In the 1986/7 season the likelihood of Burton Albion getting to Wembley was remote, however they did just that and got to the FA Trophy final. This caused me something of a problem as I had booked a 2 week holiday for me and the misses. No worries I just told her the holiday was off and I was going to Wembley with the lads as it was probably the only time we will ever get there. Didn't listen to her answer and promptly went down the old Eton Park ground and booked 22 tickets for the match !
Are you still married to her ... although I suspect not?

Thurnby Nirvana are no more, sadly they have changed to the very slightly less tinpot Leicester Nirvana, though it is a tinpot change in and of itself taking the place name of the closest city rather than the real location.

Confirmation that the good old days of wingers flashing past full-backs is over.

Spend 13K on a new ground and leave the oak tree there. Yeah right. Full story here - http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/row-zed/romanian-village-spends-12700-new-5964265

PS - I know this is not British football related, but I'm sure any prospective author will find overseas tinpottedness equally fascinating for the book's final chapter. Sure hope said author gives us all a mention in the book's credits!

I noticed the exiled Northwich Villa have now gone from being named Northwich Flixton Villa to Northwich Manchester Villa too, which is staggeringly tinpot. They had pretty much nil support while in Northwich itself, and the distance from Northwich to Manchester central is basically the same as from Halifax to Skipton, or Halifax to Barnsley.

You're going to have to use better measurements than the distances between northern pit villages. I'm none the wiser, sorry.

That photo reminds me of the time I was playing in the Ashbourne and District summer league. I was a speedy striker in those days and knocked the ball past the full back on one side and ran round him on the opposite side only to find that the ball had been held up in a giant thistle ! Tackled by a thistle unbeleavable !

Ever thought of writing a book about your football experiences Terraceman? Obviously, your stories wouldn't all fit in one volume, so you'd have to put out a trilogy, but I reckon it will be a very good read :ohy:

Cheers for that vanni ! I've been blessed with a remarkable memory ! A lot of my mates can't believe details from past adventures that I can remember. As for a book, just don't have enough time. I could tell you about the Subbuteo match that was crumbed off coz fatty morris stuffed his face with biscuits and coughed them up all over the pitch ! I digress, all the best mate.

Partick Thistle are on their way to gaining notoriety in tinpot circles now, as a request put on social media by the club asking their fans to put up young players in their spare rooms suffered a backlash and was subsequently taken down.

... You want to see a picture of Kingsley again, don't you?

I thought I'd chip in with something from our end - we employ a load of 19/20 year-olds as stewards:

"A Barnet FC steward told the court he was 'terrified' when he was beaten with an inflatable shark: 'It was only my second football game".

And today - "Grimsby Town fan Ken Meech has been found guilty of assaulting a Barnet steward with an inflatable shark at a match in February".

If it wasn't for your stewards the Barnet steward would never have been assaulted with an inflatable shark. Your stewards have a lot to answer for.
