Where were all these Hereford fans when the club died? Could barely even get 1000 at home.

Hereford 0-0 Hyde
Attendance 1378

Now all of a sudden they take 1000 away as soon as they start dicking on pub teams?

Feel good factor, they're winning every week, every game is local and cheap to get in.

We did the same after we reformed, taking four figure followings regularly and we hardly took less than 400 anywhere for a few years, even to places like Whitby, Durham and Bishops Stortford.

It wont last forever obviously but fun whilst it does, good on them.

Surely most clubs have a hard core of support and then supporters who tend to drift away when things aren't going so well. We've had an average home attendance of 4500 this season, over 1000 more than the last few seasons. I expect Hereford Utd fans were fed up of poor management on and off the field. Relegation generally knock a bit off the attendance.

I suppose if you've only ever had poor attendances you might not have noticed that. :fish:

270 Wealdstone at Truro. 600 mile round trip.
That's a very solid effort. Was it bank holiday weekenders as I see only a fluke would've seen you down going into the last day? Think it was the last game at their ground too

Can't find any away figures for Gateshead at Chester, FGR at Dover or Borehamwood at Welling.
Checked twitter of all 6 clubs but no luck.

Halifax v Macc?
Braintree v Alty?

Most of us stayed over for the weekend, about 10-20 hardy souls were on the players coach which left London at 7am.

We were safe, but with it being the bank holiday weekend, a first time visit and an I was there factor saw the numbers as high as they were.

To be fair, Hereford got an attendance of 662 on 26th March 2013 at home to Dartford, towards the end of the season where they finished 6th in the Conference.

They were struggling to get much over 1200 home fans for several seasons prior to their liquidation - whilst there will be a feel good factor, it does make you wonder where these thousands of extra fans were in there last couple of seasons as Hereford United.

Going to be fun at Braintree on Sunday, especially if the game is still all to play for. They are giving us only 600 tickets and insist that there will be no more!!

Also, and this isn't confirmed, they are bringing the tickets with them on Thursday, rather than letting us print them ourselves as we have done before and we have decided to sell them to season ticket holders on a 1 for 1 basis, first come first served from 9pm Thursday evening!!

I reckon quite a lot of fans will leave the game at half-time to start queuing!

No they weren't. In their last two seasons they averaged over 1700 and before that didn't average below 2000 since 2002. You would expect decent sized clubs like Hereford to take big followings to local games when they are playing well, for them at the moment its most weeks.

gates did dive after our relegation back to the conf largely because under martin foyle the football was dire,it was longball at its very worst and 15/20 quid to watch that was driving fans away,(me included im afraid to say),along with the chairmans complete inability to run the club along anything like a sustainable way spelled trouble with a big T,this was then compounded by him selling the club to agombar for 2pounds while refusing to negotiate with the supporters trust, our half season in the southern prem was a shambles and sham.

Last go at filling any gaps please.
I haven't bothered listing any that I have estimates for but I'm pretty sure we'll never get a better figure for. Some of the list below may also fall into that category but I'm asking just in case. Some, I'm pretty sure will be available somewhere, programmes for example, but I haven't found them yet.
I'll post a table in the next couple of days (unless anyone beats me to it), but I'm hopeful of getting a few gaps filled in first.
Thanks in advance for any help

Depends how you look at an average attendance of 1700 though. Macc averaged around 1700 last year and 1600 this year, but we regularly struggle to get more than 1200/1300 home fans and are boosted by a few games of interest each year (Boxing Day, Bank Holidays, local derbies, large away followings etc) where we get a considerably larger attendance and we end up with an average of 1600/1700. I expect Hereford were experiencing something similar, particularly considering they had an attendance of 662!

There were around 80 Macc fans at Boreham Wood but there should be an official figure for both Boreham Wood and Halifax since they were both segregated.

Grimsby at Dover in our local paper they estimate 400, but someone on here think it was Les estimated 350, so 375 seems a good shout.

Those two seasons are out of the ordinary for Hereford for obvious reasons, traditionally they have had crowds of between 2-3000. That 662 doesn't really mean anything without context, we had 400 gates in the last season of Chester City but of course there was an official boycott.

Football fans will watch winning football regardless of the level, especially when its local and cheap as it is for Hereford at the moment.

That 662, was a freezing cold night in march, when England were playing. I went, during that season, and the following season, but can understand why people stayed away during those seasons with the prices it was, the football being played and Keyte. Obviously it is cheaper this season, and we are winning but we are playing some incredible football, regardless of the level.

Guiseley and Welling were unsegregated so there won't be an official figure unfortunately. Dover was segregated but there was no official figure announced. I have double checked our programme in case we stated one but there is no away figure shown so I think the estimate is the best you will get unfortunately.
