Right - I have weighed up all the pros and cons of this match and finally reached my conclusions.
But first let me say - I have just sent the wife down the road to buy a marzipan hat. I may need to eat it.

Much to my chagrin - I don't think we will keep a clean sheet. In fact I think we will suffer our biggest goals against for a long while.
Carlisle will score 3 goals - Grainger (pen) Wyke and Asamoah. Jabo won't get a look in.
However, I think we will get 7. A Maguire hat-trick, 2 for Kemar Roofe and 2 for Liam Sercombe. According to the BBC stats we have had more shots on goal than any other club in the division. 4 times the opposition GK has won MOTM..
Whatever happens - with a 5 point gap between 3rd and 4th we will still be in an automatic promotion spot at the end of the day hopefully with 43 points - which has been enough to avoid relegation in some seasons.

So what is happening around us.
I dont expect Cambridge to get anything at Plymouth and Argylle will also have 43 points.
Cobblers fans, ecstatic at the saving of their club will be brought back down to earth by Luton. Cobblers to remain on 40 pts.
Accy Wycombe will hopefully be a draw. Accy 36 pts - Wycombe 31.
Pompey should beat 'pools - Pompey 37 pts.
Carlisle on still on 33 pts.
and the only other match concering those of us at the top. is Mansfield Orient.
A draw would be ideal. n Mansfield also 33 pts. Orient 32.

It's a good job I like marzipan

A point today would be as good as a win. So a win today would be as good as sex.
Funnily enough though it doesn't work the other way round. Most women don't appreciate being told that sex was 'as good as an away win at Oxford' (and I'm sure the women here can apply the same logic to non football supporting men).

Bad as our defence is, I can't see us conceding 7. I think the result will be either 2-2, or one of us will win 3-2 (probably Oxford).

I believe Jabo will score, if Asamoah and Gillead are able to pull your defenders about with their pace and skillz then Jabo will find himself unmarked in the box at some point.

Interesting selection. If the Oxford fans assessments of their strengths and weaknesses are correct then I'm not sure what Curle has in mind. Two target men and only really Gilliead who might be able to get the ball to them. I guess we hope we can change things later on, as when you see Asamoah on the bench it's almost inevitable he'll be coming on at some point.

McQueen dropped completely, which is a shame, I always hope to see more from him.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
very strong starting 11 for us so this is a good test to see if our team is genuinely good enough for top 7 or not.

from sounds of it on radio with Curle there he's decided to just take the game to Oxford because others have done opposite and failed so is maybe hoping to fox them by going for the attack away at top of the league.

i wanted us to go and take game to them so we'll see if it works.

should score 2, should conceed 2.......who will get more than 2 goals to win it?

Crunching some numbers on the road and now able to offer a bit more insight into the match: Carlisle to have 18% possession.

Twitter feed looks like one-way traffic, expect us to notch a second shortly after half time.

Our commentators feel that the linesman wasn't in a good position to judge Sweeney's goal as offside. They're not saying it was onside, they don't know, but they feel the linesman was too far behind play to make a decision.

Is that only the Oxford Twitter feed by any chance, because if I was to guess from ours I'd say we've had more good chances and could easily have had one wrongly ruled out for offside. Listening to the game it sounds like it's been pretty even overall, although that evenness has been split into spells where we've dominated and spells where you've dominated.

But we are doing back heels and generally flair force one whilst your workmanlike approach has yielded no legal goals.

Edit: timing.

Reports on our end are that we've been the better side and made you look sort of ordinary (so far), guess it's the bias from your media then.

Either you've just called Oufc bias for reporting an own goal, or I've not understood you there.

Half time 1-1. Really good game. I can see why Oxford have the best defence in the league. We've tested them but they've stood up really well.

We didn't deserve to go in 1-0 down, all be it a quality Oxford goal. Our goal was very fortunate but well deserved imo. A stone wall handball penalty right before our goal, plus I'm convinced our disallowed goal was onside, but I'm probably wrong as always.

Id settle for a dull goalless second half to be honest. Although I can't see that happening.
