Criteria-wise, it's just the matter of putting in some crush barriers and a few minor alterations. Personally, I think we struggle with big away attendances, so that would need looking at.
that's easy - just give away teams the minimum number of tickets we have to. The crush barriers need to be in by late February - but will be done by the end of January,

You know I said there is now way we are going down. Yeah, mistake. We are absolutely shit. We have to avoid defeat next up against Chesterfield. Massive game for us. Favourites to win the league and we're 3rd from bottom
You’ll buy/loan players until you’re on promotion form I’m sure.

If you do somehow go down can we have Walker back and we’ll take Williams off your hands as well.

Aldershot (and Boreham Wood, apparently )
Predicted a draw at the Rec today, but not 3-3. It was little to do with attacking prowess, but incompetence of both sets of defenders.
Shots have lost loanees Hunt and Powell ,and replacements are urgently required . Chorley have apparently imported 3 new players, and played some decent football, but were too soft at the back.
At least it was entertaining .

Mmm ive always preferred these all in one match threads instead of the individual ones we usually have in League 2 but after reading through this one if Barrow do come up I’ll personally be creating them their own separate match thread every fucking week.

Lucky to come away with the clean sheet and a point this afternoon.

I came into today’s game thinking the signings we made this week were underwhelming and that we looked stronger a few weeks ago and now I’m convinced that was the case.

We badly miss Walker’s quality and Rodney’s pace and power and we don’t seem to have rectified that with our additions so far.

Can’t fault Archer’s effort but I don’t believe he’ll be an upgrade on Bell even when he becomes match fit - I’m hoping he’s a stop gap until we can get better just before/after the window closes.

I watched lots of McAlinden in highlights yesterday and he looks a composed finisher and tidy on the ball but has very little in the way of pace and power. If he’s not scoring or assisting he doesn’t seem to add much and he doesn’t strike me as a Jim Gannon player.

Clarke was the signing on paper I was happier with but he started the game awfully. You could see flashes of why Tranmere fans rated him so highly so fingers crossed he’ll get better.

If we want to have a chance of making the playoffs we will need a good few marquee signings in the next few weeks.

Wow can't believe that, a decent performance, promising debuts and a win. We will still get battered by Harrogate.

More importantly Barrow won for the 89th time this season.

Any of those young loanees you mentioned play?

Not loanees. Both permanent. Dan Jarvis, the lad we got from Stoke, started and played very well, he got the second goal. Davis Keillor Dunn came on for him around the hour mark and also looked decent. Promising signs.

That won’t be cheap, and ours cost about 50 grand a year to test for safety. Also, is the end at the changing room end of the ground stepped? If it’s not, you won’t be able to use that, that’s why we had the close the High Street end at the Rec. judging by the Tv pictures the changing rooms will need work, we had to do a lot with ours when we went up. Also facilities for away fans will need to change, they are pretty strict on the in the FL.

Yes, that end is stepped, though one of the corners isn't. Again, not sure what the plan is with changing rooms, but the club seems satisfied that they've ticked all the boxes. They'll probably have 12 months to make the changes that are required.

We were heading for an ugly win against Chorley until Tinkler decided he was a goalkeeper and saved a shot that was allegedly heading wide. Red card and a converted penalty later, and 2 points have been dropped.

Need a couple of defenders in by the weekend but other than that we are ok

when we played Chorley a couple of weeks ago, they looked like the most limited team going forward I’ve seen in the conference for many years. How did you concede 3 to them?!

You might ask the Same about us and Wrexham though.

View attachment 12432This picture has been doing the rounds on twitter. If that's the actual state of the pitch at the moment I can't even see us finishing the season at home. We haven't even had that much bad weather this year so far. Disgraceful
The photo quality is that of a Kodak wind-up camera!

We're getting a hammering on social media and tbh we deserve it. Anyone could see the pitch was headed this way right from the start of pre-season where it was still bare in places. This was an inevitable incident at some point this side of 2020, regardless of the large amount of rain we've had + extra matches played on it.

It's all kicking off with the morons on the Facebook groups and forums, who are getting comical with their whining and aggression over things (If I had a pound for every time I've read a borderline racist post bemoaning 'Indian' weddings - would they call them British weddings if it were Sarah and Dave from down the bingo getting married?). But there are huge issues with the club at heart - all of the wrong decisions are being made. We currently have our first team, London Bees and Spurs women teams playing on the pitch - why have we authorised 3 matches a week to be on it? I know Spurs would've paid us well to use it, but we've sacrificed too much for that money. It was a poor call.

We have many problems that do not grow into bigger ones thanks to the chairman - but he also creates so many of his own causing. We've been searching all season for suitable players to sign - no-one wants to sign for us because of TK. We have a pitch not worth housing pigs on. Dwindling attendances because he is unable to offer a sensible pricing structure to entice old and new fans alike, and staff leaving every month because they're treated like arse and paid likewise.

But then I guess these are just the death throes of a club that won't be around in 5-10 years time.

Dover just played like any away team. Notts Co’s fault for hardly looking like scoring.

You're a class above the Solihull I watched over Christmas, worked hard and deserved your point but the ref could have played 15 extra minutes, the time wasting was excessive and blatant.

The transfer situation is ridiculous. So many clubs in this division make double or triple loan signings on a Friday afternoon, and use the loan system to respond to injuries - we just don't. It was so so obvious the Taylor money wasn't going to be spent any time soon and I'm pretty much resigned to us not making any more signings until the summer. A lot of people think everything will be fine once we've had a summer clear out, but why would we be able to fill a squad over the summer when we are so sluggish in the transfer market now?

We (like you) have not made any January signings - although we have not lost a player like you though..

That's quite unusual for a club going for the league, usually you need to bring in a player or two to freshen everything up and give you that edge to tip you over the line. You seem to have been quite lucky with injuries this year (I may be wrong about that but seems like everyone has been for in the main).

in the main - although our captain Josh Granite has been out for most of the last 3 months and Jason Taylor was out for about 6 weeks and is still having to play in a Zorro mask. Brough has been out twice for 2-3 weeks - but otherwise (so far) we've been fairly lucky

Agreed.

I understand that we have FFP limitations and I understand that we would want to hold a decent portion back for the Summer window due to the end of us receiving parachute payment money (and I think there's an end to money received for funding the academy) - so I get that we won't see all of it reimbursed. I understand that we have a large, overpaid squad (when compared to their ability) and to be fair, we have been trying to get rid of them for a long time (Boucard was one of our highest earners, so that's positive).

But like I keep saying, we do have some money to spend and why aren't spending it isn't due to DC being picky, it's due to us having a ridiculously small pool of potential players, clubs and agents to work from as TK has burned so many bridges in the football world. Everyone knows him for what he is - untrustworthy, renegades on deals (sometimes when players are in the building to sign!), extremely tight and often just rude and time-wasting. We can't sign people not because they're not available (look at the players joining teams like Eastleigh etc who realistically, we should be able to compete with using available funds) but because their agent or the player won't deal with TK due to past experience.

So yes, while I hold out hope of putting together a better squad in the summer (DC managed to get Dunne and Loach despite the chairmans reputation) it will not be anywhere near what we could potentially collect.

I also suspect that we will have substantial work done to the pitch this summer which I know TK will take from the transfer kitty to fund.

Just a shit situation allround. In 6 years time I'll probably be watching Brentford on my Saturdays as BFC won't exist.

On behalf of football fans in general and Barrow fans in particular;- Please win next week and help send Fylde down
They rode the wave of disaffected Blackpool supporters for a few years but now that's over they've been left stranded, high and dry on the wrong beach, with no way off except the way they came in. You can smell the decay already. The fans who were only along for the ride are already looking to hitch rides elsewhere, the 2 or 3 hundred (yeah, I'm being generous, I know) who support the club from the heart will be swept away with the carcass, all the way back to the North West Counties, when the tide comes back in again for them. :ds:

The safety stuff with have to be done before the start of the season, or you will have to close those areas off. Stuff like changes to dressing rooms etc you’ll get a year for, and if you need to add seats or anything to get the standing/seat percentage right you’ll get three years. I believe there are still grants from the FL to get this done, it can be a lot of work. Also, your floodlights will need to meet FL standards, ours are excellent and meets Champions League standards but they’re not good enough should we ever get promoted!

We put new floodlights in a few years ago because the old ones were crumbling. They look shit but we were told they were FL standard - I know we got grants for them.
There are plans for more seats already, so that will probably be a job for this summer, and we're putting in a new bar alongside that big box behind the goal - I don't know if that will free up some space for dressing rooms to be moved or extended. Luckily we have the luxury of space around the ground to play with - as you say, the issue will be funding it all.
