haven't really got a problem with what he's said there. obviously it's easy to say you "prefer to play" when you've always had a fuck load of money to add to an already world class squad your whole managerial career but he hasn't really been disrespectful imo. the people i feel sound like idiots are the likes of neville and carragher calling it embarrassing. know what's embarrassing? conceding 4 or more goals to them like the many naive teams who've tried to match them and attack them from the off. those sides (the far superior spurs being one of them) were never in the game, we were. the only team to take a point from them were a defensive everton, they had the luxury of playing vs 10 men for 45 mins, and the pundits want us to try and match them? particularly amusing coming from someone like neville who totally didn't embarrass himself and his club when his valencia side tried to match barca and got shit on 7-0.

they have a squad worth over a billion quid and are the form team in the world. we have a championship standard squad that hasn't seen investment in a decade. yet, despite not having our best players on the pitch, we were in the game until the final whistle and could well have come away with a point with a bit of luck. haven't see a single newcastle fan who was embarrassed by that performance or hasn't understood why we set up to defend and remain in the game before having a go ourselves. i think the sky lot are just upset we didn't give them their super interesting 6-0 spanking they obviously expected when they picked that game for tv.
