Oh dear...
It’s based on the 91 retro away kit which was a classic.

The home one was equally as out there that season!

One of many kits around that time that looked like the designer had dropped some acid before doing it. Hull had one around a similarish time and Stoke came up with some really weird purple away one too. If we were doing the full on retro 90's stuff would have liked us to go back to the old badge as on the one above though.

Apparently the badge colour on the new kit is homage to that badge.

I suppose this is a benefit of releasing home and away kits on alternate years. Errea only had to concentrate on our home kit this summer as we're using last season's away kit for a second year. Next year they'll only work on the away kit, as the home is used for a second year.

Explains why our away kit hasn't appeared then.

We change all three of ours every year now, we used to do like you an alternate.

The third kit is only a very small run of shirts, though.

Our switch to Macron last season has been a god send, both years designs have been well received by the fans and both years have been on sale reasonably early by Wednesday standards.

We've been with them so long, the majority of our fanbase has never known another kit manufacturer.
Errea have been poor for us this year, great designs (which we do) but the sponsors logo has been falling off in the wash on a fair few tops! Seem to have gone downhill a bit as were always decent before.

Away kit only out last weekend and still no home keeper tops or training gear on sale.

They seem to have a quite a few clubs this year. I note they're doing Middlesbrough again, and Sheffield United.

The big issue I've had with Errea over the years is the colour running on the stripes. This isn't every kit, only a couple. They've been great in their designs for us the last couple of years though. This year's is outstanding. I much prefer them to an Adidas or Nike template, though the majority of our fans are the other way around on that.

We had Errea the season before last, decent blue and amber kit. Then in comes Steve Cotterill, announces that he wants Umbro!.
We paid Errea off for the second year of their contract, Umbro tell us that they can't do a bespoke blue and amber in time so we end up with an off the shelf blue and yellow stripes ( TBF some opposition fans thought we had changed deliberately to show solidarity with Ukraine)
Eighteen months on and Umbro finally have delivered our blue and amber stripes for the team. No news on the second kit.
Thanks Mr Cotterill

wtf should a manager have to do with deciding who makes the kit? and how many shares has he got in Umbro? (those high-stakes Shrewsbury kit deals can seriously move the market, you know)

Yeah, it does seem a bit of an odd allegation to throw at Cotterill. Aren't kit deals also agreed like a year or so in advance as well?

Yeah find it hard to believe a manager gives that much of a shit about the kit and find it even harder to believe that the club would spend money on buying out of a contract just because the manager wants a certain manufacturer.

I’m also sure it’s a bit more complex then firing off an email to Umbro and saying “alright lads, knock us up a few kits will ya?”.

The club simply wouldn’t waste the time or money.

Suppose could see him having some input if it was something like him not thinking Errea’s training gear was up to standard maybe. That’s not to say it isn’t as they’ve usually done alright by us.

Believe me it's true, apparently our Chairman and CEO went along with it to make him feel "welcome".
TBF my immediate thought was "what's
in it for Cotterill?".I know it sounds crazy, hence why we played in blue and yellow, not amber, last season.
When the other Salop supporter on here reads this he will confirm the story as it was all over our local press.

As can be seen in the link Si Robin has posted above, I can confirm it’s bizarrely all true.

Changing from our traditional blue & amber colours to blue & yellow last year was probably the second biggest fuck up our club has done. The main one being when we changed our club badge when we left the Gay Meadow to that monstrosity clip art lion. Thank God we’ve got our three Loggerheads and our club motto back on it ‘Floreat Salopia’ (May Shropshire Flourish).

Our chairman has always been far too kind to the managers he appoints over the years. Very much if you want it I’ll make sure you get it attitude. Pros and cons to it.

I like the kit but the sponsor looks crap.

having Googled it it's not even the REAL Branston, but some local potato company, so you can't even make the hilarious "looks like Lincoln have got themselves in a pickle" gag without some Imps fan correcting you and saying, "nope, it's not *that* Branston actually".

Imps fans have been correcting Imps fans who think it's *that* Branston! Didn't realise there was so much money in potato's, mind - they turned over £190m last year!

Would have been better if they could have changed the green bit on the sponsor to the same red. I like the short overall, though. We've had another good year with kits IMO.

Barnsley seem to have put a hideously huge sponsor in their shirt this season. Not only does it look awful but it’s also a crypto sponsor.

Quite a few fans pushing back on it on social media only to seemingly be harangued by the Twitter bot army that seems to come along with every crypto currency.

Also the clubs Twitter feed being flooded with people from “the community” talking about financial freedom and early retirement of the basis of this quite dubious sponsor. Dangerous stuff given the current climate and many people struggling.

For a poor looking sponsor on the shirt, can't go much further than the big 'BG' on ours, it really needs Bangkok Glass underneath:

There are a few pictures that show it clearly in the article.

Here's our beaut of a third kit, "blackout" which Ed Sheeran had a hand in designing. I'm currently 800th in the waiting queue to even access our store so it's clearly gone down well.
