Our game tonight probably didn’t deserve it’s own thread but we’ve been humiliated 3-0 on our own patch by Solihull.
Firstly, sorry to our fellow brotherhood clubs for allowing a tinpotter to go top.
Secondly, we are a disgrace and I genuinely don’t think we’ll win a game between now and the end of the season. It’s been a pleasure lads.

How did Big George play?

Waddock has got to go for your lot, but I feel that the damage has already been done.

First time we’ve even scored a goal at Aldershot.
We were 24th 14 months ago. I can’t believe it.

Being bankrolled to the hilt helps.

So are Solihull going to get their ground up to FL standard to get promoted?

He did okay, was one of our ‘better’ performers.

Completely agree re Waddock, we need fresh ideas because on paper we’ve got the players to keep us up. If Waddock stays we will be in the South next season. If he goes then we at least have a chance of staying up.

Considering the Football League weren't gonna allow Barrow to take part in the play offs a few seasons back due to their ground. I really don't know what they're gonna do if Solihull actually win the league.

Unless loads of work has suddenly been done in the last few months, no way that ground will be allowed in the Football League.

Are groundshares permitted if work is pending?

The question is who remotely close to them could they actually share with?? Villa, Birmingham, West Brom or Coventry would be the closest, but I cant imagine they would take them in.

Closest non league ground that is EFL standard would be Kidderminster and even then that is 30 miles a way.

How bankrolled are Solihull? Their gate receipts are not enough to sustain them, sure, but their squad looks like it's been built on a mid table budget.

Wouldn't want that. Our pitch was ruined last time we groundshared with Worcester.

This all began under Mark Yates with Flowers as his number two. Much the same personel and the same outlook as oversaw the great escape last season. We do have a modest budget, we play to our strengths and have had an incredible season.
Haters gonna hate, just shows we are achieving something.

In reference to our ground, its not great. But from what I have read, my limited interpretation cannot see why our ground would be refused.
The tougher rules apply at this level and further down likely as a gatekeep for the EFL. A category A ground (which we achieved) is all that is required. That is 4000 capacity and 500 covered seats. With the ability to achieve 5000 and 1000 by April 30th the following season.
I think we can cover this and begin our application. We still have ALOT of work to do on the pitch before we can achieve this dream anyway.

Solihull were solid but nothing spectacular. Their 3 goals came from a free kick early one, one of our free kicks (on the edge of their box), and a 90 yard hoof in the 93rd minute.

Solihull deserved the win, but at least 2 of their goals came from us shooting ourselves in the foot.

Would rather Solihull went up over Salford or Flyde. They are showing us that you dont always need money to be successful in this league, as Macclesfield did last season

Don't be fooled into thinking solihull are paying peanuts. They've invested heavily

Nowhere near the budgets of the other two mentioned though. They're probably nowhere near the top 10 biggest spenders in this league. They've probably stretched their budget to maximum and probably have a couple of quality players they wouldn't usually but most of that squad were in the bottom 4 last season and they have mainly progressed through training and belief. Hats off to them.

Can't believe the mess at Aldershot. But this was caused as often is the case by a massive injury list which has all but ruined their season. Is Gary Waddock really to blame? Always thought he was steady eddie manager at this level. I've seen so many managers sacked over the years when form drops during an injury crises, it becomes rather tyresome. Credit for sticking with him but his time is running out now.

Very gracious Razz. As for our squad, it changed a lot since November 2017 we chopped and changed our way through much of the local NLN and NP talent, that did not cut the mustard in the NL. Only three of the players that were first XI in August 2017 are in the team.
Our squad, GK Boot (free from Port Vale in summer), A loan kid from Oxford
DF: Daly (legend been here for years) Gudger (from Brackley this summer) Flowers (Free from Guiseley in November) Williams (Kidderminster last Feb) Vaughan (Kiddy last week) Reckord (free agent Dec 17) Willock (youth product left and rejoined)
MF: Carter (Forest Green summer 17) Osbourne (left us jan 17 came back dec 17 from Redditch via a spell at Grimsby we had to pay them back their 35k ish fee) Storer (Cheltenham free Nov 17) Carline (Hednesford Feb 17) Maxwell (Blues loan to free this season) Coyle (youth) Hawkridge (Linlcoln this month)
ATT: Hylton (free summer 17) Yussuf (nominal Barrow Jan 18) Wright (free Cheltenham summer 18) Stenson (Leamington September 18) Thomas (Cov free Nov 17) Blissett (Macc Dec 18)
We have one or two youngsters out on loan at local clubs who i may have forgotten but that is the extent of our squad, lucky with injuries so far (touch wood) but a small squad, hardly big bucks either.

Importantly the vast majority are Brummies, I think we benefit from being the only local team at this level and can attract Midland men who, at this level arent paid the big bucks to relocate them and their family.

You got Hawkridge from Notts County, not us. He left us in 2017.

I like the way he says how they were ‘free transfers’. It’s not like 99% of transfers down here are free anyway is it..

It’s the crazy wages they’re chucking about the place.

Yussuf was on good wages here, but Solihull took over his contract as we didn't want to trigger an extension. He won't have taken a pay cut to leave, and it is more than what all our players are on these days.
