Can say i have no affiliation or preference apart from a good away day on the piss in Notts when we go to Mansfield .

But cheats and disgrace to the game jeez.

Now if i was reading Newport v Stevenage thread i'd of believed it more.:fish:

Obviously i wasn't there but that wasn't the game i watched.

Newport fans have always been odd.

Then calling us physical and cheats after the league fixture is beyond comprehension.

I suspect those claiming that are a tad simple

Mansfield looked the far superior side last night (I'm can't remember the last time there looked such a gap between two PO sides) but that said, Newport still had two or three good chances.

The penalty is a difficult one for me. I've not seen anything outside the game itself, so one or two replays, but it's one of those where Logan probably doesn't touch the ball enough for the ref to see it.

Newport can't be as bad as that in the second leg, they looked well short IMO, so Mansfield will perhaps bit a little wary although they'll fancy themselves to finish the job at home.

I wouldn’t say we were far superior- Newport pressed us for 60 mins and looked on top for most of the second half.

Absolutely, you’ve nailed it there luv.

Don’t get sensitive you baby. The threads on your forum are pure delusional. You’ll probably get through on Sunday - I bet all the whining will stop then.

Seemed a keen, even, fairly contested game to me.

So if the final is Mansfield v FGR then, according to Newport andTranny fans, we should be in for a treat of diving, cheating and thugishness.

Fred West v Harold Shipman.

Fred west v Harold shipman sounds like a new top trumps idea.

Michael Salisbury currently the referee allocated to the return leg. Not seen enough of him to know how he’ll do.

I’d go with red card and penalty for the two key decisions last night.
He’s shit.

Have only seen highlights of this game, so hard to assess the merits of the Newport fans claims. However when Rovers played at Mansfield the hosts seemed to make the most of minimal contact, though Grant who was the biggest culprit didn’t feature in this game.

What is this? Newport will be not just be the underdogs but considerable underdogs in the second leg at Field MFI

There isn’t any merits to it at all.

They’re a physical group of donkies and got all upset when they got a bit of their own medicine and threw the dolly out the pram

Probably didn't quite word that correctly. I meant in possession, really. Mansfield just looked a team of good players when they had the ball. Much quicker and looked more comfortable with it (as you'd expect, mind).

You really are a strange one. By your own admission, you were in Amsterdam when we visited you in August, didn’t come to Newport for the League game and were in Edinburgh on Thursday. So, I’m guessing you haven’t actually seen us play this season.
Mansfield were very impressive on opening day, poor at Newport in the League and good in the first half in particular on Thursday. However, it’s fair to say that in the two games at Newport, Mansfield players were constantly in the ref’s ear and going down at the slightest contact. Some of the posts on our forum were a bit over the top and on another day we would have been down to 10 men. We are no angels by any standards but we are certainly not ‘donkies’.
On, I’m guessing probably a third of your budget, we have reached the play-offs and made the Fifth Round of the FA Cup, beating Leicester and Middlesbrough before earning praises from Pep after we performed so well against Man City (no bookings for us in that game either).
I would expect you to go through on Sunday as I genuinely think that you have that bit more quality. However, we have already sold nearly 800 tickets for the game and whatever happens it’s been a great season for us.

That’s a fair enough post, other than they went way more than just ‘over the top’ on the forum, imagine a thread called ‘cheating mansfield’ after a game where they got away with a banker red card and received a penalty?

I have not heard a complaint for the entire season about Mansfield going down easily or anything to that effect, so it makes you wonder where the problem really is.

Was about to say.

I saw extended highlights of the game earlier on the season where Danny rose was basically assaulted, walkers legs could have been broken and we were duffed up so to speak.

Given what happened in that game it’s of no surprise that the players and the manager were more wise to the “tactics” we were going to receive and seemed to handle it pretty well. Unfortunately the ref let us down not giving the most blatant of reds then giving a penalty when the keeper got the ball first.

I was bemused by the amount of times handball was claimed by the crowd as well, was most odd.

On the basis of the two games at Newport, I’m guessing that Flitcroft’s team talk was along the lines of ‘Newport are a physical side, get in the ref’s ear and go down squealing at any contact to try and get them cards.’
I don’t include the O’Brien incident in that at all. It was a red card.
I honestly can’t comment on other games, but as I said my impression is that you are a decent side, but clearly come to Newport (stories of the pitch, crowd etc) with a game plan.

Again nonsense. The Danny Rose incident was a complete accident, a point fully acknowledged by Flitcroft after the game to the press. His injury was horrible, but it was not a foul.
As for being ‘duffed up’, you clearly weren’t at the game so best not to comment on two minute highlights.

Might as well, every one else does it as well.

Lol.

Extended highlights ya div, Martin shaw puts them out for those that can’t make it to those sort of games.

It’s hardly like it’s just mansfield fans that have claimed your physicality which is well known in the league, whereas Mansfield this season haven’t been called either physical or dirty. That speaks volumes I’m afraid.

You’re also saying that Newport players have never been in the refs ear? Never gone down easily? Right...

I look forward to seeing the angelic Newport tomorrow

Resort to the insults, well done pal. As I say, watch a full game and form an opinion. Read all of what I’ve said again. You spent most of last week moaning about how your side had no chance and the season was over.
Having seen all the Mansfield/County games, when you play football you clearly have more quality than us - as would be expected with your far superior budget. Very impressive in the first game of the season and particularly the first 35 minutes on Thursday.
What wound many of our fans up in the two games at RP was the falling down at minimal contact and constant appealing to the referee. I’m not one-eyed, I’m sure we do it too - but that’s what caused the reaction on the forum.
Now, show some respect pal. I’ve never referred to your team as ‘donkies’, called you a ‘div’ or thrown the insults and have acknowledged Mansfield are a decent side.
Two seasons ago, we were virtually gone. With a very low budget, we have completely turned things round on the pitch, had two incredible Cup runs and reached the play offs. If I’m honest, I expect our season to end on Sunday, but whatever happens am proud of my team and it’s efforts.

If you are inclined to re-read the Mansfield v Tranmere thread, there are a few in there!

I think that had more to do with tranmere thinking it was a rugby match

Had they tried and played the football they’ve shown they can play of late they’d have probably have failed better!

After that thread, you and one or two other Tranmere fans really developed a disdain for Mansfield. It’s a shame.

is that when there was a outbreak of compulsive tranmere disorder in mansfield ? bottlers swa swa

Not really, we’d strolled to one of the easiest wins of the season without breaking sweat, I became quite fond of you after that.

Another petty yet entertaining thread involving the usual suspect . Didn’t see the first leg as I forgot it was on , damn Thursday night football ;) so can’t comment on that game . However I do know that Danny Rose and Jorge Grant do not require any extra incentive to hit the deck .

I’m going to miss this television spectacle as I’m already fully booked for fun but hope the best team gets to Wembley

I have nothing against Mansfield and said on another thread that they were the best L2 side have seen live this season [though missed Lincoln and Bury]
Nobody died in the Mansfield v Rovers game, there weren't even any season-ending injuries. However, Mansfield posters on here thought Rovers were the dirtiest team to grace whatever Field Mill is called these days, whereas Rovers fans felt that your players, Grant in particular, went down far too easily and were aided by a homer of a referee. County1 felt that Mansfield were constantly in the referee's ear and went down at any contact in this play-off game, which sounded familiar.
