Dreadful from Notts, fully deserved for Altrincham who worked hard and were a threat with the little possession they had. We have to learn that you can’t just turn it on at will and need to play with some kind of intensity and pace from the off. Our forwards were poor today, but by the time the ball got to them they were faced with ten defenders back in their shape and behind the ball. Took us so long to move it forward.

It’s a funny one because the first half was exactly the same last week, I really expected us to come out with a bit more intensity today from the start as we did after HT v Maidenhead.

Ah well, we have a favourable-ish home game next week to try to remedy matters, I think JoB and Mitchell might get a start in achieve exactly that.

It’s been fairly similar in the first half all season to be honest. Seems weird, but I think we could do with a ‘big game’ to get everyone going. All a bit going through the motions.

We were poor today but to draw like that is gutting. 2-0 up at home on the 87th min to draw…

Yes. Still haven’t scored a goal before the 40th minute, or something. Again it’s odd, because we didn’t play with a lack of intensity (1st half) under Burchnall last season. Hopefully see a response next week.

I actually think pound for pound with the fixtures teams have had, Notts County have low key had a really poor start

We need to kick on now. We scraped it today really. Great win and all that but one of them where the fans just kept getting behind us because we were against fancied opposition. We still didn't play any sustained good stuff. Wrexham were average tbh, reminded me of us to be honest. Same system, same issues.

We have had a tough 8 games fixture wise. No getting away from it. We have to kick on now until Christmas and make it count. Still haven't seen anything to prove we'll do it.

I think really poor is a bit strong, I’d probably say about average after today’s result.

Yeah, it’s been neither particularly impressive nor a disaster. I am a bit concerned that we seem to have exactly the same issues that have cost us a title push in the last two seasons, though - dropping too many points against likely bottom half sides, and struggling to win enough second balls in midfield.

Already feel nervous being at the top and we’re not even 10 games in!

You’d struggle to find anyone who thinks Taylor is a better footballer than Miller, but we’re already a tiny, skilful team that’s too easy to bully. Swap them two and it gets even worse, one of them that worked out for everyone.

I wasn’t there but I am assuming Weymouth were significantly inferior to just about everyone else we have faced this term… is that a fair comment?
I didn’t go to the Eastleigh match so can’t compare Weymouth to them but they were definitely well below Dagenham and Notts County. I do think if we are able to find an athletic, energetic DCM we’ll be alright. We’ve got an easier run of matches now, so hopefully this win won’t stand in splendid isolation.
Brennan seems to be a lot more aware of what’s going on than Kewell does as well.

Got a feeling this knack for conceding in the 96th minute may come back to bite us this season…

Summut not rate we this club, in world football ONLY Chesterfield FC could have managed to fuck up that 2 goal lead in stoppage time today. Gutting

Taylor is mostly poor and today was dire. Will not take the man on, always the backwards or sideways pass if possible.
Genuinely unsure if he has any pace at all because I've yet to see him prod the ball past a player and chase it.

Absolute gash from us today, all our weaknesses exposed. We've been threatening a full ninety like we've played too many first halves and today we managed one weak header on target on around 75 mins and that was it.
Thompson could have sat on a deckchair facing the crowd and it would have made no difference, we literally didn't test him.
Palmer was the only player in the midfield five who could justify picking up his wages this week. Francis pathetic, Brindley, Taylor, Roberts basically passengers, Kelly Evans played out of position and moderate.
Fair play to Altrincham, they're limited but made the best of what they've got and fully deserved the win.

Who’s the Taylor Jacob’s been watching then cos he sounds very different to the one you’ve seen if he’d prefer to have him over Miller!?

Taylor has moments of effectiveness, a few good passes but he at no point has terrorised a right back for a game.
To be fair I wasn't Miller's biggest fan either, it wasn't until the last half dozen games of the season that he came good, his best game being against you. I would swap him for Taylor as things stand though.

Proper sickener that. 2nd 96th min equaliser we’ve let in so cost us 4 points already. Gutting

Oh he was awful today, but one of many for us, horrible performance all round. Overall has been one of our better players so far, though, I would say. Although he’s been fairly different to what I expected - no worries at all defensively really, but not as much of a threat going forward yet as I’d hoped, particularly when we’ve played a back three.

I wouldn’t necessarily prefer to have him than Miller, either. In isolation there’s no question Miller is a better player, but in our team I think you’d create even more problems sticking CM in there as well.

Huge win for us at King’s Lynn today, especially playing 45 minutes with just 10 men. King’s Lynn do play it around nicely and stopped us trying to play it out of the back but imo they overplay it when there are simple passes to be made. That and they won’t want to see our goal again.

That point was incredibly evident in the second half when our compact defensive shape forced them to try speculative crosses and shots which we dealt with. Worryingly quite a few of our supporters were advocating the team push out which in turn would allow King’s Lynn to find pockets of space in between our defensive lines and that would have been a real issue.

Truly awful refereeing performance, it felt like 10 vs. 12 in that second half.

Finally, that’s the first time in a long time where I’ve not heard the home supporters sing one chant in the entire 90 minutes. Strange atmosphere.

So much for the new manager bounce...
Wild talked about that before the game and how to kill it. Remember he's now a "fantastic young coach" because he's learned those unspecified lessons Shayshite and the other idiot said he needed to learn. :ds:
