Not a convincing win by any stretch of the imagination. Halifax are exactly the sort of side we struggle against under Askey and their giant won headers at both ends with ease so not surprising we conceeded from a corner (luckily he was pants with the ball at his feet). Then they defended deeply and in numbers and generally looked very solid at the back, and also tried time wasting from 15 mins onwards. We created little in the way of chances despite having loads of possession, deflected goal before halftime was a lifeline and I agree that the 2nd half would've proceeded very differently without it. Durrell coming on helped us in the in.

Don't see Tranmere dropping points anytime soon.

After Saturday, four of our next five matches are away from home, including a trip to Wrexham. We are in good form, but realistically we are not going to win eight or nine in a row, including several away games.

Our home games against yourselves and Aldershot will be probably be key.

I don't like all the bigging-up of our chances in this thread, it makes me very uncomfortable.....

You know we can't be apart for too long, don't you be getting promoted again or we've no chance of promotion ourselves!
Piece of piss, this L2 malarkey...The trick is to only have 3 strikers, no proper left winger and go with a squad of 19.

So a bit like is going with only 2 strikers, no left winger and a squad of 18?!

The league will be much stronger again next year with FGR back in it, Dale Vince looking like being proved correct when he said getting out of League 2 would be easy.

Which side was it taking the ball to the corner flags for the last 10 minutes? There was NOTHING between the sides, Macclesfield had 2 shots all game. Big deflection for your first goal. If Macc are among the best in this league, be thankful we had a mare with injuries and suspensions in first half of the season, or I'd be the only one still using this forum now. :ds:

Not sure why Wrexham fans think a striker will get them back on course. Unless they got someone of very high non league pedigree like.. Andy Cook, it isn’t going to make much of a difference. 24 goals from 26 games suggests as we experienced at Prenton Park, they set up to draw 0-0 and a 1-0 win is a bonus. I imagine Wrexham would be found out if they tried playing football against one of the other top sides.

Agreed, it’s not as though Wrexham are creating chance after chance and not taking them.

Back 'on course' for what? We've been in the playoffs virtually all season and we need a striker to take us further.

And it's been established that we can't cope against teams who actually pass the ball and move us about. Apart from when we beat you at your place with 10 men for 80 mins.

Bottom 4 are virtually gone, let's be honest. I don't think there's a team above that line poor enough to go down.

That's about it. We were warned by Grimsby fans about Bignot, but it would appear that he's worse than McCarthy. He's lost the dressing room and all but one of our fans has accepted that we'll be playing Regional Footie next season. The main culprits are the people in the board room and that includes Mark Maguire, who seems to have a penchant for fucking clubs up.

You seemed very confident you would mount a title challenge. With us in form now and Dagenham etc hovering, you’ll need to step it up to make the playoffs.

Is the issue not higher up? You get respectable gates considering and must surely be able to offer a better budget than some of these tinpot sides, but maybe this isn’t the case as you’re being poorly run? Can’t comment on the experience of your fans, but I was relieved that our trust didn’t get ownership of Tranmere.

No complaints with the scoreline. Missing our best midfielder against a really good side was always going to be an uphill struggle. As for Rowe, he's too good for us in all honesty. Put him in a top 3 team and he'd probably break the scoring record in this league

Like you before you brought in a couple of wingers our main issue isn't our strikers. In fact I don't think there is too much wrong with our strikers although Miller and Massanka are going back to their parent clubs in January and will.need replacing.

I'm pretty sure we will make the play offs as we've been very consistent. But I'm not confident we would make it through.

It's all about next season.

He’ll sign for us in the summer I’ve been led to believe. Same as your centre mid that was injured.

Rowe is the best opposition player I've watched play against us this season, great touch and technique for someone at this level.

Plenty of Full time North West teams would do worse than try to sign him.
