Pope and Duffy are good mates. Both their kids go my sons school and they’re always together.

Anderson going off injured is far from ideal. Limited options at centre back now. Could influence going back to Gunning with an improved offer.

Good hard battle this. We may well lose this still and I do think a goal is coming but it's encouraging how we can compete with good opposition like this now.

Blatant dive by Stead to top off a truly astonishing display of refereeing.

85 minutes of atrocious refereeing and top shithouse tactics topped off by a sumptuous dive. Viva La League 2.

Appalling decision. I can only think that the ref 's Misses is County fan. There's no way we deserve to lose this game. (not saying we deserve the 3 points either)

Sounds like weve given a good account of ourselves, but its not our day.

Can’t do much about it, their antics worked in the end, just frustrating.

Under Aspin we're the equal of teams such as Luton and Notts County.

Unlucky today, deserved a point at least. But we move on and I'm sure we'll bounce back at home at the weekend.

Fantastic win, thought Vale were very tough and can see why they’ve been doing so well. Think we deserved it on the game as a whole but the way it came must be a bit of a sickener for Vale.

Our record of scoring vital late goals at home this season is amazing.

Shame we lost it late on but even so if you think back to before the Cov game if you'd have said we'd have gained 6 points from this stretch of games I'd have been more than happy with that.

Encouraging we hung in with one of the top teams in the league again but congrats to Notts on the win.

No congratulations whatsoever should be given to a side that won a game because of a blatant dive and an absolutely shocking little twonk of a referee. If it was the other way around I wouldn't be expecting any County supporters to give us a fist bump and say well done.

It is what it is - your ‘keeper had a moment of, err, gamesmanship that was every bit as bad as Stead’s.

It was a bitty, physical game but that was the fault of both teams as well as the ref imo.

Vale fans thrown out for filming the game certainly won't be one for the purists! Boot going down pretending to be injured after failing to catch a ball by himself was embarrassing for all involved. Aspin had done a great job with vale looked organised and gritty but lacked the killer touch. Notts ground vale down and waited for the inevitable foul.

Huge goal at the first half with Lincoln winning notts were 3 points clear and then with the goal rocketed us to 7 clear.

And we're staying up 50 points!

It didn't cost your team a point though, did it? But it happens in football and I'd be lying if I said if one of our players did it to earn 3 points I'd give much of a lying fuck what the opposition supporters thought.

I'm still happy with how we battled and showed that we're clearly on par with the best teams in the league now. Even if we don't challenge for the play-offs this season it certainly bodes well for the following one. Anyway, all the best for the remainder of the season.

Could’ve easily cost us a couple of points considering we had the ball with no goalkeeper in the net.

Wouldn’t be that surprised if you pushed for the play-offs from here fwiw. You looked similar to us but with possibly slightly less of a spark around the box, being organised and winning second balls gets you a long way at this level.

I thought we looked a bit leggy today, not surprising seeing as we've now played the top 3 in the last 3 games. But obviously you've also played the same amount of games, so I'm not using that as an excuse as to why we got nothing from the game. The amount of games clubs have to play at this time of year is just ridiculous - Though as a fan I'm not complaining when they come thick and fast, Well, maybe a little bit. :bg:

I think we just about did enough to win today well done vale you can see why you are doing well under aspin at the moment and that win set it up nicely for the next 2 league fixtures Lincoln away and exeter at home.

From the Kop of looked like Stead made a clear dive, he was halfway to the floor when the ball came to him.
Talked to a couple of mates after the match who saw it from the Main stand and they thought it was a pen for a clear push. They had same view as the ref.
Thought Vale looked strong, robust and with some pace going forwards. Had a horrible feeling after Forte and then Saunders fluffed clear chances that we'd be caught on a sucker punch.
I say it every week but our need for a competent 1 in 3-4 striker is just screaming out .

Aye, we weren’t even particularly creative today and still fluffed three or four clear chances. That pass by Grant that put Forte through one on one was absolutely sublime, most quality piece of play in the match by a mile.

Overall I’m massively disappointed to lose that, especially in that way after putting so much into the game where the lads in midfield were struggling fitness wise a bit... thought we would rotate it more than we did...

But not overly downbeat tonight, heading into December one point clear of the drop looking at the hideous fixtures we had on paper I would of snapped your hands to be going to FGR next weekend just outside the drop... we are now 11 points clear and look certain to be safe comfortably baring a huge downturn.

Overall indeed when Aspin took over the remit the fans gave him was to stay in touch of the safety line until we could bring in new players in Jan so it’s been a miraculous turnaround with the same players that got five points in the first 13 games.

Thought a draw would of been fully deserved, second half we looked much better once Barnett came on and it opened up the game and we had a few chances. Duffy and Pope will be chuckling over a pint tonight, they had a right battle.

Notts County looked fairly decent, very different type of side to say Luton, id compare them to Stevenage under Westley the first time when they came up through League Two, very efficient, not pretty or overly talented football wise but played to their strengths and fairly ‘professional’, didn’t overly like the constant surrounding of the referee, had a couple of bookings for dissent and the diving wasn’t great but the referee should of stamped it out by giving a yellow and didn’t.

Overall we are competing with the top sides, outplayed Colchester in a Draw, beat Coventry, annihilated Luton and gave it a real go today so all in all positive.

Liked the new kit too!

Aspin has done a job with vale. They looked a shambles when we visited earlier in the season. They are one of the better sides I've seen visit the lane this season.
