Aldershot (and Boreham Wood, apparently )
I'm sure the nation was gripped by the match last night- I can't quite see the point of televising Conference matches. Most of the truly committed will be at the game, and there is nothing to attract the casual punter. It would be interesting to see accurate viewing figures.I watched it,as I couldn't attend, and it was awful.

There's certainly no point in showing teams who have no desire to actually get out of this league. And there's even less point in showing tinpot sides who don't even have anyone at the game, let alone watching it on TV.

Aldershot look like they’re trying to make their way out through the basement door.

What the hell have happened to Aldershot? That was painful from them last night against an extremely limited side in Havant.

The last couple of years we were down here, Waddock seemed to have them playing some decent attacking football with tonnes of pace in the side. Last night there was little of that.

Just a squad that had come or are coming to the end of their cycle?

So much wrong with us this season. Recruitment has been terrible and the team has no confidence. One outfield player over 6 foot tall in the squad and Waddock wonders why we concede so many from set pieces? Absolute joke.

The worst part is Havant were really poor. Defended bravely but such a technically limited side. Long, hard season ahead for us.

Surely Fenelon and Rendell are 6 foot+? And one of your CB’s must be too.

Josh Lelan is wasted in that Aldershot side, should really be playing League 1 or Championship football but instead he’s carrying a struggling Conference side, Aldershot should do the decent thing and allow him to move higher up the ladder for the sake of his career.

Has this Lelan turned into the new Rakish Bingham? Has that weird Carlisle fan made a new avatar yet for Lelan?

Have to say I expected Harrogate to adapt well to the level but have been surprised by just how well they have started. Simon Weaver is doing a very good job.

They’ve adapted very well darksith. Best side I’ve seen at our place for a long time (until Salford the other night)
Very good footballing side, bite in midfield with that little lad. Could be wrong but I’m sure I saw him playing for Darlington and a front 3 that cause you problems. Wished Muldoon never left us. We certainly miss him

Lelan is fucking awful. He can defend ok, but ask him to pass the ball more than 5 yards and he is hopeless. Waddock also likes his defenders to carry the ball out from the back and he can’t do that either. Quite simply on of the worst signings Waddock has made, and to pair him with permacrock Karleigh Osbourne, well, Waddock needs sectioning.

They were decent at ours and deserved the 2 all draw they got.

After seeing them at our place early on I’m surprised they’re doing as well as they are. We absolutely carved them to pieces and we’ve not exactly started well either. Their keeper was utterly unbelievable that day and had MOTM sewn up in 30 mins.
Left the ground thinking they were in for a tough year. Given where they are and their assessments on here, it goes to show how all over the place we are at the moment.

First chance I’ve had to write this..
Anyway.. that’s now 2 Tuesday night home games, 2 0-0’s. Both good games still though.
I’d say the first half was even, with either side having 10 minute spells of dominance and both had the beating of each other. Fondop’s strike out of nowhere from 30+ yards that crashed off the bar was incredible, shame it didn’t go in.
I think we had one strong shout for a penalty near the end of the first half, as it looked like the Halifax defender moved his hand towards the ball to knock it away from Rutherford as he would have been clean through, albeit from an angle.
Second half was largely dominated by us though, although we never tested the keeper enough, but we moved the ball around well.
Decent pairing up front for Halifax, with some pace and strength, although it was mainly Edwards who was providing most of the quality and had a great battle with Lawlor all game. Difficult debut for Lawlor, he showed a few nerves on the ball (understandable), he struggled with the weak kicks of the keeper and Edwards had the beating of him a few times, but having said that, he did deal with everything that came into the box.
MOTM was given to Pearson and he definitely looked back to his best, I would’ve given it to Summerfield though, thought he was great all game, giving us the much needed drive in midfield, with plenty of quality coming off his boot. Pyke also had one of his best games for us, especially that first half, he showed pace, power and even some first class touches in tight spaces. He was less effective when moved central after Fondop went off though.
Happy with a point as that was a difficult game. It makes the need for a win on Saturday v Braintree even greater now though.. and everybody knows what it’s like to play at Braintree..

I dont think both are meant to play together. I think its supposed to be one of them with Fowler. That said I dont think Waddocks recruitment has been as good in the last 8-12 months compared to his first season and that is the key factor behind our recent struggles.

Absolutely spot on. Unfortunately there are stirrings of discontent already from some of our vocal morons who are not happy that Edwards isn't getting a goal every game. Fortunately we have a manager who knows what he is doing, and Edwards will remain the team's spearhead. :ds:

Yeah I mean, he doesn’t look like a goalscorer, but he has other qualities that he can offer. Southwell is a goalscorer, so those two should work well together as a partnership.
