Guys I’ve come to this thread to try to find out first hand what happened between Solihull Moors and Maidenhead, not really sure what I’ve just been reading, but I feel less informed now than I did before.

No. I made a decision myself based on the tediousness of the content.

If you want 'banter', go and find a rubbish 'banter' page somewhere else like the 'National League banter page' on facebook or whatever the equivalent is. 1FF has always been a decent place to post for Non-League content and it shall stay that way. I haven't had to use a mod button probably in about a year. Too much rubbish today though and it puts decent posters off of commenting on the weekend's action.
Well done Mr. Wilson. A bit of relatively friendly repartee is welcome, but this thread has become tedious and unpleasant. Some of us are genuinely interested in the performance of other clubs; there must be another outlet for mud-slinging and insult. How about a little circle of PMs?

Totally agree, Grimsbys performance of parking the bus at home didn't work for them. We (Chesterfield) were average at best , that said it was only Grimsby. We ( Chesterfield) are enjoying our time at the top of the league. Can't speak for the Grimsby lot who are in free fall.
.
.
PS we're not tired of playing the teams below us.

This is why have to get out of this league. Shitty non league teams parking the bus because they can't really compete.
Were nothing special, but didn't really need to be playing against you lot. Think you need a new driver for your bus or a bigger bus
Chesterfield did what needed to be done against a team playing at home who's only game plan was to park the bus.
Not from you sweetie pie. But I hope you enjoyed your lesson on Saturday on how to take 3 points from a team playing at home who's only game plan was to take a point by parking the bus.

I think we get it la.

I have a problem with people's opinion when it's just unoriginal tripe. "Smell of fish mate LOL." Boring as fuck. Curious about whether or not you thought you were being genuinely witty when you were hitting post on half the things you've been saying over the last 24 hours or so?

Haha, forgot about that. "What's it like to see a crowd?" Well in the case of B2TF he posts a picture of it on a forum and changes his pants. Bet he still talks about it to his mate IRL.

Cheers, that definitely marries up with what our commentary was saying. Are you talking about Efete when you mention strength there? He's been our best player over the last month or so by a mile. Would like to see him utilised in a more attacking role personally as we have Ryan Sears and RB who also seems like a very competent full back at this level.

Crowd noise wise, it sounded fairly flat on the radio. I don't think the mics pick up the away end that well to be honest, as it sounded like mainly like home support that were the loudest which definitely isn't the case as often as we'd hope.
Michee Efete played as a wing back for us and got a few goals as well.

I’ve found the post in question. However, just to be clear, I only moderate the Non League forum. I hadn’t seen that post as it was in the League 2 area.
It’s nothing to do with personal preference. If a post is offensive or is simply made for baiting only, then it has no place here. However, I do have a life and don’t spend every moment on here so use the report option if there are particular posts that have offended you as I may miss them. Then I can delete them when I come on if necessary.
Apologies, I let the Scunny troll get under my skin with that post as I was trying to sleep but my next door neighbours were having windows installed so I got mightily pissed off and over reacted.
The other part of that post about him being sad and pathetic I stand by though as he clearly is.

It’s both very impressive and something for the rest of us to cling onto.

I don’t know about you but I’m relatively optimistic about our game with them.
You may just be the first team with a pulse we've played so you should be.

Just watched the highlights for our match sent over by Grimsby - gloriously biased commentating, I enjoyed it, particularly the 'yep' when Tshimanga scores:

Fairly, we’re generally good against the good teams (if we can ignore ten minutes of madness at Halifax…), and I never really mind playing teams on a good run. Desperate for Dover to get a win before we play them, though.

It probably won’t be a great game, tends not to be when both teams would really be fairly content with a draw.

I don't think you understand mate, it's called banter and he's really really good at it.

I'm wondering if he could do a job even more advanced. Kind of like how Wolves use Adama Traore. What I will say about him though is that he's more solid defensively than what you guys let on when we signed him.

Haha I knew it would be John Moore on comms as soon as I saw your post. That "yep" is one of his special moves. Gloriously biased is a pretty accurate way of describing his style.

Great finish, the only real bit of quality in front of goal has won it so it's fair enough. Looked like a draw was probably a fair result though, could have gone either way. We're just not getting the rub of the green at all, as evidenced by Crookes' miss at the death there. McAtee's red card last week seeming more and more like a hammer blow now watching that back.

Classic isn't it. We sometimes have 'Big Al' (I think it is?) who commentates our games who is similar although not quite as biased. Despite doing it since before we were non-league (and I assume it's the same for your guy), there's just something so quintessentially non-league about these types of commentators.

Yeah I didn't manage to make the game, gutted I missed it but I try not to palm off my son to his grandparents often and I'll be doing that for the Chelsea game so needs must. Sounded fairly dour on the commentary, from the highlights I'd say we both have two good chances each so probably a draw would've been fairer but Rowe is doing such a good job of getting us victories in these more even type of games.

Yeah, he's been one of our two main commentators for as long as I've supported Town. Along with John Tondeur who is the complete opposite really, quite impartial but he makes it sound like the other team has a golden opportunity as soon as they enter our half.

Have you been to Stamford Bridge before? We got battered 7-1 there in the League Cup a few seasons ago but was still a decent night out. They made it £10 for all tickets so there was a good turnout. I was really impressed by the stadium though. I was up in one of the corners and had an absolutely great view.

Our volunteer commentator said the sides were ‘taking the knee in support of racism’ on 1866 Sport on Saturday.

It’ll be intriguing.
We are playing ‘different’ football due to the injuries so I don’t expect us to have the lions share of the ball. We are force to play 1 up top when our preferred formation would see Tshimanga up top with either Danny Rowe or a fit Asante.
Rowe is focused on us maximising number of chances and just limiting other teams at the moment, knowing that if we get 2/3 quality chances in front of Tshimanga and keep a clean sheet we’ve an excellent chance of taking all 3 points.
My prediction would be Notts to have 60% + possession but less chances. Low scoring game finishing 1-0/0-0/0-1.

Yeah, that sounds about right. It’s rare we have less than 60% possession tbh, but sometimes it does go stale if a team defends well and we can’t get in behind. Probably be a set piece either way, we still struggle a bit defending them but have become extremely good at attacking ones this season.

That Chesterfield goal was criminal to concede IMO, such a simple move well executed.

Pearson was terrible there as was John-Lewis for losing Tshimanga. Absolutely brilliant finish though.

My favourite is when that Grimsby player absolutely barrels into the back of Khan, sends him flying, the commentator: he was off balance

Still pissed off about our defeat. Had a sneaky suspicion we'd lose momentum with that cup game and then we've got another next week in the pointless FA Trophy.

Long way to go but we need to focus and we don't have a focal point without Quigley who was ill on Saturday. Don't know if it was Covid but with the new variant, it is rife everywhere at the moment. I think there could be a lot of P-P's over Xmas

I know i'm late to the party with this but just watched the highlights of our game on YouTube and the Grimsby commentator is amazing!

Loved the one where he was praising Efete for tracking back...."one minute ago he was in the other end of the field". He wasn't running in the grounds of Chatsworth house FFS!

To be fair though John Moore is miles better than the other guy who sometimes does our commentary whose tone never changes even if we’ve just scored a 30 yard winner in injury time.

Yeah, this is definitely going to happen. Feels like the National League is set up for nefarious Christmas fixture scroogings over the next month or so.
