I’d maybe not sacked him but I can 100% understand why.

Overall he had a massive budget and failed, but you finished second and maybe if he’d got another season, added to what you have and had learnt from mistakes this season you could have pushed on.

Instead your now going to have a summer of mass changes, probably look around for a conf north manager as you will ‘assume’ that is the answer and give others with stability a better chance.

It has worked I suppose but I feel your like Stockport and they for me finally got out of this league when they allowed Gannon (the only manager they would) to get time even after failure to improve.

That period when Stockport fans wouldn’t accept anyone but Jim Gannon as manager was odd.
My top choice would be John Askey if he’s finished his Hartlepool pay off, realistically it’ll be Andy Butler

I could see it appealing to Askey, he’s had some shocking owners in his career and your current ones seem more sensible so would make a change for him. Wouldn’t shock me if Andy Crosby put in for your job. Great coach and will promote young talent, he was in hindsight too nice with us but ultimately couldn’t work around the complete stiffs he had to work with.

Awful decision to appoint Butler, we're going to be significantly worse next year and the fans that were screaming for Dean out will suddenly be like "Why did we sack Dean?" just like they did with Alexander

In other news, Blyth Spartans have appointed a former professional, ex Newcastle winger Nolberto Solano as manager
He’ll be shit, obvs.

Am I allowed to not go to the game and just hide somewhere? Watched us lose all 7 playoffs... don't want to do this anymore... it's long since stopped being fun.

I know I shouldn't winge - the 18 years I've been watching have been the best in the club's history, and what right does a little market town in Northants have to mix it with the non-league elite? Still...

Not sure about that call from the linesman there. Connor Hall looked onside from the camera angle at least. Great save initially by the Boston keeper.

It was kind of impossible to tell from the angle on TNT as he was behind the defender.

Yeah that’s the most stonewall penalty you’ll ever see.

Think Boston deserved that in the end. Good game overall though. Feel for Brackley, they must wonder what they’ve got to do.

Don't all clubs' away followings become much bigger in the bigger games? .... well, perhaps not Chorley's.

Wouldn't Darlington, for example, have a 'bertie big bollocks away following' too if they were involved in the Play-Offs?

Darlo brought 82 supporters to Boston this season, I'm pretty sure you'd be bringing, at the very least, 10 times that number if it was Boston United v Darlington in this Saturday's Play-Off Final.
82 supporters on a 3.5 hour journey, on a Tuesday night, when we were near bottom of the regional league division 6.

I remember Boston bringing about 30 to Darlo in League 2, same with Kiddy.

We are not the same.

PS Congrats on your promotion, though.

Well maybe they should stop spaffing big money on players and try spending within their natural means as the former doesn't work. The latter would probably see them exit the other way, though.

Absolutely sick as fuck of them still being here.

And the other semi finals for central league played tonight which again impact us as winner will come into this league the final is confirmed as:

Telford vs leamington

So a guaranteed return for one side.
I hope Telford come back up.

I was talking to a few of their fans at our place last season when we won 3-1. In all truth Telford looked a lot better than bottom of the league but as we all know, when you're down there, nothing works for you. Their fans were so despondent.

Anyway I told them that even if they went down that they would come straight back up because, well, they're Telford. And I'm never wrong.

Plus I've never heard of Leamington.

Well done Boston - 3 away wins, it’s the Lincolnshire way to do it. We did have 3x ET though, so not quite at our level.

Said it last week that they just felt like the team of destiny, nobody was gonna stop them

From the 96th minute equaliser at Notts in the QF that’s what it was like with us…as I said above it’s a great play-off structure, about the only thing the NL have got right…

I'm sorry our presence upsets you. God knows why it does mind you. I think there might be bigger things to worry about in the world.

I agree, it is the only thing they have got right, along with close ish games round Xmas. We had a fair 3 hour trip to Swindon on boxing day last year.

I really thought you were going to do it this year and after last seasons shit show ending at our place I was pulling for you to win, but it’always seems to be the team that comes with a late run to make the playoffs that wins it.

Congratulations to Boston on their promotion certainly had to do it the hard way.

Delighted for Boston to get up - as I've said previously I get to watch them a fair bit thanks to job and reasonable locality. Having an additional 'Midlands friendly' National League club to get to now Kidderminster have gone is useful particularly if Solihull get up this afternoon. Does mean I've lost most of the National League North sides nearest to me this season, Tamworth, Boston, Banbury and Bishop's Stortford all an hour and a bit from home, although with Kidderminster and probably Oxford City coming down into the league it could've been worse.

Thought on the day Boston were the better side and played some good stuff, although Brackley were unfortunate with the offside decision early on - looked tight on the TV replay and certainly not conclusive. Hard to argue for sure either way though.

We started well but brackley got on top and deserved to lead. Didn't look like breaking them down but the goal bang on HT really seemed to throw them as 2nd half they offered nothing and once we got ahead we were relatively comfortable
Just thrilled that for once, we're not the nearly men. Will make the most of next season, as anything 20th or above will be a tall order, given that we only came 6th this season in a poor league
Solihull and Bromley on now. Both look light years better than us

And we have our play offs decided today.

Marine beat Macclesfield and Leamington beat Telford so both of them teams will certainly enter here.

That is one enormous massive failure on macclesfields part, spent a fortune, 3 managers, just about two squads and all for nothing.

Now I can get back to summer of checking and hoping Curzon don’t lose most of their players this summer!!

Is it well deserved? Better team on the day - but surely Scunthope 'deserve' to go up. Boston won 2 games on pens after they seemed second best on the radio commentry, then won the final fair and square. Scunthorpe much the better side over the season.

And yes, I know that's how the playoffs work... I've seen a lot of them.

Scunny’s failed journo turned local councillor turned Hilton apologist has spoken out against our new manager, then had a go at the fans website(again) and there’s been a bit of a pile on

Never a dull moment on Scunny X/Twitter

Marine in this division next season, congrats to Neil Young, it's his seventh promotion.

Not sure what the situation with the ground is for them though, don't think it meets the grading criteria and there's not much you can do to it either.

Their ground won't meet the criteria, and they may struggle to get it up to standard due to the lack of space they have. They need to get the capacity up to 3000 and demonstrate an ability to expand to 4000, both of which would be a challenge without knocking down their current stand behind the goal and building something massive that would involve where their car park and social club currently are. There are other issues too such as segregation and permanent toilet facilities in the segregated area.

If they stay up next season they may have to look for a groundshare, but hopefully that won't be with us. Waterloo Rugby Club would need a bit of work but would at least keep them in Crosby.
