We've had a torrid pre-season, what with failed recruitment programme, manager chucking the towel in, training centre being taken over by gypsies, cancelled matches, no pitch. It's been a struggle. But struggle is what we do supremely well, so results have been great, wins at Oldham, Farsley and Darlington, a draw at Doncaster, one defeat, to Accrington. We're ready, bring it the fuck on......…..:bdick:

Not optimistic for Barnet v Yeovil on Saturday. Currie has admitted that a new striker is unlikely for Saturday, so the embarrassingly long seven-month search continues. We've also got no right back, Sweeney is out for a few months most likely and there are fitness doubts over a few others. We haven't been anywhere near as active in the transfer market as we need to be and our silly refusal to use the loan system puts us at a real disadvantage.

Nothing silly about curbing back on the excesses of the last few seasons. Unless the parent club will cover all wages, I'd say our squad is still bloated without adding new loan signings.

And as frustrating as it has been, if we don't find the right player at the right price, I'd rather we didn't throw money at any old striker just to tick a box.

This season is all about stability. If we are struggling badly or competing really well in January, I suspect we may be more likely to add to our squad.

I've gone us, Dagengam, chorley/bromley draw at 12/1

Someone should start a betting thread on here. Stick together with teams news and shit and we could make decent money

Sounds like a self nomination to me, get it started!

Sheridan has confirmed Anthony Gerrard missing from tomorrows game with slight hamstring injury...

Think it’s more the fact he’s carrying about 3 stone extra weight that I can see causing him little niggling injuries all season unless he can shift it

Now we're back with the big boys, I guess there aren't going to be too many 'easy' games this season.... and we're always shite/unlucky against Boreham Wood.

Crowd should be around the 3k mark (doubt the away support will count much towards this).

It'll be a big test for our small squad with expectations high after last season's showing....

Sod it...

It will be interesting to see if Hughes uses the 3-4-3 formation he has been experimenting with, but it wouldn't be too much of a surprise to see the tried and tested 4-3-3 come back out.

To me it seems pretty clear that we are a right back and centre forward short, the number of poor squad players signed up by Still is irrelevant to that.

With a few departures in the summer there should be enough slack in the budget for players in those positions.

No idea how we will line up or fare at Eastleigh. But I’d take a point.

Aldershot (and Boreham Wood, apparently )
A leap into the unknown today. Very positive vibes around the place ,a new squad having had a reasonable pre-season. However, we are up against settled, strengthened Fylde team. 2-2, a triumph of hope over expectation.

Do Eastleigh have a fan(s) on here? Literally know nothing about them or how they play

Sutton have had delayed trains this morning, apparently half the team has been stood in the aisles from King's Cross to Darlo.

Just WATCH us get turned over today!

I haven't seen any, they're just a bankrolled outfit. I wouldn't expect much from them football wise with McCallum gone.

Ultra defensive line up from Devonshire today, this won't be pretty.

Big strong physical side, masters of the dark arts.

They did have a fan on here but he seems to have buggered off.

One thing I've always liked about this league is how fat some of the coaches are. Barrows goalkeeping coach looks pregnant. He doesn't even look that old.

Naive adventurousness worn down by turbo timewasting. That pretend fight wasted about three minutes alone (not that we'd have achieved owt during that time)

You were much the same when you played against us in the FA Cup last season, some nice football up to the edge of the area but toothless in it.

If Barrow hold on to this 1-0 lead at Wrexham it will be talked and talked about for years to come*

Same old story, Hignett and defence don't go together. Full backs repeatedly exposed, no one tracking back. Killip made a mess of their first goal.

We'll never beat Sutton, ever. It's the law.

It’s rotten this like, fullbacks have no support from the players in front, Toure and James may as well be stood next to me.
