Thought McCallum was back for you guys now?

It wasn't partcularly him in the game at EP anyway really. It was the midfield with Robinson (who would be a miss), Jones and is it Sagaf(?). With Balanta floating about where he wanted always a threat and none of our lads picking him up or knowing what to do with him. One of the most talented players on the ball in the league that Balanta, bit of a luxury player I can imagine though.

We're a different animal from that day but we've had one league game without Quigley since Challinor came in when he was at ill at Torquay and we lost that one. He's a real focal point for us.
Personally I thought the person who caused us most problems when they beat us was Simon Rusk esq.

Yep, we're currently in one of our rubbish phases. We're forecasted to snap out of it some time in March so you'll be fine.

From a run of P11 W9 D2 L0 straight into P5 W0 D0 L5

Saturday is the ideal time to turn it around. I remember last season when we played Maidenhead they had lost 11 on the trot. Beat us 1 nil at home.

We only have 13 fit players available for tomorrow but not looking for a call off. 3 have Covid so unless it spreads throughout the team, our chances are slim.

Col is a Southend fan Bee Sting…

Before reading your comment I was going to say I didn’t know if I fancied an upset tomorrow night.. we are due a poor result but our form at ML this season is pretty exceptional. And I reckon we’ll be pretty close to full strength. So it seemed unlikely anyway. But if you’re riddled with covid it seems less likely still. However, this is Notts we are talking about, and having genuinely managed to get ourselves into the title race now, it would be very Notts-y to lose 0-1 to Barnet’s ressies. We somehow managed to draw at home with KL last season when they had a 50yo goalkeeping coach on the bench though. So we’ll see!

We don’t play with wing backs as such but both our full backs like to get forward. It’s definitely a modern day football thing rather than the traditional full back.
:ffs: Please, just stop.

Stonesnet to go into meltdown when we take less to Woking on Saturday than we did in the NLS.

Our record is typically pretty good against Alan Dowson managed sides and the team will be looking to avenge the opening day defeat. Josh Umerah’s suspension is over so he’ll replace Taylor up front. Other than that, I imagine the other 10 players will keep their places.

If we're serious about going up this is the kind of game you just have to win.
We need to be starting games better, gone behind in our last five, at some point we'll get punished for giving teams goal head starts.

Wonder if we’ve applied to get the game called off. 13 fit senior players with 3 covid cases. It’d be off in the prem!

Not saying we should do by the way, the “rules” baffle me.

Wondered that but Brennan sounded pretty much like it was going ahead in his interview, talk of promoting some lad from the youth set up and ‘going up there with a plan’, etc.

Maybe just figures you aren’t going up or down this season, so just wants to get it played if possible rather than just have some massive fixture pile up.

Also, I see he says he and Michael Doyle are personal friends. Maybe Doyle has threatened him.

Doyle has been a disappointingly chilled figure as assistant manager. I was hoping he’d provide the furious, sweary sidekick to nice young man Burchnall, but they both mostly stand there looking thoughtful and pointing at stuff.

Barnet have been our bunnies somewhat recently - the aggregate score in the last three meetings is 13-2 to Notts.

Think Vinnie may have a point to prove in this one, he wasn’t very complimentary at all about how he was treated as a kid by Barnet in that podcast he did a few weeks ago.

If the opponent is Notts Co then the’rules’ say that you can postpone as near to kick off as possible

Must win really for Wrexham, we can't afford to drop further behind and need to start off another run of good form after County ended the last one.

Hopefully Mullin is somewhere closer to 100% after an extended rest, and in the absence of any new signings i'd like to see Kwarme Thomas start and given the chance to stake his claim to be the hold up player next to PM. I've seen enough of Ponticelli trying to play the role.

I don't think we have any other injury issues apart from Jake Hyde and we should be confident and rested so no excuses really.

Prediction, 2-0 Wrexham, Davies and Mullin.

From Rowe’s press conference it seems there might be a surprise inclusion on the bench for us tomorrow in attacking midfielder Joe Rowley.

We recalled him after he got injured playing on loan at Kings Lynn earlier this year, where he’d been playing very well. Rowe seems to be intending on giving him a run of games at some point aswell.

Absolute last chance saloon for Rowley to fulfil his potential with us this time round in my opinion. When he broke through back in our league 1 relegation campaign in 2016/17 we all thought he’d be destined for bigger and better things, even at that level. But lack of confidence, whilst playing in poor sides for poor managers has really made his career go stale so far. We all know the ability is there, but it’s about seeing it consistently now. Hopefully Rowe gets it out of him, but I’m not convinced… hope to be wrong!

Rowe’s style will suit Rowley in the same way it suits Mandeville. Playing with a CAM (or two) and no wingers will at the very least mean Joe is in his favoured position behind the strikers. I think there is a player there without doubt.

People forget with Rowley that he is only 22 - he still has a couple of years of development ahead of him. He has also been subject to playing out of position (on the wing) in some of the worst chesterfield teams I’ve known in my 20+ years of supporting us.

If you look at Maguire who is 24, it was only a couple of years ago that he actually started to look like a player and is now for me (when fit) one of our best CB’s. I really hope it works out for Rowley as the talent is definitely there.

The conspiracy theorists at our place reckon that Alty cancelled the catering order for our game two days before they got it called off for Covid, no matter we still humped them 4-1.

Yep, if it’s going to happen for Rowley at Chesterfield now is the time for him to show it. He’ll be playing alongside good players in a team full of confidence, the perfect situation for him to kick on in !!

R.e. Maguire, it’s funny how football fans opinions differ so much at times isn’t it! I’m in the camp that firmly don’t rate him. In my opinion if it wasn’t for his name he’d have been shipped off in the same summer Beesley went (they came through the academy together) !! He’s too slow and clumsy for my liking and not dominant enough in the air for someone that has no pace or mobility, I much prefer having Croll or Whittle in that LCB position personally. My opinion on Kerr is similar to that too (although he’s a bit quicker than Maguire tbf) ^^, Williams has been a massive upgrade on that right side.

Because we’re all running scared, you’re just too good!!

Well that’s what Notts Twitter likes to think anyway

We can take the moral high ground after our brave and selfless decision to beat Wrexham with 12 players.

Annoying, though. With four of our last five league games called off (all because of various issues at the opposition) and the Trophy, our fixture list is getting caned. Going to be two games a week all the way through yet again.

I awe comuld even ha travelling up tomorrow for our game at Alty. Always a great away day. SHould be winning as they are terrible at the moment too. Looks like a lot now all fit from injuries and covid so our bench will be of reasonable standard and only a couple who can come on usually.

I agree with this, but you'd imagine this is Rowley's last chance to impress. Hope we does well.

Jokes if we don't win tonight. With this refreshing air of positivity finally around the club after a long time wouldn't it just be classic to lose 1-0 at home to top tinpotters Kings Lynn

For me Maguire is our best footballing CB, he steps out into midfield and supports the LWB properly going forward - unlike Kerr on the other side who I also don’t particularly rate. He’s fine, solid enough but I think Williams is better.
