For the first 45mins today, thats the best I have seen us play in terms of controlling a game for a long, long time. Our passing and movement was superb, it was so good that Halifax didn't even get a shot in on goal.

The only problem - Despite having all the ball and making spaces, we only created one clear chance which Bonne should've scored. I doubt we will dominate possession as much as that again this season. Halifax weren't even a poor side either, we just played that well.

Second half and Josh Koroma missed an open goal and Halifax punished us at the other end - Very similar to what happened to us at Gateshead 3 weeks ago, have most of the game but don't capitalise. Halifax took control for about 20mins after they scored and got alot more into the game.

James Alabi was a bit lucky to get a spot on the bench, but he managed to scramble home a deserved equaliser at the death as we threw the kitchen sink at the end.

We've got to be more ruthless and clinical up front, for the 60mins we dominated possession we wasted two very good chances. I thought our overall play was superb, Halifax I thought were a good side, just that we were better but weren't ruthless enough.

Having said that, despite having all the ball both sides probably had a similar amount of chances each, so a draw you was about right. Halifax to their credit were tough to break down and looked a threat on the break in the second half.

How shit are Chesterfield, we kept a clean sheet......................
two shite lack luster teams in a poor game and the usual conference incompetent referee
but we kept a clean sheet WOW first of the season, this despite Chesterfield hitting the bar and post in the last minute fussy referee totalling inept , Nice ground , friendly fans and friendly staff and stewards hope we stay up and a return visit would be most welcome

Unconvincing win v Maidenhead. Still think we are a bang average side. We've won 5 on the bounce and beaten shit sides. Until I see us put a decent team away I'm not getting carried away

Good win for us today, was not pretty at all but a win is a win.

Found it quite amusing how much the BT commentators kept on going on about how we traveled down on the same day & about how young our squad was

We played ok but laboured to a win. It was adequate. We’re playing better than we did to begin the season but we’re still nowhere near playoff material. The only 2 decent teams we’ve played so far have tonked us.

To other fans getting all comedic and trying to make a point about our run, look at our last 5 wins:

Chesterfield (A) - 1-0 90th minute screamer
Dagenham (H) - 2-1 could have been more
Dover (A) - 1-0 struggles at times
Bromley (A) - 1-0 should have been more
Maidenhead (H) - 1-0 very average

Only 6 goals scored and all of the teams played are lower-mid table at best. Yes, we’re doing a job and it’s an improvement and yes, we can only beat what’s in front of us, but its hardly convincing and you’ll be hard pushed to find a kinder run of games for any team this season.

We have Orient (A), Fylde (H) and Wrexham (A) in the next 3 weeks. Those games will tell us a lot.

Don’t say this anywhere on here pal, apparently we were all totally overreacting at the start of the season and we are in fact world beaters.

3-2 Shots, the much maligned Rowe with a free kick cracker. First time we’ve come from behind for about a million years.

Actually one of the things we have done well under Waddock in the last 12-18 months is coming from behind in games.

Going forward, we are starting to look good but need to be more clinical - Rendell has scored 3 in 4 now which is a huge positive. Defensively in the first half though, we were a shambles - partly because Waddock played Gallagher at Right Back and left Smith on the bench. Once that error was rectified at half time, we were ok. From 2-1 down after losing 5 of our last 6, I thought we showed great character to win - hopefully this will be a turning point.

At home we've actually got 10 points out of 15 so far, which is actually a point more than we had after 5 home games last season (as strange as it is to believe). Our problem is away, where we have lost every game and are on a run of 7 straight defeats going back to the end of last season.

Fylde next, who stuffed us 7-1 next season when we had a better defence. To say i'm a bit worried is an understatement

I saw 4 Maidstone players on my tube ride home just now, Shamir Mullings, Jamar Loza and Alex Finney - Not sure of the other one yet, they got off at Blackhorse Road.

They were talking alot about money.
Would be very interesting to know what they were saying. Did you hear much. Did they sound unhappy with there situation. Might explain their apparent lack of effort on the pitch.

I have to be careful what I say, as they'd just got back from Salford on the train and had finished for the day and they're entitled to do what they want - They weren't doing anyone any harm, just four guys going home. But they were smiling/joking amongst themselves and seemed happy, seemed to talk alot about making money, they may have mentioned about someone being or not being picked for the team, I was just out of earshot.

They didn't seem too arsed that they were in the bottom four, but as I said they were four blokes on their way home from a days work. The 4th player was Jordon Wynter I believe.

I've given it 10 games to see if our early season results were a product of needing a bedding in period. Whilst results have certainly picked up, we still don't give off the vibe of a team capable of going all the way and winning it.

Injuries have certainly not helped, but we look a functional team, hard to break down without much flair going forward. This side is nowhere near the quality of the three previous sides that we've won the title with.

I thought we'd be around the play-offs before the season started but not good enough to challenge for the title and nothing I've seen so far has changed that view.

Genuine question nasty.

Another one for this thread, has Kedwell always been that overweight? Christ.

Runs more than anybody else in the team though. Played 90 minutes practically every game last season!

Finally calmed down after yesterday's horror show. We need Clark and Winfield back ASAP. We look like a bunch of strangers at the back without them.

McMahon seriously needs to change something. We haven't played all that well this season other than after going one down to Aldershot, but the last three have been absolutely woeful. Genuinely awful.

I blame that Wrexham fan, the Chief. It's been downhill ever since he tried to say we are title challengers. 4 losses at home in 5 games is a disgrace.

Onto Wrexham and more than likely another loss. One of my favourite away games, not been for a few years.

Not surprising really, our last 4 or 5 games both home and away, its looked like half our team can't be arsed. We're a bit of a shambles from top to bottom here at the moment. Doesn't look good, can't see this season going very well for us at this point.

After this comment, you'll definitely smash us 1-0 on Saturday.

If you can break down the brick wall that is our defence that is.

Well we've not lost away yet, but I think we'll lose this one. We don't concede too many, three of those 4 home losses were 1-0, but for all our attacking options, we're shite going forward!

Only just able to face coming on here now - Saturday was a real sickener. Dagenham defended well for 90 mins and had a couple of chances before capitalising at the death. We should have been out of sight though, but for some poor finishing. I had a bad feeling at half-time that we'd throw it away, and so it proved. Even so, we never should have lost that.

With a couple of penalties and one of Saturday's easy chances buried, we would have been 6 points better off from our past 3 games. Still believe we can become competitive with this team, but the 'fans' are starting to slip back into their old moaning ways.

We won 2-1 at Dover.

There was a huge over reaction after 5 games. No one is saying we’re world beaters now, it’s just that five wins on the spin is impressive.

Orient likely to offer far sterner opposition than anyone we’ve faced so far, save perhaps for Harrogate. If we pick up a draw, or better, I think we can be fairly confident for the rest of the campaign.

I don’t anticipate there being too many good sides so we may only need to be functional to push for top half and beyond...
