Sutton's chairman and manager saying on the highlights show how it would basically RUIN them going up. Retire from the chase gracefully then. Mind you, the reffing out should soon sort out these dissenters.

I wouldnt worry, I can see the title being between yourselves and Tranmere with us, Macclesfield and Sutton fighting for 3rd.

I see Fylde as being a team in 3rd/4th, but you don't get promoted from 3rd, you have beat the teams in 5th, 6th & 7th to start with & go from there
I've forgotten the play offs work out :dk:

Interesting interpretation of what they said, in that they didn't actually say anything really like that. Just a reasonable complaint about the whole ludicrous nature of the situation

Quite a few clubs would be ruined by promotion, not that Maidstone need worry about that this season. Instead of expanding play off places and threats of double relegations, the league should be considering a more flexible approach; maybe one automatic promotion spot and teams below choosing to apply for play off spots if they want. The jump from National North/South ground requirements to Football League is too big to even contemplate for many.

I’d broadly agree with this. However, knowing what the current rules on plastic pitches are, can’t help feeling that Sutton, who recruited well in the summer, would have been better served by squirrelling some of those funds from the Cup run away, until the position on plastic pitches changes.

That old chestnut that we spent our Cup money in the summer. Most of it went on paying Dos back for the pitch, the scoreboard, new changing rooms and floodlights. The rest will essentially be rainy day money. We're not hard up, the good thing about having a board full of accountants is that we tend to be sensible with what we have. TBH we didn't really expect to be in this position, after all we're still part-time. Our summer recruitment policy was to first cover the departures, we're still only training twice a week. And travelling to Barrow on the day

Still struggling to get my head round Saturday. Without a doubt the worst I've ever seen us play. Askey got the tactics all wrong and I've said it all along, I don't think we're strong enough to win the league. Embarrassing performance.

Brackley did it the other day and it didn't hold them back.

So, just to be clear (apologies if this has already been discussed), if Sutton finish up in the play-off places, they will either have to commit to laying a grass pitch over the summer if they go up, voluntarily give up their play-off place, or be relegated to the National League South?

Their chairman basically said he’s already achieved his ‘dream’ i.e being a steady Conference side. For the likes of us and Tranmere, being down here is regarded as our worst nightmare. MOTWYW.

I guess they are counting on the rules eventually changing. But if they don't, if I was a fan of their I'd want the plastic pitch ripped up ASAP. What's the point of competing in a league from which you can never be promoted?

We've already stated that if we have to we'll rip up the pitch. And our friend from Wrexham is selectively quoting our chairman who whilst he said it was our ambition to be the best non-league club we could be he then said 'ambitions change'. Which is the mark of a forward thinking club rather than one clinging on to former glories (of struggling in the lower reaches of the Football League)

Pools won me some money at the weekend,it was an away banker.
The players have shown time & again they have no appitite for a fight, they make me sick.
Woods,Featherstone & Hawkins have done it for 3 season's now.Featherstone was overweight on Saturday a total lack of professionalism from a senior pro.
The whole town & a lot from outside came together to make sure they got paid while bar staff, steward's etc, worked for nothing & they turned in a performance like that.
They should be ashamed.

Incredible performance, should of been 9 or 10. Think they only had 4 shots all game. Easily our best performance of the season. Roll on Tuesday

ONLY 4 shots all game!?!?!?!? I'd rip your arm off for that many shots in one game

See you’ve sold out your away allocation for Saturday now, shame. I was planning on going in the Tranmere end as I’m not traveling down to Pompey to watch Salop. Can’t bring myself to go into the Wrexham end so I’ll look around for other local games then.

There will be a few quiet Tranmere fans in the home end, but I can understand your reluctance... :animatedf:

Still as sick as a pig me like. Just can’t get over how the fuckers just did not turn up at all. They’d just been paid BY US for god’s sake least they could show they gave a toss.

Having that (can’t bring myself to say his name) on the touch line doesn’t help but have some pride, if not for the club then for yourselves. They obviously don’t care that they are by far and away the worst players and team we’ve had in our history. No pride, respect for us or themselves at all.

We always defend badly. Your strikers must've just had a bad night. I seem to remember you could've/should've scored a couple late on actually

In a season would be a start first up.

Providing we don't play the same shit 4-5-1 formation tonight, I think we may be able to muster up 4 shots. Hopefully one of them hits a defenders arse on the way and deceives the keeper.

There's no somehow about it, you're still winning this awful league. I've been saying it all season long, even when you were about 14th and prior to the Mellon Crunch Talks™.

Joking aside it’s pretty obvious your lot somehow winning at our place gave the clubs hierarchy the jolt it needed. Sheer complacency from them that we haven’t run away with the league this year. Too interested in signing players they thought we could sign on the cheap, improve and sell on.

We must have forgotten the 'improve' bit with Alabi. Is he still on our books?
