From the highlights I see dodgy Sam Allison was up to tricks again yesterday, seemingly blowing his whistle non-stop and giving another 2 soft penalties in the Sutton v Gateshead match.

I think people forget we are watching the fifth tier. The very bottom rung of professional football.

L2 is the bottom rung of professional respectablity.

This National League thing is where failed clubs belong, like a jail sentence, all indefinite terms, just some longer than others. They remain pro, get gates better than some tinpot bandits in. L2 and look on enviously and with regret, but being sentenced down here no longer entitles us to think that we in any way are part of what we were.

The standard of refereeing sadly doesn't get any better in League 2, the 3 pens given in our game yesterday were all players barely being touched theatrically chucking themselves on the ground and the ref fell for every one.

To take your analogy to its logical conclusion, this league is also the promised land for petty criminals and borstal boys like Guiseley and Maidenhead who dream of mixing it with the baddies in grown up prison. While other like Maidstone and Bromley seem happy to be institutionalised long term. A few serial offenders like York and Torquay are doomed to a downward spiral into the gutters of football.

This.

Perhaps marginally better in that they play advantage from time to time, but on the whole, little difference. Even the ones who were shite at NL level end up with a gig in L2. Take Anthony Backhouse at the weekend who reffered us. Absolutely terrible (although our record under him is P6 W6!).

State of the Eastleigh player that goes down from a throw-in, in the highlights.

Much better performance on Saturday. We'd have won our first home game in 15, but for missed chances.

So basically you're saying you would have won if you'd scored a goal or two. Have you anything else that is bleeding obvious, to say? :fl:

Of all the things I dislike about this league, the unpunished play acting is the worst. It's shameless.

How funny was it on sat when the 2 barrow players forgot whos turn it was to go down and they were both sprawled out on the deck at either sides of the penalty area after being crunched by the ghost.... no wonder the ref played 11 minutes injury time over the two halves

Wasn't at yesterday's game, but I've watched the highlights now and can't for the life of me see what was wrong with Harrison's goal that was disallowed (it's in the first minute of this video)

Despite our league position, it doesn't feel like we're doing too badly, just the odd bit of bad luck here and there. Like a lot of teams will probably say, we could be five or six points better off if things had gone our way.

Annoyingly, I think Guiseley might be up for Tuesday's game a bit more than they would have been pre-Cox.
The goal was disallowed for offside I think. There is a lad standing in front of the keeper in an offside position when Harrison heads in. Our commentary mentioned that the linesman's flag was raised.
