseless sending off by putting Seriously Nutty on the scoreboard.

Stocky's Artell okie cokie in full swing now. Looking forward to you saying you might be wrong about him again next week when we win.

Not seen yesterday's game Codsy and not drawn any further conclusions on Artell. A narrow defeat away at a good Chesterfield side is not evidence either way.

I'm just saying the Grimsby fans should go on what they see and not listen to his comments (or most managers comments) because they tend to sugarcoat it.

Notts County looked the much better side in the SKY game that I saw as most Grimsby fans have acknowledged.

Much the better side but nevertheless fortunate on 4 significant occasions. The 4 goals Grimsby conceded.

I have no beef with Grimsby, but you’re not getting away with claiming you were ‘probably the better side on balance’ because a couple of our goals should’ve been disallowed haha.
I missed this one last night. Absolute drivel. There hasn't been a single Town fan on The Fishy let alone on here that has suggested that we deserved anything from that match.

Massive Notts-on-TFF vibes to go and make the Chesterfield v Grimsby post-match all about them because they haven't won 8-3 this weekend.

I personally haven't listened to him yet but you're right, he is a massive sugarcoater. We did play well for periods yesterday though, especially right out of the blocks. Artell's Town continue to impress and disappoint in equal measure. Would be nice if he acknowledged the flaws a bit more.

By far the worst we've played so far very poor we looked clueless particularly in the first half.
