Yeah, 1400 home fans seems like alot for SouthportProbably more given some in home end.
Probably more given some in home end.
Attendance at Chester: 1,964 (357 Mariners).
Was thinking 357 was a bit disappointing, but then I looked at the Championship followings - more than Hull and Bristol City and twice as many as Franchise to Burnley...Made a fair bit of noise early on as well, absolute scenes after the equaliser. Pathetic home support.

Tranmere will have matched Forest's feeble effort to Birmingham...
Probably more given some in home end.
Must be pretty tight between us and Tranmere for highest average after last night's followings. How many do you guys reckon will make the inconvenience of a Friday night trip across the country in two days time?

Don't reckon we'll take many, if I'm honest. Friday night, not very local, on TV, the team is not exactly entertaining the fans at the moment, mediocre run of results... all the factors are against us. Sounds like a list of excuses! I reckon 400 or so.
For what it's worth, I think we're going to get battered too...

Think ours might just fall short of 800, sure cardsfan will have a more accurate number.Must be pretty tight between us and Tranmere for highest average after last night's followings. How many do you guys reckon will make the inconvenience of a Friday night trip across the country in two days time?
Whats the 225 figure mate? Think welling was 302Current Averages:
Grimsby - 1068 (1734, 1689, 825, 734, 357)
Tranmere - 821 (1512, 389, 453, 1450, 225)
I wasn't sure whether to put 225 or 302, Dickie Davies eyes estimated 225 so not sure where they got the figure from.Whats the 225 figure mate? Think welling was 302
I got the 302 from our programme, mate. Not that it'll take our average above Grimsby's our anything...I wasn't sure whether to put 225 or 302, Dickie Davies eyes estimated 225 so not sure where they got the figure from.
Yeah I know, hence the "they".I got the 302 from our programme, mate. Not that it'll take our average above Grimsby's our anything...
We were told that we'd sold all of our ticket allocation 1,500. Some cash entry was permitted on the night. While there's no way of calculating the number of Rovers fans going into the home end, there should still be more than 1,450. Even if Southport were calculating on numbers of attenders rather than tickets sold, I'd reckon more than the official figure.
Had the Grimsby game been at normal time, we'd have taken around 400 and if it had been an early ko like the Welling game doubt the numbers would drop vastly. Friday night and we're not playing well, so doubt more than about 220 diehards will be there to see a likely hammering.
I can understand that, for comparitive purposes there isn't another way. My point was that on this occasion, if the information Tranmere put out on tickets available/purchased was correct, there must be some doubt on that official figure. But we always have to go on the official number - only way the thread works. Over the years I've been the home areas at quite a few games when we've sold out (as a Lincs exile I never get my act together to get tickets via GTFC) especially Scunny and Lincoln. Despite all the talk of beforehand of lots of fans going in home areas I doubt it is has ever been more than 100 or so.
Hence the reason why the official 302 figure should be used for the Welling game. There were far more at Southport than the official figures suggest, the ground looked at least 70% full. And I'm normally someone who underestimates crowds...I can understand that, for comparitive purposes there isn't another way. My point was that on this occasion, if the information Tranmere put out on tickets available/purchased was correct, there must be some doubt on that official figure.
