That Reynolds is only using Wrexham's name for exposure.
Heard they're looking to buy the ground. Clearly the end game for Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney here is to knock the stadium down to build a film studio in North Wales.

It seems that the local council turned up at Alty's ground the other week and inspected it. As a result, large parts of the ground have been closed until repairs are completed.

Tonight's FA Cup 1st round replay has a capacity of 1390, with one whole side and one whole end of the ground closed.

Should we get through this game, I'm not sure what will happen when Charlton Athletic and ITV turn up for the next round.

Grounds are inspected before the season starts, council, fire safety, environmental health etc... The certificates are then given out so clubs can start the season, what happened at Altrincham? Some councillors that don't like the club questioned the original decision to let the ground pass the inspections and came back for another look?

Be interesting if Southend council ever took this approach with the club because we'd be looking to groundshare somewhere tomorrow if they didn't just have their cursory look around and sign the ground off as safe.

I agree. It stinks of the council not giving a fuck at the start of the season and now backtracking furiously cos there is a sniff of Alty being in the spotlight with a presumably larger than normal crowd.

88' Red Card, then no red card...The referee brandishes a second yellow for Connor Johnson.

One issue, Connor Johnson hasn't been booked in this game. Quickly rectified and Johnson remains on the pitch

CHO 3 - 1 KET

We had that a few years ago in an FA Cup tie at Canvey island. That complete idiot Trevor Kettle, gave a player who hadn't been booked a second yellow and sent him off, then had to correct the decision when it was pointed out to him that he'd got it wrong, by the players , both benches and the other officials. All on TV too lol.

Does anyone know if there is a maximum age for an EFL ref? Kettle should have been pensioned off (sacked) years ago for pure incompetence but I played cricket at school with him and he was 2 years above me so he must be at least 54 pushing 55.

He was a massive arrogant prick then by the way, in case you were interested

Yes, distinctly fishy IMO.

Anyway, Charlton and ITV problem solved this evening.....

Wonder why I am not surprised!

I thought it was 55 for retirement as a Football League Ref, which means he must be fast approaching that mark by your reckoning.

Just hope he can't re-appear at this level!!

They deserve to enjoy it to be honest.
Its the first round of the FA Cup, act like you've been there before. I agree with others that County fell so low and are so tinpot now they acted like they had won the cup itself.

It went a bit too far. That goal was a classic mini-pitch invasion moment IMO, few spilling on to mob the goalscorer then everyone back off.

In my head there’s a weird formula for when FA Cup pitch invasions are acceptable. I reckon a part-time team beating a league team, and then for full-time teams it has to be beating a top flight one.

It was a bit tinpot, but in the context of the game, and versus a local rival two divisions higher, it was just about acceptable. I'd like to think our fans knew better, but I'm kidding myself...had we beaten say Wednesday at home under the same circumstances, I'd probably have been on there too.

Can't find a video of it but the guy trying to stick the corner flag back in after the pitch invasion subsided at Stockport last night definitely belongs in here.

I've heard it on good authority that Stockport College are planning to introduce 'how to push a stick into a hole' foundation courses some time in the new year.

Was just about to post summat similar; if it was Chesterfield or Grimsby winning a 5-3 thriller against a L1 Wednesday or Forest, you can see kids and daytrippers on the pitch too. I'm a bit old for it now but won't begrudge others their fun.

Worth it for 1) dozens of stolen 'emirates' ads being waved around Castle St afterwards, 2) some absolute terminator who needed a dozen police & stewards to be held down, and 3) the opportunity for Challinor to channel his inner Clough and slap some fans around. Suppose we should be grateful he didn't have visions of one of them looking like Martin Pringle.

Wednesday or Forest for us? Give over. We've beaten Forest 4-3 in relatively modern times and beaten Wednesday plenty of times in my life. We've knocked cup holders out at BP before and not invaded the pitch.

We're much more likely to do something like invade the pitch having won a playoff semi and then bottle the final. That's the Grimsby way.

What was that bloke who got held down even doing!?! They were trying to cut away from it on the tele but you could see a whole mass of fluorescent jackets desperately struggling with him.

Yeah, I reckon you lot can be forgiven for sinking down that extra level anyway. Glad you all had a lovely night, was a cracker of a match.

I guess Hull would be the equivalent for us?

Blundell Park pitch invasions I can remember off the top of my head in my life are:
Exeter '91: Last day auto promotion and my second ever match.
Spurs '06: League Cup 3rd (?) Round win.
Eastleigh '15: Playoff semi win before losing to Bristol Rovers in the final on sudden death.

I've probably missed one or two, I think?
