I think we only played better second half cos Sutton were playing like a team who's spent half a day on a train.

Positives, Mafuta looks very good, Featherstone changed the game when he came on, has to start next game for me, Toure is going to be a frustrating player to watch but there's something there and Raynes I thought was solid, minus one fuck up towards the end.

Negatives, James was non existent, he does nothing but run, no end product, Kennedy looked like a Pools fan had won a competition to play with the first team, RCN at left back had a stinker got beat time and again and Fraser Kerr was rotten, not overly convinced with the keeper either, doesn't look very big, feel like Loach would've done better with the first goal.

Fraser Kerr has been a consistent disappointment for me.

Give Kilip a chance, he's playing on a much bigger stage now with different expectations. I think it was just nerves. Loach might've got to that but he did let in some scruffy goals too.

Mafuta looks the biz to be fair.

Overall, gutted with the team and tactics. Just so Pools isn't it?

Utterly shite!

It's going to be one hell of a struggle putting up with another season of Peter Taylor football. The man really doesn't have a clue.

Woking were predictable. A team of giants, sitting in and looking to maximise set pieces. You've got Manny Parry and Moussa Diarra. Two immovable objects but you have to get the ball either side of them and in behind them. So what do we do? Stick Joe 'fucking' Quigley up front as a target man against the both of them. 90 minutes down and I can safely say he is a fraud of a striker. When the highlights are out, I'll post up his miss free from 6 yards.

To compensate for the giants, we put a CB at LB and a safety first winger at LM so that was one side of the pitch that we couldn't attack down. Everything went down the right but was so predictable. Luque should have been starting on the left wing. Gordan should have been LB.

We have some talent there but unfortunately our manager is Peter Taylor and the dinosaur sees things different from the majority.

Woking were solid but our gameplan was shite. Still think they're in a battle at the wrong end this season; as will we be if we don't get rid of this clueless oaf in charge.

I know they had 10 men but I’d be worried as an Ebbsfleet fan.

It appears (Goddard aside) that height and how much of a unit you are were more important criteria for Hill than actual ability to play football.

Thank god we turned up for the second half. Looked far more assured and although it wasn't always comfortable (Barrow had a billion corners) we looked the more likely winners. Hooper is excellent.

Barrow were pretty niggly, but aren't a bad side and I can see them comfortably midtable with an outside chance of scraping the play offs, although their squad looks a bit thin so will depend on injuries. Harrison looked awful when he came on.

Also the Barrow fans made a decent noise, and i thought it looked like there were more than the announced number. Decent following.

Since I’m in an exile in London, I decided to go to a random game in London - which was Dagenham v Woking.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. I thought it was an even game between two bottom half teams, with Woking being clinical and Quigley having an absolute stinker. I honestly thought this forum was being harsh on him, but he was half-arsed and dreadful.

In terms of the two teams, I’m still sticking with my 16th and 18th place finishes for Dagenham and Woking respectively. I think Dagenham had generally better players (Brundle, the two centre backs), and Woking were well organised but limited.

Barnet did well to get a win today playing with a winger on his own up top. Yeovil look like they will be in trouble unless they can get things sorted on and off the pitch, their CBs in particular looked poor and the foul on Akinola for the penalty was really sloppy.

I wish he had signed Shamir Mullings then. Oh dear...

Can any Barrow fans shed light on why a few of yours were chucked out? It rarely happens here and I'm a nosey bastard.

Like I've said. Much our issues (dead wood) still exist with an unbalanced squad, lacking the pace or fight

If we'd have had a proper pre season I'd have been more confident but we had 2 days to integrate six changes and only lost 1 - 0. We are also famously bad on the first day

All us that second half, we came out all guns blazing after a shit-scared performance in the first half.

The MAIN MAN Hooper had a good debut, goal and an assist. We've got more about us going forward but are more susceptible defensively. We've still got 3 first choice players to come into the side.

Just under 6000 there.

It was a total contrast from first half to second. We were so confident for the first 45, and the second was awful. They lost the ability to pass.

Quigley was fucking wank, and should have put us 2-0 up. He looks an awful signing.

Looked like some chavvy kids (as per usual), possibly getting warned for bashing the seats and then gobbing off.

The Barrow players did seem to get very rattled and as you say the passing went to shit second half.

I don't think you look a bad side though. Quigley is a decent player, although he was poor today. Dior Angus didn't really get much of a chance to do anything either but showed some good touches.

Taylor and Quigley, match made in heaven. Do they do refunds on season tickets, no chance at Dover Tuesday.

Thing is, I've seen Quigley 4 times now, including against amateur sides in pre-season, and he's barely managed a decent touch.

Angus looked like he could cause problems, but passes to him were mostly wayward.

Thought a lot of Wrexham players were hit and miss, and not yet promotion standard (but there's a long way to go). Did well to buck up their ideas and transform the game.

We really underperformed in the first half. We will improve over the season.

Pretty even game with no real chances created by either side even after they went down to 10 men after 30 minutes.

Johnson changed it up with half an hour to go with CLE in the hole and Opi Edwards out wide and we blew them away, could have had four or five. Stupid mistake by Koue Niate (no surprise there) let Boreham back into the game and we were hanging on for the 6 added minutes.

Happy to be back in a league with a fourth official and names on the back of shirts. :woo:

It was almost the same first half as last season, if he scores it I don't think we are coming back from 2-0 down. All his talk in the paper of not celebrating if he scored, what a load of old bollocks that is. We don't have that much affinity with the lad FFS, he was here about 3 months.

Worrying was the fact we weren't prepared for how you would be from the first whistle, we were lucky to be in it. But I think most of us are just pleased to have some goals in the side up top and if Bobby Grant can now finally show us why he's been a League One player most of his career that would be great too.

Just watching the BT highlights, that Hartlepool keeper looks tiny. Should be saving that first goal all day long.

He is a tiddler, haven't seen the goals back but that was my first impression like, didn't have a shot to save all afternoon, just picked the ball out of his net three times.

Our season rinse and repeat

GOAL (insert random tinpotter) It's 1-0

Critchlow-Noble beaten too easily by the right winger who digs in a cross, Kilip flaps at it and fat bastard nods in.

GOAL (insert random tinpotter) 2-0

Horror show at the back! Another long ball into the Pools area, Kerr and Kilip collide into each other and a simple tap in for the on loan Joe Quigley to put the away side in charge

GOAL (insert random tinpotter) 3-0

Pools caught up the pitch, the away side break. Richardson slips at right back, the left winger floats a cross into the box for 5"2 Jack Munns who towers above Kilip to head into the far corner. Fans stream out of the Vic. 35 minutes gone. It's 3-0.

Cursed.

Impossible to tell with us for the reasons you say - tbh there was nothing in the game which isn’t necessarily a terrible sign considering our team’s known each other for about two days and Turner didn’t play. Just need to see where we are in a month.
