Well I decided to create a Southern League thread in the hopes that we might get some fans passing by stop in to chat about it.

I know my main club doesn't really belong here, but have been really entertained by this thread for many months and when the Sun reported that we were interested in signing former Ajax captain Ekstra Bladet, nobody could find any info about him on the usual sites. After enquiries at the local paper, we realised that the elite journos at the "best newspaper in Britain" had surpassed even their usual incredibly low standards....our new centreback is going to be ..................a Danish newspaper.....bit worried how he's going to do in the rain

That's a strange one, I guess you sometimes get players injured in warm ups but not coming onto the pitch! By the way it doesn't count as a substitute because the injured player never started the game. The starting 11 just changes and 3 subs can still come up on.

Yeah, wasn't sure because the stadium announcer introduced Vaughan as if he were a substitute, and because it was done after the match kicked off (also, I think Tranmere didn't make the full 3 subs then?)

He got concussion during the warm up... clash of heads or something... but we sent him on to start anyway. It was obvious he was struggling, so Brabin pulled him before the first whistle. It didn't count as a sub because the game hadn't kicked off.

Ever since we nearly folded in 1986, I've regarded the "smaller" clubs as the heart that keeps the game alive ...people like Hartlepool and Billingham Synthonia rallied round and allowed us to use their ground for training and even fixtures and the so-called big boys just tried to poach players for ridiculous offers...the up side was we developed a youth system that has been consistently good and we were able to sign Gary Pallister from Billingham in exchange for some new kits...so keep dreaming, get a chairman who doesn't regard the club as a money machine and you never know
