Hard to tell if the Wrexham defender got the ball or not but what it definitely should not have been was a straight red, because it was a genuine attempt to play the ball and the penalty was awarded. Therefore under the new rules brought in a year or two ago it should have been a penalty and a yellow if it was deemed to be a foul. As for the other red I can only assume that Carrington (??) said something to the referee which you can't afford to do when already booked. The first yellow is a little harsh but i've seen them given when a player leads with the arm (Robson-Kanu got a straight red for something similar in West Brom's match yesterday).

It's a strange one regarding Sam Allison, because he is one of the better referees we had last season, and was excellent last weekend (played a lot of advantage, only got cards out when really needed), although the fact that we won 4-0 and 6-0 in those games probably helped. Maybe his inconsistency is why he didn't get promoted to the FL with the likes of Craig Hicks.

When you can't score even with 70% possession every game and the best strikers in the division. The Tranmere way.

We should not have lost yesterday. We missed three or four good chances before Eastleigh's opener, Cook and Norwood both missing sitters. Some of our football was very good at times. Difficult to know how to change things round, as the players are clearly good enough and we are just going through a spell of really low confidence where we can't score a goal.

Eastleigh look an improved side under Hill, and Williamson is a good signing for them.

For sure.

We will go on a crazy run soon, of that I'm convinced. But we are making it harder for ourselves. We are guilty of overplaying at times and although Mickey says otherwise, we still seem in pre season mode. Technically far too good for our opposition though, which leaves plenty of room for improvement in results.

That should probably read: "best strikers in the division (allegedly)".

Ben Tollitt tweeted he's back in full training which puts him 2-3 weeks away.

Let the YouTube videos of wonder goals commence.

You have drawn 4 blanks out of 5 which would suggest you do not have the best strikers in the division.

Even more so if what you say is true about you completely dominating all 46 games over a season but missing tons of chances in every single game which you seem to post most weeks.

Strikers only finish chances, the rest of the team carve them out. We don't seem to create space at the moment. Everything seems to get blocked or intercepted. It's incredibly frustrating to watch.

You clearly didn't see Dover last season. Most of our goals were created by our centre forward on his own

We were robbed BLIND. The actual state of that first 'booking' he gives for Carrington at 2:20 is the worst decision of the match, it's just an aerial challenge and everyone is playing on until he brings it back. The pen isn't even a foul and I don't think either player touches the ball, the Maidstone player just falls over and there's no decision to be made, it's just play on FFS. He gets his yellow card out that much in games that he doesn't even realise he's booked Carrington previously until he looks and then you can actually see the excitement in his eyes when he knows he's got to show the red. He also sent 2 players off for Tranmere on the opening day.

Sam Allison, remember the name. Potentially worse than Karl Evans.

He refereed the Bromley vs Leyton Orient game on Tuesday night. Thought he was excellent.

I'm happy to concede the referee was appalling and most decisions went against you, if you will admit it made no difference to the outcome of the game. Your first goal came from your first chance totally against the run of play, then you let us score two. We should have killed off the game against nine players, but that is another matter.

The full horror show, unlike the subtly edited Maidstone highlights.

He's giving fouls everywhere against us for nothing there, both Maidstone goals are from non-existent free kicks (yes they could still be defended better). Penalty for us at 7:17 for a Maidstone player jumping all over one of ours to head the ball clear and then another non-existent free kick given straight away from the kickoff in the 2nd half which was funny. It's like he's not seeing things properly and doesn't know what a tackle looks like.

Tempted to say that this is the worst referee display I can recall in nearly 10 seasons of watching us in this league. For clarification, we are shite and would have lost anyway on a level playing field.

That first yellow... sorry, but he's leading with his forearm and you just can't do that these days. Yellow every time.

Very strange start of a season so far for us , while I think ultimately it's somewhat disappointing that we don't look tactically astute as we were other wise promised we are in fact unbeaten and are going forward extremely confidently.

The problem we have so far is that we have a abundance of big physical centre backs , who look to bully and play from the back . These type of players are normally counter balanced by a quicker CB who allows the defensive pair to push higher and deal with counter attacks.

The player we use to do so in Scott doe is out already and is also our club captain and so deals with the vocal structuring of the players on pitch. Now this responsibility would then fall on our keeper in justham but his poor start has lead to the selection of an equally excellent mark cousins of whom may be the best shot stopper in the league , this is his mainstrength as a keeper but uses this to account for his poor command both physically in the box and verbally of our back line.

So in short we are currently playing a very embedded system which holds a very deep line where we look to absorb and or scrap the ball to a holding midfielder then break with high balls to target men who play in our wingers who are really playing false striker roles of which really has punished us against equally excellent attacking sides in Ebbsfleet , Eastleigh and Fylde who I've no doubt will all be in the playoffs.

Not a bad start in all but to be honest I do feel we should be the leagues champions and that I feel that more should be expected so far , it will be interesting to see a fully fit back line with Ben Nunn, Scott doe and Daniel Sparkes return as the system will no doubt see a much more balanced system.

Yet strangely Piggott got away with a far more obvious case of leading with the elbow a little while later when he knocked Pearson flying.

Truely woefull refereeing that. Probably getting a back hander off some betting syndicate.

He didn';t have much to do though - it's quite easy to make sure the Orient players were correctly re-starting the game from the centre circle over and over and over...

Would Boreham Wood, Sutton and Bromley all be allowed to get promoted??

Dover??

Are their grounds of the sufficient standard??

Guiseley?
Solihull?
Maidenhead??
Ebbsfleet??
Fylde??

Be sad to see Crawley return to this level. Hopefully a Port Vale or a Crewe will join them

Do the FL give a shit like the NL do? I suspect they'll be more forgiving than the NL who are pretty hard-line for some reason.

According to Keates the 'dissent' that saw Carrington receive his second yellow was pointing out to the referee that the law had changed with regards to sending players off when they've made a genuine attempt at a tackle.

We were definitely second best against Maidstone so may well have lost anyway (although both their goals came from dubious free kicks) but when you are completely scuppered by the referee it really sticks in your craw. Like when Altrincham beat us after both our forwards were sent off a few years ago ( one for accidently treading on an Alert players toe) or when Hyde were given a penalty against us because Brett Ornerod got thrown to the floor by a Hyde player. A decision I still can't work out.

I like a lot of things about the National League but the referees aren't one of them.

Our ground is FL standard.

The National League require that the ground has potential to be converted into a FL standard ground at short notice, so ignoring the issue of pitch, any club in the National League shouldn't have any problems if they got promoted.

North Ferriby were the only club to get a telling off last year AFAIK, and they would have been relegated even if they had managed to finish above the bottom 4.

From what we've heard, the ref was getting an earful of bad language from the Wrexham players every time he made a decision and eventually had enough. From his decisions, he was bringing it on himself and Wrexham were fairly justified in their complaints, so very harsh.

From a Wrexham point of view, what did you make of our young lad Richards who got the second goal? Some of our fans are raving about him but that always happens with academy products. Be interesting to know if he stood out to your lot.
