I liked this post for you because likes seem to matter a lot to you. Hope that helps.
Thank you, that means a lot my friend, but be careful as your boyfriend/lover friend Master D may get a bit jealous of you liking a post of mine.

20-25 Wingate in a crowd of 364 at Grosvenor Vale yesterday. They had their usual 'This is all we take away' flag with them too.

82 Worcester City fans at Bootham Crescent in a crowd of 1033. I thought that was a decent away effort. I know it's the trophy but less than 1,000 home fans is a bit of a worry. I've been at Tadcaster Albion when they had more in than that.

That isn't that bad home support for the first round of the trophy especially given your league position, we only got not much over a thousand in it even when at the top end of the league for the early rounds.

Random question, but.. Why do York City only get around 2,500-3,000 home fans in general even when in the FL?

York is a big place, no other dominant sporting club in the immediate area? Other teams from places the side of York such as Bolton, Barnsley etc can pull 10-11 thousand. It's a place the size of Wolverhampton, Reading or Middlesbrough, yet they get gates akin to Bury and Mansfield. Any answers?

Does the affluence of the city have a negative effect for the football club?

yes, I would say so, there are a lot of southern and people generally not from York or interested in football, the difference in my opinion to those places is that York City is very much NOT at the heart of the community, not a priority for the council (as you can see from the stadium, or lack of) more interest in students and tourists, and lack of engagement fro the club itself, to be fair if we do well in the football league we get around or just below 4000 but it doesn't help that were pretty cr*p anyway. A lot of people who I know who are from York tend to support Leeds or Newcastle why? You could go on for ever but they all say the same thing, well York are rubbish and when parents have that attitude, children have that attitude and when they get that attitude they pass it on to friends and suddenly you find a large amount of people have the same view, and when you are in a city of so many opportunities the football club quickly fades into the background of the city and of course out of the priorities of the people who run the city. So really in my opinion it all comes from the popularity and things to do in York which you can hardly compare to somewhere like Barnsley.

175-200 Stones supporters in Finchley this evening. By far and away their largest crowd of the season.

Worthy mention to around 150 Witton fans who turned up at the Deva tonight, Loud throughout, pretty much just cheered every mistake, throw, corner, foul...anything really.

We get more with two of the biggest clubs in England on our doorstep and following our two worst ever seasons, with a support that comes from extremely diverse backgrounds so that doesn't hold up.

Sadly I know a number of Liverpool fans from York... one of whom was recently taking the piss out of me supporting Tranmere. He even gave me a brief rendition of You'll Never Walk Alone... complete with North Yorkshire accent :(

I personally only know a couple of Leeds fans up here, albeit they're both originally from Bradford... I've only lived here three years mind. And I do hate Kopites, the glory hunting scum :)

Couldn`t agree more. They constantly go on about all Manchester United fans live outside Manchester and then brag about how many fans they have all around the Country and about how many supporters clubs they have in places like South Wales and Bristol. One of the most famous of their fans is that mouthy pillock "Badgeman" (who turned up at Prenton Park for a FA Cup years ago, hurled torrents of abuse at the Rovers fans in the next stand for 90 minutes and then hid behind a wall of coppers after the game) who comes from that famous suburb of Liverpool known as Wakefield. All the ones I know who live locally don`t go the game (don`t leave the armchair or the pub on match days to be honest) yet claim to know more about football than Tranmere Fans who follow the team everywhere and that we should "all follow a proper team". Kopites are Gobshites !!! Horrible arrogant cretins to a man all of them.

Sounds just like Chester. Everyone here is a Liverpool, Everton or United fan and they're all as bad as each other.

Or Halifax, all Leeds or Reds of one kind or the other. It's the air of superiority they display when you tell them you support your home town team, rather than the one they pretend to support, which they somehow manage to achieve without ever having seen them play in the flesh, or paid a penny into their coffers. I just call them cuntz. Which they are.:ds:

Bit low from Tranmere for a 1st v 2nd clash at the end of December, isn't it?
How many should we have brought then?

It felt like there were more SWA than that attending but hard to gauge. A decent atmosphere though.

I was expecting over 1,000? Not a dig, just a little surprised.
