Look Carson, I'm not sure what's got you worked up- unless its your frank admission about what you like to do- but you need to wait until BTTF gets here really. The rest of us just like to talk to each other normally.
??? Don't bring me into it, you got yourself into this shit I'm not digging you out. Peace Brother Carson, go get the bastards, son. :bdick:

First thing I'll talk about was the atmosphere, absolutely fucking superb. Best away atmosphere for years, non stop singing, however if you're taking numbers there good luck, was a shambles, more of that later.

The game - Kings Lynn got well and truly Phil Browned. It's like he's never been away, we start well, we score, we play for about the next 10-15 mins, then we just drop back and decide to try and play on the break. Having said that we still had by far the best chances and if Murphy especially had, had his shooting boots on it would have been 3 or 4. I couldn't tell what formation we were playing and he played Jack Bridge as left wing back, he does love a random non-winger on the wing does Phil.
Best players were Coulson, looked unfit and carrying a few extra pounds but his reading of the game was exceptional, right place, right time all the time. Ogogo who looked equally composed in the midfield and Dalby up front who scored, got the flick ons, held the ball up well, did all that was asked of him.

Kings Lynn looked ok up top, some really nice football from them in and around our box, just not clinical but at the back they were not so good. Any pressure they gave the ball straight back and couldn't hit an accurate pass any further than 5 yards. Their keeper was their best player, pulled off some wonder saves. I'll predict that they will give someone a spanking 4 or 5 but one or more of the better teams in this division will give them a pasting 7 or 8. Oh and they also had a winger who was slower than Jason Demetriou, who is now 65 years old and doesn't have knees.

So onto their shambles of a set up - I turned up 30 mins before kick off to find a rammed away end which had 2 stewards attempting to hold back hundreds of Southend fans from a section (with our fans in already) that they had decided to close. You can obviously imagine how that went. The open terrace behind the goal they gave us one half and as more people piled in the suggestion was made by one or two that they should just open the other half to us as well (at this point the other half had about 30 Kings Lynn fans in). That was too sensible for them, they just let more and more people pile in. They eventually opened it around 40 minutes into the first half.
I hang around to speak to players after the game, while I was there I was chatting to some Kings Lynn official, he said they'd sold too many tickets to us and also had the problem that they'd halved their stewarding numbers for the coming season. I asked what they're going to do when others come to town, notably Notts County, who I'd think could bring double what we took. He just said he didn't know, they'd see when the time comes! I reckon they should just give 2 full sides and half the seats to the clubs that will bring a lot to them.

And finally - briefly met the Kings Lynn owner before the match and you'll be pleased to know other than his shirt he and Phil Brown were dressed completely the same.
Did you sing "One nil to the Football League"? It's kind of obligatory when you first get here and its best to do it early on, cuz the opportunities diminish as the seasons and the years progress. :ds:

You've played us at the Shay 7 times in your history and your record is W2 L5. The 4-2 you've completely made up, we won 3-2 last season.

Seems a bad time for a CFC fan to tiptoe back onto the forum for the first time in a while...

Going back to the actual game... first half I thought Aldershot matched us without really threatening to score.

Second half we turned the screw a bit and it seemed inevitable that we would go on and win the match.

Tshimanga looks to be an excellent signing and I can see now why so many clubs were after him.

I don't think we started our full strength 11, and I can see Khan and Clarke both starting ahead of Weston and Mandeville next week.

You've got to play Clarke haven't you. He's the one with the keys. The pen for the 1st goal, I suspect it wasn't the challenge on King but on Clarke when he burst into the box like that and the geezer just stepped into his path, it was absolute stonewall. The balls broke to King so the refs tried to play on, then brought it back when it came to nothing. He's got that kind of stuff in his locker and no one else has really (apart from Tshimanga it seems). Ideally you'd find a way to start Mandeville and Clarke but I don't think there's room for them both to play in that formation, it's lovely to have the option though if one of them isn't having a good game.

Aldershot (and Boreham Wood, apparently )
Are you the Karl Ready who played for QPR in the 90s?
Nah, he spent his last year or so at Aldershot. Classy injury-prone CB , with a totally shaved head, long before it was trendy. My son was a big fan, got a photo with him somewhere. Happy days…

Wow! I was wondering why this thread was 13 pages long!! Brightened my Monday morning up.

Great day out at Solihull, they are always tough but played good stuff as well and were the better team until we shocked them with two quick goals then we were on top until the obligatory retreat into ourselves to try and keep the lead.....the deserved equaliser was always coming.

Mullin and Hayden clearly look a cut above, Hyde was very good and young Cleworth did really well on his full debut, Jones was good for an hour as well. Apart from that we were steady/average.

Rumours have gone mad for us on social media and it should be an interesting week, if we get half of what we are linked to then who knows what we will look like this time next week......Our starting XI on Saturday probably only had 5 of what will be our first choice starters.

Love a corner routine goal. Barnet's defence looks cracking, the gap between the two CB's and room in behind for your fourth in particularly delightful.

That first goal was a stinker, he had the entire penalty box to himself.

Edit: Okay and the last two were even worse!

Barnet still have their defensive woes it seems though, some of that looked awful. County could be a danger though if you get a head of steam behind you playing like that

They were all over the place once we got in front, trying to play a high line. We’ll catch a few teams out trying that though, it seems an obvious plan as on paper we’ve got Wootton playing as a lone striker who’s never running away from anyone, but that’s kind of hiding the number of midfielders/wing backs running in behind we’re managing to get.

Our corners/free kicks will be interesting this year. We’ve just appointed a specialist set piece coach, which I’m assuming is unique for this league. Decent start for him!

So as Evil Bosses go, just how Evil is this Rowe at Chesterfield? This is the guy who was at Gloucester? I need some kind of comparison, is he at Steve Evans level?

More Westley than Evans for me. A pantomime villain rather than an actual one.

As long as the football isn't Westley like then fine. The issue with Chesterfield will remain them leaving a classic old football ground to go to a lego set.

Don't forget about Westley though the *alleged* stealing of Farnborough FC money. He's just cleverer than Evans.

He hasn't committed tax fraud or got his chopper out yet, so not quite Evans level. The blot on his copybook is his conduct towards West Ham youth players, plus according to some Aldershot fans his treatment towards their young 'uns as well. He's a winner and like some winners he can be a tosser and a sore loser. Obviously summat he needs to work on but Priti Patel is still in Government so our James is alright for now I'd say. And not many of our youth players ever amount to anything so get 'em bullied, says I.

I think Rowe clearly falls into both categories of ‘obviously a nobhead’ and ‘good football manager’. He’s hardly alone in that.

Those goals are shocking!!

Every single one the whole defence and midfield are completely static, may as well sent out the training dummies.
If Kewell manages to keep his job long enough you'll be involved in at least one 5-4 this season.
Even playing the yoofs and how awful we started last season his Oldham side still managed to concede more goals than us!
If he can get Barnet firing like he did Oldham you'll be the most entertaining watch in the division.
