You'll be on the left facing the pitch, and your seats will be in the main stand

We weren't on Saturday.

Will the bar be open to away fans?

But Saturday wasn't segregated. No it's not even open to half of the home fans which is a shitter. Understandable though because we were only a few hundred people off a dangerous situation when everyone piled into half a stand at the Grimsby game.

FGR have form for not providing enough seats, they gave us a massive 42 seats when we went there in September, leading to one old lady being caught up in the ruckus when we went 2-1 up and being crushed against the fence at the front of the terrace. This, despite a whole block being free.

If they had literally only had 42 seats then I might understand it, but when there was a whole block of a good 150 or so going empty then it smacked of just trying to get one over us.

Not to mention their knobhead stewards/night club bouncers.

Doubt I'll ever go there again.

All that with the fact it's in the arse end of nowhere makes it the worst away day going

0.5 miles away from nailsworth? There's a few decent pubs down there. Dover isn't exactly a exciting away day for fans either..

Yes but I don't have to go on an away day in Dover.

Come on, Nailsworth is hardly the most connected place in the world is it

Can't wait for later, just gutted I have work first before heading down :( I'm confident tonigjt but like most fgr fans I don't know what to expect, don't know the formation, the players Scott will choose and how we'll play, if us fgr fans don't know I doubt Dover will!!

I think you'll probably find that most "normal" fans would much prefer a trip to Dover (with the potential for trips to Calais for cheap booze/ fags etc, seaside resort and just in general, things to do) than a trip to the arse end of nowhere to a meat free shit pit with over enthusiastic stewards.

The Cotswolds are one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country.

And there are plenty of places you can get decent grub in Nailsworth, whether it be burgers, fish and chips, Indian, Chinese, Kebabs, Italian or posher stuff + several quality pubs. Why would you get food at a football ground, like at most it's shit and over priced and was before we stopped selling meat.

Sometimes only a cheap base-spec catering burger on a rubbery bread roll (with a slice of fluorescent orange cheese) will hit the spot. Unfortunately for the rest of us, FGR like to dictate how we eat at football grounds. It reminds me of that South Park episode where the green brigade loved the smell of their own farts so much that they disappeared up their own arseholes. Hopefully they'll do the same.

Maybe so but many people simply like to pick up a burger OF THEIR CHOICE at the game. I usually do but would never touch one at FGR. The whole feel of FGR is not one of a footballing experience, more one of a hiking expedition in the countryside.

You only have to visit once a season ffs. The vast majority of our fans are meat eaters, but put up with the lack of choice every week without whinging all the time. Most just get on with it, either get what's there (mainly chips for most), bring their own stuff or get food before/after the game.

I can put up with only having a couple of pints and some chips at a game, watching a well financed team win most weeks and getting a kebab afterwards in town. It's not that horrendous.

Someone has been brainwashed by Mr Vince it seems...
The whole no meat/no milk is farcical. I understand what you mean about places to eat in town but some people don't want to trek 15 minutes up and down a mountain to get there.

I understand the principle of no meat, know many Veggies myself, though they never force their views and ideals onto me,this is different, this is him saying I don't eat them so you can't, that can't be right surely?

Out of curiosity, does he allow smoking in the ground, I assume he doesn't but how weird would it be if banned pies but allowed smokers?

What I totally find staggering is the no milk bit. Is that right, I only drink tea or Bovril at games, and as I assume drinking the latter is punished by ejection I am left to drinking tea...but no milk?

WTF?

Smoking is allowed, in designated smoking areas.

And yes, there is no proper milk unfortunately. Which is a bit shit.

What gave you the ridiculous idea that drinking Bovril would get you ejected. How many times does it need to be said, MEAT PRODUCTS ARE NOT BANNED. THEY ARE JUST NOT SOLD ON THE PREMISES. You are fine to bring your own Bovril cubes, in and just get hot water if you want. I know some that do.

Its interesting that the same Grimsby man that was photographed being ejected from our ground was apparently also ejected from Cheltenhams ground this season. Different stewards same man, but all must be down to the stewards no doubt

That seems to be the only reason for the anti steward stuff posted here. This seasons match Vs GTFC the thuggish stewards banned all Grimsby Fans from bringing in any inflatables and even went so far as stopping several from spilling onto the pitch when Disley scored. How intolerant is that..... Oh wait!

Indeed people wanting proper milk or Bovril will need to bring their own. Hot water in a cup is free here, unlike the £2.00 (Or was it £2.50for Bovril at Cheltenham :box:

Turns out we've not got any seating at all on Saturday - classy.

Never mind, finished work, see you all in the pub. Cannot wait

Yep, ChrisFGR was well within his rights to do that to him.

Haven't read anything about him getting ejected at Cheltenham, either? Have you got a source for that?

I really am struggling to understand how all of these FGR fans seem to think that a visit to the New Lawn is such a good footballing experience. It's not and will I can already envisage that if they do go up, the football leaguers would feel exactly the same. It's simple, FGR is a garbage place to watch football, it's a soulless, meat free, communist like shed in the arse end of nowhere full of west country hillbillies chewing on corn.

I had a horrible experience at The New Lawn this season. I'd considered eating in Nailsworth first but on my way through the traffic was quite busy and it looked a pain to find somewhere to park, so for the sake of convenience I headed straight to the ground. Arrived by car about 90 minutes before kick-off and was directed to a nearby school to park. Before entering I asked the bloke manning the car park whether food was available at the ground - he told me that I'd be able to get some food in the bar at the ground so I paid £5 (rip off) and parked up. At this stage it was pissing it down so I headed over to the sparsely populated bar and tried to enter. The thug on the door growled "TICKETS PLEASE" so I pulled out my match ticket for him to inspect, only for him to reply "NO AWAY SUPPORTERS". Apart from my ticket (and accent), there was nothing to identify me as an away supporter - I tried to explain to the bloke I just wanted some food as I'd been in the car for 4 hours and wasn't going to make a scene, but he wouldn't relent and told me to stand outside the away end (in the rain) and wait for it to open. He was unable to provide me with even an estimate as to when the away turnstiles would be opened. Brilliant and friendly customer service.

At this stage I considered driving back to Nailsworth to get some food, only to remember I'd spent a fiver on parking after the bloke there told me I could get some food in the pub at the ground. Not wanting to pay again for parking I considered walking down to Nailsworth in the pissing rain. By this point there was only about 70 minutes to kick off which didn't seem to be long enough to sample Nailsworth's cultured array of meat inclusive catering options and make it back up to the ground in time for kick-off, so I spent the next 20 minutes sheltering from the rain in my car, in a school playground waiting for the away end to open.

When the turnstiles finally opened I managed to get some food. A 'Q-pie' (shite), some chips (ok) & a tea (ruined by soya milk).

What a fucking wonderful away day that was. Thankfully the result made the dreadful reception totally worth it. No surprise the only people defending The New Lawn 'experience' are the delusional FGR supporters on here.

I read it in the fishy forum mate- posted in the Cheltenham match thread there the other week, search under the mans name as Im pretty sure that was who by name was quoted as being ejected, if not then certainly it was identified that the same man had been ejected (Some derogatory comments about 50 ish years olds behaving like this made, understandably) .

Here we are, found it http://forum.thefishy.co.uk/Blah.pl?m-1459543635/s-70/

"FANS - I was quite ashamed at the behavior of a minority of our fans. Smoke bombs, stupid, pointless and dangerous. There was one idiot who grabbed the ball and throw it as hard as he could at their player, it was stupid and there was no need for, but it was OTT to throw him out. The FGR headlock guy, well what can I say? This is the 2nd time I have seen you ejected from a ground, the 1st I gave you the benefit of the doubt for the FGR incident and thought you aggressive reacted was a one off. But last night from the moment you entered the ground you was looking to kick off, with stewards, police and I think our own fans. You should have been kicked out of the ground earlier than you were. You are a middle aged man FFS, get a grip. You also had a few cronies around you who were also trying to kick off, this is the reason why Town fans are given a bad name and have enforced dry trains and excessive police presence. Simply not good enough. "

Edit- Chrisblor, apparrently Kidderminster had trouble from Grimsby fans this season so thats I imagine why they wouldnt let you in. Usually away fans are welcome. Wasnt it possible to ask if they could keep your car space while you went down to Nailsworth. TBH most fans are aware that buying food in a ground isnt a wise investment, and neither is parking in car parks when theres loads of off road parking available.

Personally I think Forest Green have a cheek to put a football ground in the middle of fucking nowhere then charge for the privilege of parking your car nearby!

I don't ever really read The Fishy so I don't really know which posters are trustworthy or not but that doesn't read well for the headlock guy. Was still dealt with excessively but I was still of the opinion he was the mild mannered middle aged bloke enjoying his inflatable and the match with his daughter that the papers made him out to be, so cheers for that link as it's made me consider that that might not/probably isn't the case now.

I don't recall any trouble with the Grimsby fans, they packed out the away end and brought all there inflatable fish, if I remember correctly a fan or two might have got on the pitch when they scored their second but no real issue as they'd have just been escorted off. My guess is the only trouble was for a clean up staff as there was inflatable fish and rubbish in the stand but what do you expect when the ground is packed?

EDIT Actually I remember they destroyed some flowers outside my house. DARN YOU GRIMSBY FANS!!!

Grimsby fans owe us an apology me thinks. Having had a go at us when all that happened was that utter scum was treated the way utter scum should be. And their local press are a joke too, falling for the "Im just an innocent little yob who's never done nothing look here's my daughter" bollocks.

A couple of them got on the pitch when they scored at our place - just some drunk Belgian lads apparently :dis:. Half expected some bother with the reputation Grimsby have but they were a sound bunch on the whole

As with most walks of life a few idiots tarnish the reputation of the many.

Ive always enjoyed the Grimsby fans visiting us. The headlock was an embarrassment and looks poor we all agree and the club did review things after that.
The "trouble at kiddie" was reported to FGR fans when we tried and couldnt get to get the the bar at Aggborough. Think the trouble was probably because one Grimsby fan was disappointed in the quality of the pies and another was disappointed it took 20 minutes to be served as Kidderminster hadnt anticipated that the whole of Cleethorpes would come to sample the Kidderminster pies for the last season till they return to Div 2 :ohy:.
