To early has anybody made a signing.
Here is my view on promoted two.
Think Stockport might be a bit lower,Warburton was a massive player for them and will find it hard to replace.
Chorley have a very strong defence but up a division should be tested a lot more.didnt think they had much going forward but good at set pieces.
Neither will make top 10 but won’t struggle.
Harrogate and Salford were better teams when came up year before.

The rules are that you get drawn away to a promoted team 1st game and get beat 3-0
Or you win the League in August like Chesterfield did after winning their first three games.

they were a one off i think - impressive until we played them in that 4th game and broke their air of invincibility so bad it was about game 20 before they won again.

unless Ebbsfleets players get paid we could be looking at 2 AGM Cup winners

My early take is that Chesterfield will win the league, but that is because I believe them to have the best manager and they will no doubt throw a bit of money at it this time. More than ourselves anyway.
Our budgets been slashed by around 30% versus last season. Still think we will have enough to have a better go than we did last season. Finally getting the crap from League 2 off the wage bill

when is your retained list out by the way - are you keeping Dior Angus?

I think we'll find out tomorrow. Players have already been informed. I think we will try to keep Angus but he'll be a backup and therefore (if I were him) I would rather sign for a National League side to be first choice (like yourselves).

Ticket prices announced, gone up two quid to £18. I thought there'd be more consternation but looking around the league that still seems to be the going rate or cheaper for covered seating

edit - my mistake it's a £3 increase. That's going to eat into the current goodwill from the fans

Teams for next season are currently:

AFC Fylde
Barnet
Barrow
Boreham Wood
Bromley
Chesterfield
Chorley
Dagenham & Redbridge
Dover Athletic
Eastleigh
Ebbsfleet United
FC Halifax Town (est. 2008)
Gateshead
Harrogate Town
Hartlepool United
Maidenhead United
Notts County
Solihull Moors
Stockport County
Sutton United
Torquay United
Woking
Wrexham
Yeovil Town

Gateshead may well step aside to allow Aldershot back into the league. No team here stands out for me before signings are made, but I suspect ourselves, Fylde, Chesterfield, Solihull and Notts County will be amongst the favourites. There will also be 2 separate leagues taking place this time with the brotherhood table being contested between 6 sides and the Magpie cup, which will be competed between Notts County, Chorley and Maidenhead. Good luck to all who aren't Fylde, Boreham Wood or Solihull!

You should be favourites, got to be the highest budget in the league

Are you talking to yourself?

Chesterfield should be up there Wrexham, Fylde, Harrogate should at least trouble the play offs again. Fylde should be competing for top 3 if Rowe stays. Barnet, Yeovil and Bromley should be competing too. Hartlepool too although they seem to like mid table. Notts County have that classic chaos at the top thing league teams who don't do well their first season have.

Our budget last season was 750k.
As I've said it was another season we over achieved. We have an excellent manager that will no doubt have us up near the top of the league again

Our highest earner is on, at most, £1.2k. Rowe will be on more than double that. Everyone knows you're bankrolled to buggery, just embrace it while it lasts. It'll all end in tears.

I really struggle to believe that Fylde's budget was only 50k more than ours.

Rowe isnt on more than double that. More yes, not double.

You only have to look at that retained list to see who's spunking fortunes. Yet to see one squad on there smaller than ours. Which begs the question, how badly managed are these clubs. Take Wrexham for example. Budget at a guess, 900k. 26/27 players. Been here 11 years. Just reaks of piss poor management but they're far from being the only ones. Sure I counted one of the sides on it with more than 30 players. Ridiculous

From what I gather 750k is around average for the league. Our owners say ours is around average but we're getting about triple their crowds so that says there's bankrolling even HSBC would be proud of there.

I know we're badly managed, most of our fans realise this. We haven't had a rich benefactor who didn't seek to destroy the club the whole time we've been down here so we may be a bit handicapped in that regard compared to every club that's gone up in the last 5 years with the exception of maybe Macclesfield and Cheltenham, the latter being helped out by the improved parachute payment. Fylde have the budget to go up, and everyone in here except you realises that. I'm sure most also realise that you are a well managed club.

They will probably win the league, seen this sort of thing many, many times before down here. Team in disarray, then hires a quality manager halfway through the season to lay the groundwork for the promotion the following year. Will be keeping an eye on recruitment as that will tell us straight away whether they'll do it or not.

And of course they get a £250k headstart on everyone else apart from Notts County, Yeovil & Barnet.

Wouldn't worry about Barnet, they'll be getting relegated.

Isn't the parachute payment halved in the second year?

That is half. The fact relegated L2 clubs are going to have a £500k headstart for getting relegated is a bad joke.

We've made some poor decisions, we've had some bad luck. We also almost went bust a couple of times at the start, so we've been playing catch up for a while. There are plenty of we'll documented reasons we've been down here so long.

We now generate all the money we spend. Why won't you accept that Fylde are hugely bankrolled? It's perverse.

We wasted the first 15 games of this season so will certainly be play offs next year, expecting some big signings from us soon enough. Currently have a solid spine, when we add 5/6 more we’ll have an outside chance of winning it. If Wilkinson stays he will be top scorer but only if Rowe jumps ship.
