Same old Mansfield, falling over at every opportunity. Was embarrassing.
Funnily enough that’s exactly what your players did against us last season for the whole 90 mins.

It’s widely regarded that Newport are one of if not the most physical side in the division and fair play they do it very well, the fans play a good part in it too - but despite one of the worst 45 minutes for a while we still managed to come away with something.

Just a shame nobody from Newport that isn’t a nonce has registered up to this forum to have a decent debate, innit?

That’s never a red card!

Why are refs scared once they cross the border?!

Not one to call a team a disgrace etc much as you can often just be frustrated at a game. But will make an exception for Newport who were vile. Summed up by booing and chanting at Danny Rose going down with a head injury (that resulted in him needing to be bandaged up). Delighted with a point with 10 men against their 12, even more delighted we don't have to play away at Newport again haha.

it looked like a red to me, here was no need to do that unless he planned to hurt the guy

What he did was weird, but he didn’t actually hurt him - that all was clearly acting and I reckon the ref/Lino sent him off because they thought he stamped him, which he obviously didn’t.

I’m not denying Mellis was stupid for what he did, and he gave the referee a decision to make but the Newport players reaction clearly was the factor.

I’m pleased that Mansfield were able to counter Newport’s “direct” style of play. It appears again we got a ref who was sucked into their more brutish style of football, as were the incorrect decisions in the playoffs.

In fairness rugby is the main sport in South Wales, and if watching some cloggers like Newport was the alternative it’s totally understandable why you’d choose rugby.

As it was were able to escape the back and beyond with a draw

I hear what youre saying, but he gave the other player the opportunity to get him red carded.

The opinion is split on Stagsnet thus far but for me it was a yellow card for being silly, both sides today put in many challenges more worthy of a red than that today.

Edit - referee spurred on by the crowd spoke to the Lino who said it was a stamp, so incorrect decision for me. (Info from stagsnet report)

As usual, you comment when you weren’t at the match. ‘Uneducated thugs’ etc to describe people from Newport. Just about sums you up.

Mansfield have five players booked and one sent off, and you call us ‘cloggers’.

As for the predominant sport in South Wales, on what basis do you form your opinion? We share RP with two rugby teams whose combined average attendances are below ours. Similarly, Cardiff and Swansea are football cities.

It’s akin to saying that Mansfield’s attendances are minuscule compared to Forest, Notts Co and Chesterfield. Oh, hang on a minute!

Fair enough - I reckon I have a pretty strong argument here though, especially considering he was sent off for a stamp that did not happen, the club should appeal for me although it’s obviously difficult to get anything at all overturned but the fact the referee will have it down as a stamp in the report will be beneficial.d

I think there’s some really unfair comments both ways, Newport are not cloggers, but they are the most physical side in this division - that’s a compliment considering you bullied us off the park in the first half.

I just find it strange how Newport fans seem to be a bit oblivious to how physical they really are, embrace it I say.

You’re a deluded one, I’ll give you that.

You’re obviously physical and thrive of that, pretty obvious given your tactics

1FF refereeing court now in sitting. Will it be filed as violent conduct, because even if his reasoning is wrong his actual card and category of offence was right. I don't know about procedure but violent conduct would cover both offences, unless the referee interpreted it as one of those dangerous foul play/excessive force fouls, which I'd be surprised if he did. I think I am making sense, although I am a little confused, I'd like to speak to a solicitor

Similar to when someone pushes another players, it’s silly but it’s a yellow.

You will next season after you bottle promotion again.

In fairness flitcroft ducked that up, and in reality we paid a massive price - being subjected to 2 out 3 trips to Newport really does rub salt into the wound
