Shows how non-existent he was. One good season (Well half a season) for Stockport in League one when he got something like 15 goals from midfield. Then three with us in the championship, dropped down with us and found his level for a season and a half. Obviously does well in such an attack minded and in League one terms quality team as MK.

I know but it would be pretty risk free, with no fee involved, most likely on reduced wages from when we last had him. He hasn't been given a proper run in a side for years. If he was half as good as the Nicky Maynard we had circa 2009 then it would be well worth it. Only 28 so I wouldn't write him off just yet in terms of getting his career back on track.

Even if he was anything like the old Maynard, which I'm almost certain he wouldn't be, why would you want him back after how he acted the last time he was at the club? It's the complete opposite of what our current squad is - a past-it, whiny, injury-prone player with a terrible attitude.

I do agree with what you're saying mate, I'm just playing devils advocate really. Would I take want him back? Probably not if I was being sensible. But then I think about goals like this and my mind sways towards the idea

Speaking from some sort of experience, we had a similar situation (kind of) to what's happening here. 2 years ago we could have played over paid mercenaries (Roger Johnson and Jamie O'Hara) that were supposed to be good players, or we could have played players from our academy. We went with the former option and it ended up in us being relegated to League 1. If I were you I'd leave well alone, you don't want a player who could potentially have a toxic personality in your changing room, as it could have the same effect on the rest of your squad.

We decided it best to reject massive money to keep a player who wanted out so it was never going to end well, safe to say it didn't. I don't really see the point in contracts in football (in their current format anyway) as most players don't really give a shit for them. Say a player signs a 3 year deal, has a great first year and a big club come in for him and try and tempt him with over inflated wages and a higher league. The player is all too happy to throw his toys out of the pram and demand a transfer even though his documents state he's contracted to the club for another 2 years. Yet it's all well and good when you have players who sit in the reserves, do fuck all and collect £35,000 per week in wages though (again, happened at Wolves)...

To be honest I don't know what we were ever thinking by not accepting that bid. He only had until the end of the season anyway so it would've been the perfect deal for both parties. For some reason we naively though he might sign a new deal. He didn't, and we only got £1.5m for him in the end.

I am yet to be convinced by him.If Federici goes he may well become our number one.

I can't exactly remember either, I do recall he wanted to go to a Premier League club ideally but Leicester were a very attractive prospect at the time so he definitely would've wanted to join them once the bid(s) came in, I have no doubts about that. Think about the money he would've been on for a start.

Anyway, whether he wanted to join a Championship club or not, how foolish were we to reject that bid. Absolute madness.

Sad to see Sako and Doyle leave. Sako will no doubt go to the Premier League and hopefully reach his potential as the great player Wolves fans know he can be. Doyle has been a great servant to the club, and pretty much kept us up on his own in the first PL season. Although he hasn't featured much in the last 2 years, he as always been very humble towards the fans and the club. Don't have a bad word to say about him and hope he enjoys his time in the MLS with Colorado Rapids.

We've released JET - where to start with that one? See the huge great thread in the L1 section. Also Dave Richards, a youth keeper who didn't play a minute for us.

Wade Elliott's been offered a coaching role with the U21s. Doesn't really have the engine for the Championship anymore but a great influence around the dressing room. Would be ideal, but I wouldn't blame him if he wanted to continue his playing career, still got enough quality for L1. And Marlon Pack's been offered a new deal. Happy with that, he's been outstanding since breaking into the starting lineup in February, fantastic range of passing, but he'll have to fight for his place once again next year as we'll be looking to add depth in midfield.

Of the players still under contract I'm sure we'll try and offload Adam El Abd but it may be tricky as he's on a decent wedge. Could end up with Bury again. Maybe Karleigh Osborne and Scott Wagstaff as well, depending on how many we can bring in over the summer.

Apparently Waggy does a lot behind the scenes, not sure just what that is but because of that we might keep him.
