I just assumed there were financial fair play rules down here, but apparently not.
FFP is most needed in non leagues. FA are keen to step in and save the league clubs like Pompey, Leeds who get into trouble, yet do nothing to save the like of Telford, Nuneaton, Hereford, Darlo, Chester, Halifax and others

I dont think there is in non league. There would not be the likes of margate, ebblesfleet going on way they do if financial fair play rules existed.
Thats another bankrolled team that i didn't know about and to be fair i havn't even heard of them - Ebblesfleet.
What league are they playing in?

Ferriby have average crowds of 300 and an entire population of about 3,500, so it's not a surprise, although you normally expect at least a car full. Lowest I've seen at Boston was Vauxhall Motors' four or Leigh RMI's two I think
Heard vauxhall motors had a poor support with away fans outnumbering home fans on a few occasions. As for leigh, they never reformed so obviously not much intrest in them.either

Histon once didn't bring anyone to a game at ours. Zero. Not one person could be bothered going to watch them.

I actually read that article the other day. Think its a record in the conference where no fans turned up at all
I would guess that zero would definately be the record low, as i very much doubt that any team has taken less than that although i could be wrong........

Why is this so frequently brought up as a factor? Can Chester fans not get jobs in London or Leeds? Or do Grimsby fans have a disproportionate propensity for abandoning their home town?

Surely the amount of exiles a club has is roughly proportionate to the amount of fans a club has in total, so it's not really an issue worthy of note.

Yeah fair point, didn't think that through properly!

The only way you could beat it is if a couple.of fans set out but midway through the journey decided that they'd rather support the home team and defected. Would that count as a minus as you'd actually lost fans?

VM resigned from the Conference North as they couldn't justify the costs on average gates of 150-200. Admittedly, they'd now have the small boost of FCUM/Stockport but still wouldn't boost the average much

The Wednesday
Walkley_Owl has kindly drawn up this table of away averages with distance travelled factored in for a more 'true' average as i was curious to know if we would still be 1st with this factored in.
I actually thought our own average would go down but it actually goes up a little and as expected teams with more distance to travel like Torquay Dover Gateshead Barrow etc are all much improved.
This was based on DJS last set of averages posted so ours will be lower now with Dover and Woking played since and Tranmere's will be higher as they took a great number all the way to Eastleigh but it still gives a fairly good idea.

No worries, the last figures I found were late March so will be a bit out.

Considering our mileage and very poor league position, that is a bloody good turn-out from us!

About 400 Leamington last night at Redditch in a crowd of 1,303 in the Southern Prem Playoff Semis. Leamington did to Redditch what Chorley did to us lat year- win on pens after forcing extra time with the last kick of the game

It'll be even higher as that figure doesn't include the 500+ at Bromley - and it seems like there'll be a few hundred at Guiseley too.
