Perhaps we will fluke promotion through the play-offs this season ?
If you'd like a bit of advice on fluking it in the National League play offs just give our Chairman a quick ring.

Coddington had a four goal nightmare today sadly, he's no Jonnie Maxted. Liburd also missed three golden opportunities to score.

I only counted 2 Guiseley chances, and one of those was at 4-0.

Agree, your 'keeper had a nightmare. Responsible for at least the first two Sutton goals. Other than the first 30 minutes it was a very one sided match. Never seen someone taking a corner scoring before, so that was novel

Maidstone and Chester both capitulated in the same (85th and 88th) minute. How odd.

Certainly deserved to win today, can’t believe we’ve done that at Dagenham two years on the bounce. Should have been out of sight really but Archer and Hannah wasted chances when through.

Noticeable improvement again can’t afford to lose these games.

Deluded if you think you deserved to win, we should of been out of sight first 30 mins. You improved as game went on but certainly did not deserve to win. Another team trying to injure Fejiri out of the game, how the late tackle on him at the end was not a red I will never know.

Our side has been obliterated by recent events and we still won. Shows how poor this league is when we are a handful of points from play offs with a game in hand.

Yeah, this. Not sure what game 1-2 of the Chester fans were watching. Fairly even in terms of ‘good’ chances

As it stands playoffs would be;

Quarters;
Aldershot vs Fylde
Boreham Wood vs Wrexham

Semi finals;
Sutton vs Aldershot/Fylde
Tranmere vs Wood/Wrexham

Hard to call any of those.

Looking at the table I’d be surprised if any of the top 6 dropped out. Bit of a shoot out between Fylde, Ebbsfleet, Dover, Bromley and ??Dagenham for 7th. Got to go with Fylde based on what I’ve seen but any of those sides could do it.

Doubt anyone in 6th or 7th will be able to win the playoffs though with 2 away games in quick succession, that could be opposite ends of the country in any of Sutton/Wood/Shots onto Tranmere/Wrexham or vice versa.

Believe the games would be straight after season end on Tuesday/Wednesday in quarters and Saturday/Sunday for semis. Huge fitness advantage finishing 2nd /3rd.

Christ I hope we're not involved

There's no way a side is going to win 2 away games and then a final at Wembley inside about 4 days or whatever the playoffs timeframe is.

I’d be over the moon if we made the playoffs, lots of football to play before that. Should we make them I’d prefer Wrexham, home or away

You definitely did not dominate.

We were in control 1st half until you levelled. 2nd half was fairly even and you got the breakthrough first. You didn’t have lots of chances at 2-1. We were pushing men forward and you had a few counters that resulted in routine saves.

In the end, a draw would have been a fair reflection of the game but Andy Halls decided to head past your keeper.

All that is dominating for us!

Are the quarters just one off games?
Yes the games as I’ve listed would be one off legs.

Playoff final is the weekend after the semi final, so the team finishing 2/3rd has a week break between each game. Given how jaded Aldershot were in the first leg last season I’d say that is huge.

On play-offs, shouldn’t the side who finish second play the lowest placed side who gets through the play-off semi, from which ever tie that side comes.

The Shots and Boreham Wood have a game in hand, so assuming they win those the table would look a little different.

2nd plays winner of 4th v 7th and 3rd plays winner of 5th v 6th. So technically 3rd would be the best position for the playoffs.

Sutton also have a game in hand so really the only change if we all won would be you dropping to 5th

I’ve always thought the playoffs should be one leg at the highest placed team. Otherwise there’s not really much of an advantage of finishing higher. Having 7th involved is shit though.

The Isthmian League playoffs are one leg affairs at the highest placed teams ground. And the highest placed team faces the lowest (so 2nd v 7th for instance). All sounds great until a team just about qualifies for the playoffs goes to the team in 2nd, scores a couple of fluky goals. And then loses to Boreham Wood in the final thus allowing that club to begin climbing the leagues

So do Macclesfield but both those pair winning wouldn’t change things, whereas you or Boreham Wood winning does. Think the games in hand involve relatively easy opponents in theory, so would likely end up with us down to 5th, if all were to be played now.

Still think it would be fairer if the second placed team played the lowest placed of the 4-7th play-off place winners.

Agreed. It’s what they do in the NFL Playoffs; zero reason why it couldn’t be implemented.

Watching the highlights show you will struggle to see 2 bigger brainfarts than that Maidstone player, looks almost suspicious it's that bad. A ridiculous own goal followed by a Sunday morning alehouse player challenge in the last second of the match. Then actually complaining about it. Maidstone penalty was a clear foul so we can shelve the Tranmere penalty conspiracy for this week at least.

Paul Doswell actually pronounces it 'Flyde'. Yet another reason to deny the 3G lover promotion.

And I realise there was only about 37 people there to see it but how has that goal from Mitch Pinnock of Dover not been mentioned from Tuesday night? Should win the goal of the season in this league.

Ours is a home game - we have won 1 in 7 at home since the end of November and that was against Woking (who we would have beaten with our under 10s) so theres no guarantee we will win - even though we simply have to

If Sutton take a promotion spot, either the title or winning playoffs and refuse to dig their pitch up, would that promote someone else or just mean one less team coming down? I’m thinking the latter.
