I see Lewis Salmon has scored for Alfreton tonight. I presume a loan until the end of the season?

We apparently got a fee for him from Forest last season. He never played a game for us, spent all his time here out on loan, I think maybe Trafford and Stalybridge?

Ha, I see Tom Peers has scored twice for Curzon, including a pen.

This lad must have some serious suitors for next season, really wish we'd of pushed the boat out in January for him, Marcus Carver just ain't up to it.
Some on our forum were raving about Carver after we played Southport in the cup. It's a view I never shared. I'm pretty sure one of the Chorley fans on here was quite a fierce critic of his?

I took a friend to the Deva Stadium tonight, which was a good training exercise for York City. 90 minutes of attack v defence. If York had got a striker we'd have been looking at 4 or 5-0. I don't think Watson is the answer. Yet another defeat by a team that is in a long list of our bogey teams.

Nothing game for us, didn't turn up and made York look a lot better than they actually are. That said, still one of the better ones to come down here.

We have been appalling lately.
Normally play well against teams that like to play ball on floor and are utter bollocks against physical long ball/throw teams.
So not looking good for play offs.

One of our board members gave the York following as 145, which looked right. Pathetic.

what do you expect when a short sighted club puts a deadline in tickets to be sold online only?

Don't forget that our shambolically run club neglected to publicise the fact that it was all-ticket until Sunday (less than 24 hours before the deadline) despite being informed by Chester the previous Wednesday. It was certainly a ridiculous decision by Chester to make it all-ticket for away fans in the first place, but some of the blame has to go to York City for this.

Also, whilst 145 is certainly a poor following (probably the lowest we've ever taken to The Deva), it's no less than Chester have historically brought to York on a Tuesday night, and they never had any mitigating circumstances re. all-ticket fiasco. 145 away fans= 1,383 home fans and I'd be much more concerned about that if I supported Chester. People in glass houses and all that...

Season over for us, flogged the season after a great first half of season…..injuries player sales and change of management messed it up.

Ah well good luck rest of sides we need like Chester to stop our rot before next season

Chester 1-0 Farsley

A poor and scrappy game, strange one as well because we were miles better than Farsley but we never quite killed it off. Should have finished it in the first half getting in to lots of good positions but quite shot shy and tried to walk the ball in. They had a bit of a spell in the second half but like us didn’t really trouble the keeper.

We were experimenting for next season with a different formation so were a bit lopsided at times.

Farsley were poor but not the worst of the bunch, should be fine with that four point cushion.

Looks like Watson will sign a deal for next year in the coming week. I’m happy with that, not pulled up any trees but nobody seems against it after inheriting the B&J mess and we now look much better and capable than at any other point this season.
is young Stanway still doing ok - I saw that he came back into the side for the Farsley game..... then on Sunday he took 3 wickets and hit 88 Not Out playing cricket....

Looking at the leagues below, B grading needs a capacity of 3000. Peterborough Sports, Warrington and Coalville don't appear to have that currently unless wiki etc is out of date. Anyone know?

I think you only have to meet C Grading when you get promoted (as within the Ground C grading is the requirement for plans on how you would expand to 3000 capacity, which is part of the Ground B grading requirement) and then you have till the end of march in the year after your promotion season to achieve the Category B Ground grading.

So all are eligible for promotion but some would require further Ground works during the season if they wanted to stay in the NLN.

Personally am hoping for Scarborough and Peterborough Sports from the playoff games. Decent localish game for Darlo vs Scarborough and Peterborough is easy for me to get to as a southern exile.

He’s looked very solid in the two games he should start every week for me.

The Safety Advisory Group (SAG) imposed that on us. Nothing to do with the club. 145 is still patheic from supporters of a club going for promotion from a city of the size of York.

Not quite. York Police gave our Police 'intelligence', ours shit themselves as they always do and told us to make it all ticket for away fans or face a big bill. This despite us telling them York wouldn't bring many and to disregard what they had been told. Not sure why York then sat on it for days though, easier to crack Welsh jokes on twitter than put out ticket info I suppose.

Pathetic all round really but not actually much we could do about it ourselves. Hardly going to take on the extra police bill to accommodate another two dozen away fans.

He got dropped a month ago and nobody knows why really, had lost five on the spin at that point so maybe it was just Watson freshening things up.

He looks good, MOTM the other night albeit a bit by default because so few did any good.

Was that the same when we played at yours? Saw a few Harriers fans on that Friday gutted they couldn't go as ticket sales stopped on the Thursday at 5pm

Yeah, Cheshire Police are a joke and what feels unfair to us is that they don't treat Crewe and Macc in the same way despite rowdier away crowds turning up at the former as well.

Unfortunately Telford fans misbehaved during the game and after in the City Centre a few months ago so they now overreact to any side who may bring a few.

Peterborough Sports have a decent ground, been improving it over the last year, not sure if they can afford improvements as they're always complaining they don't have enough fans to watch them (Just slightly better than Spalding, Stamford, Boston Town, Deeping Rangers etc).

Downside it's in a rough area of Peterborough and their manager's a massive Gammon.

Bit surprised but Watson won't be staying with us next season.

Think travelling was a factor, think he wanted us to go back full time as well when realistically we're not ready yet.

So much for crowd control from them when they couldn't handle 1 pitch invader :bg:

Surely Watson is going to Buxton?

That wouldn't surpise me.

No idea about us, Cunningham is obviously free now.

I'd love Artell in fantasy land, but that probably is the world that will only happen in. Used to play for us, lives in Chester, big on academy success which is our strength. Probably go for an academy job at a localish club though.

Get very entertaining football with Cunningham but I think he will have to watch he doesn’t slip up badly with his constant wanting away to better.

Surprised as Buxton have been about of a spending club, maybe the new bury fc option.

Going for promotion?

Not even the most optimistic York fan knows that we stand a chance in the playoffs if we do finish in them.

In the last 6 weeks York have played 8 away games.
Dagenham,Southport,Bromley,Brackley ,Kettering,Chorley,Alfreton. & Chester.
I didn’t do Chester but went to all the rest.
We have no chance in play offs not good enough.

Thats pretty much what I said without the detail. The York fans probably dont have the same 'lazy police' as we do.

As Blue and White said Cheshire Police are a joke. When that fan threw the smoke bomb on the pitch the copper nearby looked the other way.

To be fair to Charman, I think the Dale fans quite like him. Has made a couple of goals, and they are happy that with a full pre-season in him, he will do ok next season.
Charman took a few weeks to get fully match fit, but his all-round play has been pretty decent. I suspect once he gets a goal, he'll start getting them regularly.

We've also recalled Ethan Brierley from loan at Spennymoor in time for today's game - we're short in midfield so he might go straight in to the starting line-up.
