Wellens head coach with scholes/seedorf as director of football type role would be perfect for me. Untold amound of contacts from the latter 2, with wellens proving above and beyond in the last 3 games he can get the best out of the players available.

Sat will be interesting. I'd imagine we will have a gaffer by then

Wellens was always going to go into management, you could see him heading that way in his last spell with us.

Wellens is playing the media, and the fans, like a fiddle. Very canny.

That's Wellens appointed then.

As the chief exec said, RW made what would have been a very unlikely decision a few weeks ago into a very easy one. He's got us playing really well, and long may it continue.

Takeover is ongoing, still some things to sort out.

I really believe we can rocket up the table now, one of the reasons being who we've yet to play:

About time. Would have been uproar had it gone to anyone else.
We are playing some of the best football I've seen in years and competing with some of the best teams in the division, beating most of them in the process. As you say the fixture list looks generous in the coming months. If we can kick on and position ourselves well for January things could look bright.

Just hope this takeover situation is the solid outlook we all hope it is

Our Chief Exec, Mark Moisley, has confirmed on local radio this morning that Dubai-based businessman Abdallah Lemsagem will be taking over full control of the club, and therefore not just a case of investing with the current owner Simon Corney retaining his position. Corney will cease control of the club pending EFL approval within the next 4-6 wks. That will leave Lemsagem owning 97% of the club, with the Trust owning the remaining 3%.

Positive news indeed for us. Apparently he wants re re-jig our reserve team system and has already attended a number of those games, he wants to continue to make improvements to Boundary Park, and he just wants to make a difference. Hopefully his links to Sheikh Mansour will help!

I appreciate all foreign takeovers need to be taken with a pinch of salt these days, however Latics aren't really going anywhere under the present ownership, so I'm all for taking this leap. Some much needed positivity for us finally.

Best of Luck.

Be wary though, look how far we have dropped in the last 3 years - We had alot of money pumped into us by a group of Italians, but with servere and ultimately dire consequences for our club. They ultimately last season pulled the plug on us in January, forcing the youth team to play and selling all our senior strikers.

Not everyone will end up like us though. Who knows, you may get out of this league the right way afterall!

Takeover still on track.

Paul Jewell set to be appointed as Wellens' assistant. Great move if true!

Jewell confirmed as assistant, Paul Terry also joins us. Jewell is a cracking appointment for a manager just starting out.

Abdallah Lemsangam's takeover only has talks over valuation of the ground and land to deal with. Who knows how that will pan out though.

And in alarming news, HRMC investigated the club on Monday and took away some papers....

Cracking appointment that. Oldham going about things very well. Can certainly be one of the teams that has a second half of the season play off push.

If this takeover is an unqualified success then Oldham will reach the dizzying heights of 8th in L1. If it is an unmitigated disaster then Oldham could plummet as low as 20th in L1. All to play for.

We've signed a couple already but they cannot be registered as we're under an embargo whilst this takeover goes through. The players seem to think that may well be finalised and confirmed on Monday...

Sorry didn't know where to put this but Oldham fans, what is Ollie Banks like? We have signed him on loan until the end of the season.

Thanks

As if someone who doesn't know about football tried to create what a footballer should be like. Marginally better than Anton Rodgers.

Today is the day this is finally announced.

Whether it’s ends up with us mimicking the likes of Bournemouth or ending up like Leyton Orient, I’m looking forward to the changes it does bring because I’ve been bored out of my tits for too long now.

Cock well and truly out.

Give him us then. Freebies.

Happily, his £6k-£7k a week contract might be an issue though, considering some imbecile decided to give the twat a 3-year deal.
