A pretty dire 0-0 at ours today. Two teams lacking any composure or finishing ability. Lots of endeavour though, can't fault the work rate.

We could have played in blindfolds and still won today. Chester were extremely poor whilst we were just professional without putting much energy into the game.

Might get suddenly interesting if Boring Wood beat Macc..

4-1 in the end was harsh on Barrow, it was never a 4-1 game and we made the most of them being down to ten men in stoppage time to score twice when we outnumbered them on the break.

First time I've seen Barrow this season, didn't realise they focused so much of their game around their left back Dan Jones's long throws, which are huge. When he got sent off, their main threat completely went as he was also quite handy putting crosses into the box. Ironic our second goal came from a long throw, first we've scored from those for ages.

Barrow had one very key chance in the second half, which was deflected just wide from a superb Sam Ling block after Barrow had 15mins of putting us under pressure.

Bonne now has 20 League goals and 23 in total for the season, we lost Josh Coulson early on and young Marvin Ekepita came in and performed well at the back and we're now safe with a portive goal difference.

First time in ages I can put my feet up. :bdick:

WTF Hartlepool! Are you TRYING to get relegated. :ffs:
Sad to see our brothers at Chester going down today. For me, the story of our 2 clubs since we came up together in 2013 illustrates the limitations of the fan owned model. In that time we've made the play-offs, won a cup at Wembley and been down and up again in 12 months. Despite having almost double our support in 2013, Chester have barely been out of the drop zone, even getting technically relegated in 2014. However you dress it up, they should have made much more of an impact than they have. They cruised to the Northern title in 2013- it won't be so straightforward this time round. All the best though, hope to see you back soon. :cool1:

Shame to see Chester go, our games have been one of the few positives of being in this league. Been some cracking games and atmospheres the last few seasons. Hopefully they can sort their financial situation out and bounce back.

Pretty drab game today where we played fairly poorly and still won without Chester causing us any trouble. Just need Macc to string a few losses together to make the end of the season more interesting!

Some very good football from us to beat a decent Morning Wood side whose defence wasn't quite there. We're safe by nine points now with five games left for mucking it up. Entertaining but nervous game that seemed pretty end-to-end throughout, giving them oodles of time to attack while we played some short-passing route one stuff that I'm really not used to. Given how poor we've been in the past three games it was very encouraging, and we're yet to get B-Wood'd with a 0–0 borefest. They tend to give us interesting games. Still think it'd be a larf to see them go up.

Commiserations to Chester whose past five seasons have looked tit-awful from afar especially given how jelious we were of you when you walked to the Conference North title before that, and congratulations to Danny Whitaker for his 175th(?) game since returning to Moss Lane.

Listening to bignot interview after the game the only way chester will get out of the vln is to be relegated... he was very damning about the set up there ... didnt realise neil young returned for free and walked out due to the problems there. Actually feel quite sorry for them now

Despite us being fucking awful Solihull played really well and were well deserved winners, should've won by three or four, some really quick attack minded players that caused our buffoons all sorts of problems.

Honeymoon over now for Bates, losing twice to teams below us back to back, he's gotta pull a win out from somewere before we get sucked back into the sticky business below us.

Chester is just a glimpse of the mess a fan owned club can present.

I knew we wouldn't win when I saw Delano Sam Yorke was starting. One league goal all season yet he starts every bloody game :ffs:
I'm pretty sure it was him that had two glorious chances after robbing our full back but failed both from close range. Ours were no better though, Southwell 1st half fired wide with a clear uninterupted shot from near the penalty spot, Liburd had three one on ones and failed each time and Odejayi went through but Worgan made a great save point blank.
On chances created a draw was about right.

Any news come through yet on whether Dave Winfield is ok following his self inflicted head injury?

this is brilliant. The complete couldn't give a feck defending as the (no.24) B-Wood defender lets Fondop-Talom jog past him, then goes to gesture with his arm after the goal as if to say "come on guys, what the hell you doing" :brill:
Oh and as a footnote, not a single dive or piece of play acting. And their manager actually gave an honest account of the game post match. Will the real Boring Wood please stand up.

piss-poor game at crabble
good job we were leading before their 1st sending off of 3 [ 1 was assistant manager]

Yes, it was shite....from both teams... ref was bloody awful ... for both teams. Have never liked going to Dover. Horrible town. Horrible team. Today all but sealed our fate with two of our better strikers seeing red. If we escape this I'll get myself an Exeter City tattoo.....

Wash your mouth out!! But thanks for knocking Boreham Wood off their stride ahead of our game there on Tuesday .

Our game today hinged on two or three refereeing decisions, including a very soft red card (although it looked a lot worse from where I was stood than on the TV footage) . Draw probably a fair result and certainly one we will take.

First ever visit to ebbsfleet, not too bad a ground but the complete imbalance between seated and standing areas in the home section let it down a bit.

Given that we had a few hundred in the home stands, it's quite likely Chester brought more fans to the away fixture earlier this season (1198) than to their home game. That must be some kind of rarity?

Thoroughly disappointing that Tranmere's best effort from the stands was 'Stockport on a Tuesday night' today.

DREADFUL, you're supposed to make us more miserable not cheer us up at the thought of that replacing Boreham Wood.

Nah, Nathan Brown. He looked like a mascot.

He does indeed. he looked like one of those kids that the players in Internationals led out by the hand prior to the kick off. Even Jay Harris would tower above him..

Just looked up his stats... he's 5'3" and a little over 8 stone. Probably the smallest footballer I've ever seen.

Think we managed it on the last day of the 05/06 season against Oxford. I forget what happened in the game itself.

Lincoln did it against Southport I believe last season

This is correct. We played at their place early doors before their glory hunters got involved. Ended up giving them half of our ground on the last day of last season.

When we got bummed 6-0 at Stockport on a Tuesday night last September I was dreaming of being able to play Boreham Wood away again.

National League North is a graveyard of sides who should be doing better, and are fighting over signing bang average players. Unless you've got a lot of money you're fucked, and even if you have got a lot of money you're still probably fucked. Welcome to hell.

Big result for us today, wasn’t pretty but doesn’t matter at this stage of the season. We’ve got 2 tough away games and 2 winnable home games so I think only 6 more points which will probably see us miss out on top 3. Don’t fancy our chances in PO’s either, but then last season I did and look how that ended.
No idea who he is but Maidenhead’s number 4 was the best player on the pitch today.
