Council would take it back I assume.

A ground share with Sileby would be great as I live a 5 minute walk away.

The big question though is who actually owns it? Is it Cardoza? NTFC? Some random holding company? Council only have the ability to take it "back" if they entity that owns it goes under and owes them money. Not impossible that the club and it's asset(s) were separated.

I'd be very surprised if that ground could go above UCL Premier (Step 5), if only from a capacity standpoint. I'm sure you'd get a Hereford/Chester situation if the council had control of Sixfields, and should the worst happen the reformed club would get to play at the old stadium for a low rent.

You know what would be absolutely hilarious if the worst did come to the worst this season?

Our win one - both in this campaign and ever vs Northampton - would be expunged from history.

Hopefully it doesn't come to that, but just a little bit of solace for Cobblers fans ;)

I'd happily lose every game against you forever if it meant we were still alive and kicking!!

Hearing that a takeover is getting closer incidentally with KT and his gang

Fingers crossed you manage to sort something out.

Never nice to see a club go through such turmoil.

Heard Wednesday is the day. Heard it before the weekends game, heard it from a decent source at Saturday's game and it's all slowly building on Twitter.

Latest person to say is our ex local paper journo who says the Claret world will be a very different place on Wednesday tea time.

Superb.

A) If the takeover goes through, no. His big mate is meant to be taking over.

B) I love the bloke. Every endorsement he came with from Oxford has been proven wrong.

One of the big ones was boring/defensive/direct football. Absolutely bollocks, we've played some of the most entertaining football I've seen at Sixfields in the last decade. We go after teams at home, and come flying out of the bollocks, and going forward we really are great to watch.

He's good at spotting players, picking players up no one else wanted (Holmes, Jason Taylor etc) and making them integral parts of our team.

He's also really engineered a massive bond between the fans and players, and always says what people are thinking. He's quickly becoming one of our most popular managers.

In short, I love the bloke and would be devastated for him to leave, but I don't think it'll happen.

Edit: Forgot the main point, his ability to triumph through adversity. When he joined we were stranded massively, but he saved us in a dramatic escape. And now with all the off the field shite he's led us to 1 defeat in 10 league games, and an upset in the cup. Nominated for October manager of the month (which he really should have won) and getting performances like he has with the stuff we are going through is a huge testament for the man.

Never thought a great deal of him when we've played his sides in the past, sounds as though he's really upped his game with you lot.

I'd be a disgusted with us if we are even considering approaching him though. That'd be bang out of order.

Yeah I love him. And fair play for that stance on it, would probably wait to see if our takeover does indeed go through as expected, if we go bust you could have him for nothing (highly unlikely though).

Even then, I don't like the idea that we're waiting at your bedside for the plug to pulled!

We generally conduct ourselves very well in these things, so I'd be surprised. Fingers crossed for you guys.

Northampton council are idiots for giving these crooks £10 mil in the first place.

You can guarantee that none of these scumbags followed competitive tendering procedures. Instead they use the money to buy Mercedez cars and pay themselves 300k a year for fiddling books with their mates. Utter scum.

He's been found out as a Peterborough fan! (Our rivals)

And it was quite a while ago, and it seems the takeover has only recently been finalised

To be honest, that does sound a little bit like our team after about two or three years of his reign. We had Damien Batt and Liam Davis as full backs, and they spent most of each home game in the opposition half chucking in cross-after-cross. Peter Leven in midfield, and a Craddock-Constable partnership that we were waiting to hit 40 goals. It all soured and went downhill in the two or three years after that.

A lot of what you're saying actually tallies perfectly with his time at Oxford - he picked us up after we'd suffered some of the worst defeats in our history, and our worst league position for however many decades. What really frustrated us (in the end) was his ability to see out a season, and the sense that he couldn't really get us to kick on from being a midtable League Two side (to be fair, you can't really prove that wrong, it's in the league positions he achieved). When things went right, Wilder was the man, when they went wrong, he went defensive.

I have no vitriol at all for the man. Find me a single Oxford fan who spoke out against him after two and a half years though, and I would probably not have bothered posting this.

P.S. oh dear, came in this thread to wish you luck, got distracted by Chris Wilder!

We know how it feels to be on the brink. Hope it all works out.

Council red tape holding an announcement up. Still supremely confident it'll go through from what I've heard.

to be fair government may end up coming into this one longer term.

all council money has to go through yearly audits and reported back through to Government so it'll be interesting when they find out where £10 million has gone.

but I think that's usually march time so Northampton club and Council probs still have that time to find a way to show its being paid back.

I have a question and it comes from the BBC sport report' These are two quotes:

1. Northampton Borough Council has lodged a petition asking for Northampton Town to be put in administration

2. The Football League has confirmed the club would not face a points deduction by the council lodging the petition. Only if the club goes into administration will it incur a penalty.

I really dont get it.

A petition for administration basically means that the council have filed a notice to take us into admin. That is done to buy us some time in the negotiations. The petition for administration supersedes the winding up petition, which is heard Monday. It was announced yesterday because that was the last possible day it could be filed before Monday's court hearing.

Basically it's buying us time and a plan b if in the unlikely event the takeover doesn't happen. We aren't actually going into administration as all parties expect the deal to be concluded before that is necessary.

I get the impression the council are hoping the judge will adjourn to a later date to give time for petition to be heard. If the judge decides otherwise it could be all over on Monday.
As I see it the council had little choice, if the club was wound up on Monday then they could kiss goodbye to the £10m.

It's gone up to 12 points for going into administration hasn't it?
