Fylde only tonk good teams. The better you play, the more you concede. If you beat Fylde, that must mean you're really shit...
Beat Aldershot 7-1 and Macclesfield 6-0, lose to Guiseley 0-1. Sounds about right.

What an knob Doswell the Sutton manager is. Just read his diatribe about how Chester's financial plight being their own making. He then goes on to say that their cup money has been spent on a new tea bar. He doesn't have a fucking clue. Rather than spout shite just say nothing. God help League 2 if they get promoted.

Surely the money from selling out to The Sun and those betting scams equated to more than just a new tea bar?

The only one talking crap is you. Who spent Chester's money then? Magic bloody fairies? If you spend money you don't have then you're going to get into financial trouble.
BTW in case you weren't able to read Dos also mentioned that we spent money on floodlights and that we plan to redo social facilities (plus we paid off the pitch). Oh, and he praised your club.

Our plight is all down to a (volunteer) board and a manager, who despite not winning a home game for nearly a year wasn't sacked in the summer. He was then allowed to spend our biggest ever budget which was boosted from the sale of Sam Hughes to Leicester City based on the same crowds (2,100) as last season. We also had a £100k contingency fund, which was supposed to be ring-fenced for emergencies which was nearly all spent. The 8 players he signed, 5 on 2-year deals, have won 6 games this season and after 58 years of supporting Chester are the worst bunch I've seen. We're only alive because of the £100k us fans raised once the shit hit the fan. What worries me is that 6 of the numpties that got us in this mess are still on the board. We're supposed to be fan-owned but we were kept in the dark and fed shit. It doesn't help when you're on the verge of extinction and someone chips in with assumptions.

Mate, whilst your plight is horrid, how is any of it not the fault of Chester FC, particularly spending money they don't/didn't have? Judging by what you've written any 'assumptions' are based on fact

The Dover penalty was the right decision one of those things where Sutton tried to get the ball but did the man instead. Can’t recall the penalty we didn’t get in this one?

If we face Dover in the play-offs, I’d have little confidence of making any progress.
Sure, it was a stonewall penalty. However we should have had one 30 seconds earlier, which would have also prevented theirs.

No fear going into the playoffs at all, especially with it looking like Fylde aren’t consistent enough to make the playoffs.

Chester FC are the fans and we've been let down by a board that didn't sack McCarthy despite Mark Maguire (now sacked himself) insisting he was the right man to lead us. None of the fans thought that. Our budget was enough to mount a play-off challenge. McCarthy signed dross journeymen which looked good on paper. It's complicated. The fact is when you are fan-owned you have to get everything right and we didn't. We've wasted so much money paying off Burr and then McCarthy. I think and hope that with some of the original board back we won't make those mistakes again. Looking forward to not having to travel to places like Dover, Dagenham and Maidstone.

What do you think for next season mr blue? Assuming salford and kiddy go up ... will you look to halt the slide or bounce back? Solihull or brackley will be the favs ( if they are there) i feel that if you take chances on a few kids and maybe get a tie up with us or wrexham to loan young players you may be lower playoffs

They've beaten us 2-0 in league and cup at their place too.

I think the point with Doswell is that there's no need whatsoever for him to talk about Chester's financial issues - what has it got to do with him???

Another chance to try and say they absolutely have not spent shit loads on players.

If he wants to stay in the NL so much why does he keep signing better players like Beautyman etc. Just fuck it off and let those who actually want promotion to crack on with it.

"It is a strange thing for us. If we do go up, great, if not then equally as great and I really mean that. We are in the National League and we feel that it is the right league for us. It is a win-win for us."

Knows it would RUIN them.

Er, because whilst promotion would be great, it wouldn't be the end of the world if we stayed down. Whatever happens we're going to finish in our highest league position ever.
As for talking about Chester it was an interview to a Chester reporter after playing Chester (in fact Dos' comments to the local and club media made little or no mention of Chester). And he was stating cold, hard, unfortunate facts. We do our best to live within our means, and other clubs don't (for a variety of reasons). We are a part-time team, we are run by volunteers but we want to grow and progress as a club (hence some of our signings - albeit on effectively a one in one out policy, and our community work and cheap season ticket offers to increase attendances).
