The most pleasing thing about the game for me is to see we keep learning from our mistakes week after week. we are becoming more and more resolute as the season goes on.
We didn’t come out of second gear and from very early on stifled any of Halifax’s attacking ambition.
I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable we were and for the first time ever in this league looked levels above an opposition rather than getting a good result.

Crazy days at Hayes Lane!

Not shown but since all the County players ran off to celebrate in our own half, the Dover lot decided to try and restart play while they were busy! Luckily Sam Walker was awake enough to step in their half and delay kickoff

Not surprising in the slightest

Pen to Torquay, John Rooney sent off - he didn't even make the tackle?

Watching the highlights it seems the penalty was for the handball but Rooney was actually sent off for calling the ref a twat!

The club have appealed against the sending off which was for handball not telling the ref what he thought of him. Under the new rules though if the ball hits a defenders arm after deflecting off another part of his body it's not classed as handball and a penalty should not be awarded. If that's the case Rooney was correct in his assessment of the referee.

Disappointing from us, had far more possession and got into plenty of promising areas, but shocking in the final third. Lost count of the number of crosses that sailed out of play or hit the first defender. Probably the only decent ball of the game was by Chesterfield’s Boden(?) for a smart finish by Gevaro. Poor defending from us though.

Frustrating afternoon all round, at least we have a chance to make it right straightaway at out of form Woking.

How much pressure is Ardley under ?

We may be out of form but hard to beat. Last ten league games 7 draws 3 defeats

I would define it as mild pressure at most tbh. Fans definitely fall into two camps, and there is a clear split. Naturally the size of each camp swings massively depending on the latest result.

I'm tempted to go straight from work.

We should have been at least three up against Wrexham before we finally took the lead in first half stoppage time. We then gave away yet another sloppy goal when we had several chances to clear and after that the game become very disjointed but we managed to find the winner.

Wrexham look to be in trouble, very poor showing from them.

It's worrying times. Particularly as the squad is not too different to the one which was at the top of the table most of last season. It didn't help not having Pearson as we are a lot more solid with him in the team, but our midfield (which was always the worst bit of our team) has gone backwards and our forwards have downed tools.

If we go down I have significant doubts you'd ever see us at this level again. Keates needs to pull off a miracle.

Add to this that we've lost our striker to injury again, who we statistically perform much better with. I can see Torquay absolutely destroying us if Pearson isn't back.

If Lainton gets injured again ad Pearson doesn't recover soon we will finish bottom. There won't be a side worse than us.

Lost count of the amount of midfield misplaced passes in the first half of the Chesterfield/Notts game. A game very low on the basics of football.

Are Wrexham as bad as the table suggests?

I think expectations are now higher than they were at the start of the season. I would imagine most Notts fans would be disappointed if we now don’t stay up and amongst the playoff positions. He’ll come under pressure if we slip back to mid-table.

After Saturday and the form you’re in, I would also think most will be a bit cheesed off (if not surprised) if we don’t get the win tomorrow.

I heard at the weekend that our budget is 2.5m quid this year. Playoffs minimum.

If that's true, you should be ripping this league apart.

2.5m can't be right surely? That's a L1 budget

Who told you £2.5m?

Tbh if it only came down to playing/squad budgets we wouldn't be in the National League. Here's a heads up for some, it doesn't.

Yeah it seems high. As Lukeimp says, we got relegated with a big budget, and there haven’t been too many signs it’s been cut, maybe apart from getting rid of Hemmings. The likes of Turner, Enzio, Dennis, and Doyle will be on very good money for this level.

VM, a decent bloke who knows somebody and hasn’t any reason to make things up.

They got relegated on a £3m one apparently.

£2.5m is a low L1 budget. Average is £4m this season.

Apparently money doesn't always buy you success but history shows it helps significantly more often than not.

Only a fool thinks home attendances, and overal annual income generated isn't important. It's key to the health of any football club. Naturally as you would expect there are exceptions and anomalies i.e. NCFC season 2018/19

If Lainton goes out injured again then we are going down. We've been playing with a Northern Prem goalie in net all season up until this point and our league position shows that.

If you look at our squad on paper it should be in the top 7, that is my honest opinion. Like you said, it's the same squad that finished 4th last season.

I didn't think Wrexham were too bad tbh, also didn't think you were great, but showed enough to not go down. Surely four worse teams.
