I agree with Dave. Tough tough game, I expect them to come up here and punish us for our defensive frailties and take the 3 points.

I also expect them to surprise a few by finishing top 7. They've made some good signings over the summer.

Our pre-season recruitment was awful, only Dembele and Stephens are any good. As a unit we're a fair bit weaker than we were last season. Which signings have we made that you think are decent?

Most fans right now think we'll be lucky to finish top 17, let alone top 7.

On paper, Dembele, Stephens, Champion, Batt and Hoyte look good signings. Lisbie as well if he's still anywhere near the player he was 2 years ago in league 1. I thought Akinde would have been away before this month so that's excellent for you. This along with the momentum from last season as well, that's why I think you'll finish higher than you are.

Is balanta doing well for you lot ?

I'd have said he was one of our most hard-working players, and was my personal MoM against Chesterfield. Nothing spectacular but just seemed very competent, played some sublime passes in the attacking third, tackled strongly in the middle and even found time to clear one off the line. When played as a centre-mid in games I've seen him, I can't think of any misplaced passes I've seen.

Could be that Curle, having worked with him when he was just coming up from QPR's academy, knew something about him that Clarke hadn't picked up on.

Champion is a Conference player through and through. Batt plays like a blindfolded ostrich. Hoyte was a good signing on paper but he's an inferior RB to Yiadom who MA now insists on playing out of position. Lisbie turns 37 soon and was out injured most of last season, and now looks to be out for most of this season too.

We do actually have a fantastic young player in Shomotun, but he's 5'8" and pretty slightly built, while MA rates players based on strength, height, pace, javelin throwing ability and technique, in descending order of importance.

I'm prepared to give Batt a little longer, he looked better on Tuesday and may have been a bit rusty after 6 months out.
The call from fans for Shomotun is growing louder, He came on against Crystal Palace in a friendly and pulled them apart for the last 30 min of the game with clever runs, neat interplay and decisive through balls. To my mind he needs to be given his chance considering how badly we are struggling in that department .

We haven't been battered that badly all season and yet we've managed our first home league win. Funny game sometimes.
