75 North Ferriby fans turned up tonight for their play-off semi final at Boston in an attendance of 2,593. Think there'll be a tad more make the reverse trip on Sunday!!

we've hovered around 2,000 for a few years when in the conference (averages sometimes being more due to the odd 'big' game) and usually jumps up nearer 2,500 in the league but with Hereford, like many clubs, it matters how we are playing. We have a very decent sized floating fan base and when things are going well and we play attractive football the crowds are there. I think averaging 2,900 in the 9th tier isn't something anyone can really mock

Look at all the Boston fans coming out of the woodwork!

How many do you reckon you'll take there then?

46.

For some reason I have Torquay at;
Chester est 85
Barrow est 30
Woking est 150
I think that these came from home fans estimates - I think that I'll split the difference.

Thanks for your help.
Welling I agree with.

Thanks a lot to anyone who has posted figures over the last couple of days, and of course, over the season. Much appreciated. If any more gaps get filled I'll amend my table accordingly.
Below is what I have - I know that some people will disagree with some of the figures, but that can't be helped given the number of estimates from unsegregated games, or segregated games where a club refuse to publish. If anyone disagrees violently with anything, let me know what and why, and I'll recheck.
Thanks again.

This is a major problem.

You also had less than Forest Green. That is embarrassing!

Ours being above 200 is pretty impressive given we had nothing to play for since Christmas. Chester's is very good too since they havent had much to shout about either this season!

82 isn't even double their average away attendance for the biggest game in their history...pathetic.

To give Chester their due they do travel well, given their low home crowds. They do have some big local games that bump up their average as well.

If the playoff final ends up being FGR vs Braintree they could hold it at the rec and it still wouldnt sell out

To be fair the home attendance was shit as well, well under 6k - over a thousand down on last seasons play off semi (2nd leg). 7pm ko is BT sticking up two figures to the fans.

Throwing the game at Tranmere looks particularly stupid as well. We've never won a play off semi with the home leg first and never failed to win with the home leg second. We could have sat back at Braintree and let them try and break us down.

To be fair to BT, the Conference could have played the games next week when there is no European football on, then the games could be at a more sensible time. They've known about the Euro dates for long enough. It would also bridge the gap between the semis and final a bit better.

That would have been sensible. Have the first game this weekend and the second midweek next week. Teams with the home leg second would have bigger travelling support on a Sat or Sunday, which should be part of the reward for finishing higher in the table.

Really, 82 fans when the usual is 44 isnt bad. They only knew for sure where they would be playing on Saturday evening, and its highly likely they were expecting a home game and not for Grimsby to stuff up again on the final day, its a very long way to Grimsby and back quite aside from work/ family etc. I simply dont get why every former league club whos had years of free advertising on final score newspaper pools coupons etc etc expects that non league teams can suddenly muster 10,000 fans from thin air. It takes time, generations even, one day the mighty FGR will take busloads everywhere, mark my words :fl:

Im pretty sure BT would have been forced into a 7pm kickoff as well due to the UEFA rules about clashes with European games. If I remember rightly there were a couple of FA Cup replays that clashed with CL games recently that also had to kick off at 7pm

What a load of rubbish. Some of the ex-league teams haven't been in it for years and years. What they are though, is based in densly populated urban areas, one of the major reasons why they were elected into the Football League in the first place, and is why Mickey Mouse outfits like yours, where there are more sheep than people, will NEVER ever belong in the greatest league in the world. :bdick:

Braintree fc were founded in 1898. If they haven't gotten around to sorting out a fanbase yet what makes you think they are going to do it in the next few years?

Small club or not taking less than 100 to a play off game that could lead to promotion into the league is pretty poor and indicative of the fact that Braintree are probably not credible candidates for promotion, however well they have done on the pitch. They aren't trying to get promoted into the Ismthmian third division south.

Bring back election :p

B2TF By your reasoning really noone but London teams belong in the premier league as they are most urban, other cities all into the Championship, perhaps a few Birmingham or Manchester ones maybe in the PL, larger conurbations like Gateshead Redcar/Cleveland Dudley Salford in League 1 then Cathedral cities like Winchester Ely Gloucester and Durham I guess making up Division 2. Great stuff!

EnglishRed, by your reasoning Manu only ever the winner of the PL, and then Arsenal then Next seaon West Ham etc down through the leagues, Leicester never a chance of winning anything as they have less support. Guys can you not see that developing clubs encourages football wherever. Leaving it stuck in stone as you wish merely discourages the chance of glory which is what most clubs aspire to.

Success breeds success, and if they flourish the fans will come. Our fanbase is far better than it was from a few hundred at the old ground if that to around 1800 regularly this season, Cheltenhams have gone from a few hundred to thousands over 20 years, why should that not happen to Braintree if they continue to prosper?
