Buxton is a good footballer, he is just slow......and a touch heavy. Starting with him and McNulty on the same side of the pitch against a team with pace was a disaster waiting to happen. They are both better in a back three, or with a midfield three in front of them.

Our budget wasn't even top third. FGR, Tranmere, Eastleigh, Barrow, York (oops) Dagenham, Wrexham and Guiseley all had bigger budgets back in August.
Master D's mate Cowley is a genius!

Palios saying Tranmere have a 'Top Third' budget next season? Well what does that mean? We probably had a top third budget last year and it was probably about half what Tranmere apparently spent. Budget cut?
He said it last year too to be fair. His thinking is that in football, you usually finish roughly where you would be in the 'budget league'. Of course, there can be exceptions, like Braintree or York, but for the most part you end up roughly where your finances allow you. If you have a top third budget, you'll be around the playoffs most years and thus, he presumes, keep your crowds.
Well, we've finished 6th and 2nd in his first two years in charge (the club was his in name only in L2) and crowds have held, so he's pretty spot on so far. Our budget is pretty large, no doubt about it, but we've also got the biggest crowds and had one of the most expensive ticket prices (Orient and Hartlepool - get in the real world FFS). Surely we should be near the top in terms of budget - we are expecting £6m turnover this season.

Wind-up post, surely. Without getting into a lame old "your budget is bigger than ours" debate, Lincoln were pretty well financed right from the beginning of last summer. And Guiseley must be nudging the bottom of the division in terms of budget!

I reckon we'll be looking at two of the promoted teams outspending everyone else in the division, with the possible exception of Tranmere, so we're all bumped down the list a little bit this year.

Our budget will be around top 6-8, though I think this time a January spend might actually materialise if things are going okay.

It would obviously have been top third, although initially, Cowley's budget was actually smaller than Moyses. That was reflected in the squad size, or lack of. Budget and squad size only increased on the back of the cup games in January, hence the likes of Angol, Knott and Ginnelly coming in.

Selling Margetts in August financed, in the main, the Raggett and Whitehouse fees. We took a bit of a gamble on the tribunal for Raggett but that was well worth it and Whitehouse was signed in October.

We then sold Robinson to Southend in January and that more than paid for the small Angol loan fee we paid. Robinson was on non-contract terms but Southend left it so late to sign him that they paid us to waive the 7 day approach.

The biggest relief for us is not having to compete against moneybags Guiseley any more :D

Same. They managed to sign James Wesolowski after we'd been in for him but couldn't afford him. Very frustrating at the time but we dipped into the loan market instead and all worked out in the end

My early prediction is that Dover may well struggle this time round. They have about as bad a defence as us, I'd assume Miller is off if he hasn't already left since his contract has expired, and they've just gone from a situation where they were relative moneybags to all local rivals to one where Ebbsfleet have a higher budget and both us and Bromley are going full time.

Miller to Posh, Modeste to Billericay and Emanuel/Lafayette to Sutton. They signed a striker from Southport.

It's the defence that needs strengthening but their attacking threat has been ripped to shreds. Considering CK replaced the lost players last season, you'd be mad to rule it out again, but I think it's a step too far for them this time.

Whilst we have a very settled squad, we lack depth. Kedwell could retire/not play as much and Bradley Bubb is out until December. McLean and Drury are also knocking on a bit.

Can't see us signing too many, but we definitely need to sign 4 or 5 new players.

It was clear from the start last summer that they were gambling and Going For It™, especially when that random dodgy South African bloke turned up out of nowhere.

You only had to see the players they were 'attracting' but it was a great decision because it worked for them. Probably recouped most of their budget back off the FA Cup run.

This was also evident when they signed Simeon Akinola.

I kinda see how you can afford full time but Bromley?! 'Kin hell.

It might work out for Dover though - best of part time vs dregs of full time.

Bromley get rent from Cray Wanderers who share there, and also Palace reserves/ladies I think. Decent money coming in.

Our manager has today said that our budget will be dwarfed by many clubs in this league, he also said tranmere have 34 pros on their books and we will start the season with 18. Not sure how true that is but there you go

Honestly, I just like to get rid of the unread threads. If there's something I'll reply to I will. And stuff like that I'll always reply to. It's like seeing a new FGR in the conference. Bosses and owners trying to deny they have a big budget.

And yes we lost in the playoffs don't see how it's relevant really.

Nobody is denying we have a big budget. Every time I post you have to follow it up with some witty remark. You must sit there scanning this forum for my name. Get out there and enjoy life. There's a big wide world out there and you'd rather spend all of your time on here being a moron but if that's what makes you happy you crack on

Money clubs denying they're spending a shit load.

We're in the same boat, but we all admit we spend more than most, although the majority of our squad are non-league standard, hardly 'done a Crawley' in terms of signing a load of players from L1 and 2. Not so say we won't sign a couple now mind, although the first rumour I've heard is that we're signing a striker from the Conference South.

Are Ebbsfleet full time Joe? In fact how many sides in this division are still part time?

We train three mornings a week, and some of our players still have jobs on the side, mainly coaching or personal training. We're "in between part time and full time" apparently. Not sure on your second question, although I believe Bromley and Maidstone are going/have gone full time. Can't be many part time sides.

I say we're signing, I've heard we're interested! Danny Mills from Whitehawk.

A few Gillingham fans seem to think we're after Cody Mcdonald, but I've heard absolutely nothing our end. I can't see it.

We attempted to sign Nigel Atangana (twice, first time when he was at Havant), but he opted to sign for Orient.
