Here's our beaut of a third kit, "blackout" which Ed Sheeran had a hand in designing. I'm currently 800th in the waiting queue to even access our store so it's clearly gone down well.

Bar the pattern on the sleeve it’s virtually identical to the kit Robbie Williams helped design for us a couple of seasons back!

Our third kit released tonight (coinciding with a fans forum, which I'm assuming still went ahead). Quite smart IMO, that's three good kits again this year.

The kit's not bad, at least it's distinctive.

Drives me up the wall when public institutions do shirt sponsorships though - and yeah, we had the local university sponsor our shirts too and it bugged the shit out of me then too, it's nothing against Lincoln.

Unless it's some sort of "in kind" deal where the uni gets to use something like the club's training facilities in exchange for stumping up a bit of cash, I don't get it. Everyone local to the place will know about the uni anyway, and those outside the area aren't really going to pay any attention.

I think Bury had the local tram company sponsor them once. :eye:

Yeah, I know there's bigger things to worry about, but still...

We have the local Uni as sponsors too.

The Eisner family were very keen to forge ties with the local community. The Yanks are big on things like that i think. Commercially we were told that we could have partnered with a company which would have been much more lucrative but this felt like the right fit.

The tie-in has seen media students work on our match day stuff and big screen, and there's also close links on the sports science side too.

I think the community team use it as a way of encouraging education in a city which hasn't always excelled in that area especially the inner city estates.

If it benefits the community, i'd much rather it be the uni than a betting company, despite the loss of potential income. Appreciate that from your point of view there's little evil in a bedding company as a sponsor though!

Fair enough if there is a genuine benefit to the community and there are tie-ins as you say.

As far as our sponsor goes, yeah, could be worse, although wearing a shirt proclaiming oneself to be a “Bed Specialist” could be seen as somewhat boastful.

The “Dreams” logo used to be even cringier…insert your own joke about supporting a team that’s best for inducing a great night’s sleep.

I think with it being the third kit and will rarely be worn, I'm not sure there's any finance involved with it. They used to sponsor an away kit, which they paid for but that was some years ago.

Since 2016, we've tied into the Uni a lot because of their Sports Science and Medical facilities and a fair few of students are used in and around the Club as and when.

Strictly speaking, universities are not public institutions. The likes of Lincoln and Portsmouth have been majority funded by students themselves (primarily through student loans) for years and years.
