Doesn't make any sense. Unless the new owners have found some cash or he knew he was going to be replaced at Bradford...

Rosler has been watching us since October, despite the new owners playing down his involvement the other week and I've been told he's already been at the club this afternoon, he would've been breathing down PP's neck until the inevitable dip in form and he took over anyway.
Initial reaction, annoyed. As much as anything by going to a team in the same league with reported troubles financially, but still enough saying that to fork out £300k for he and Steve Parkin's compo.
The truth is though he probably took us as far as he could, we had a laughable fourth highest budget last year with nothing in terms of squad quality to show for it, the football on the whole has been well documented hoof and he's yet to sign a decent striker (or keeper for that matter) in however long he's been here, Wells and Hanson were here already when he joined.
Some unbelievably great memories but replaceable all the same.

Im not overly bothered tbh we've had some great memories with him lifting us from the depths of the khazi but I also believe he had took as us as far as he could. Our best players were either here before he arrived or handed to him on plate as loans from West Ham. A lot of his own signings have'nt been great infact some of the loans have been quite baffling.

Saw on Twitter someone saying Bradford offered Parkinson to Bolton at a cut price compo fee?

Not bothered at all!

£300k in our pocket, and as mentioned above, he had taken us as far as he could. It'll be nice to bring in a manager who knows how to enforce plan B - and more importantly, better football on the eye.

We will have a large budget next season, and it's all part of the transition - what with the new ownership.

I expect Rosler or another German manager to be announced later next week.

CITD !!!

Tbf he is probably a good fit for them to stop there sinking ship which he will do, there problems will arise when he is given funds to kick on to next level.

Perfect fit for Bolton, he's a 'steady the ship' manager and a good one at that, but for that reason it's obvious why no one from higher up has ever come in for him; the footballs awful and he maxes out budgets with average players. It'll be something to look forward to with hopefully nicer football and a plan B which he never ever had. Billy Knott already saying to the clubs official Twitter that now they 'still have his number', PP has his undroppable favourites, Sheehan called it 'the inner circle' which was clear to see

Wasn't too long back a Bradford fan was having a go at people saying PP was a hoof'er...no idea which one though. And that Blades fans were daft for saying they didn't want him, now you're all glad he's gone

Will be interesting to see what happens at Bolton and Bradford now. Do you think Rosler will hit the ground running or take time to change the philosophy of long ball? Hopefully the latter

I've heard from a few now that £300k compo is well wide of the mark. The fact that Bolton have taken so long in appointing a manager is down to finances, as the general consensus was that they'd go for someone out of a job, therefore avoiding the compo issue entirely.

Led to believe it's a figure much, much lower than that, mainly because Bradford already have their eyes set on someone (Rosler?) and had Parkinson still been there, they'd have had to pay him compo themselves to release him from his contract.

Low compo fee helps Bolton, and it also helps Bradford in terms of bringing someone in without paying compo themselves (or two lots of compo if it's someone in a job and not Rosler). Win/Win all round basically.

Firstly I don't think he is an all out hoofer his teams just know how to mix it up when required as we also played some good stuff at times, secondly you were wrong to not want him as he would of progressed you upto our level and got you into at least the play offs.

If getting a team into the play-offs is as far as he can take someone (as your fans are suggesting) then he's not the guy for us. Just cos we've had worse it doesn't mean his appointment would've been correct.

As I said above, he 'steadies ships' - he sorted us out after we finished 18th in League 2, but as we've moved up the league, our ambition, like yours, is to move out of this league, and the truth is he's too limited a manager to expect that from

I'm not disagreeing...i do agree with you and that's why I didn't want him tbf. Just amuses me how (seemingly) fans opinions change on someone once they leave, we all do it I'm sure.

Been used to stability with the management and ownership over the past 4/5 years and we've had progression every season with Parkinson, so no matter which way you look at it it's a kick in the teeth.

Massively strange decision for him to go there though, from a club with high hopes of promotion to a club in debt with no money? Suppose managers do like a challenge?

Not keen at all on Rosler coming in and then the inevitable influx in cheap German players, but we'll all need to accept that very quickly because it's going to happen!

Good luck to him though, been my favourite manager by far since I've been a supporter.

The compo amount is very interesting. Bolton haven't taken Brown because of the compensation they'd have to pay us

So, after the about-face of almost every 1FF Bradford City fan on Phil Parkinson, we are probably better off taking everything they say ever again with a massive dose of salt?

Decent appointment for Notlob. Right man at the right time, similar to when we appointed Jackett back in 2013

Parkinson can only 'steady a ship'

What complete and utter tripe.

He took Bradford to a league cup final as a league 2 side, promoted in the same season.

He reached the league one play-offs last season and Bradford were one of the favourites to finish in the top two this coming season.

I'm in a minority of Charlton fans who believe he was harshly sacked at our place. He had an impossible task of keeping us in the Championship after the sacking of Pardew. We had absolutely no money to spend yet we reached the league one play-offs in his first full season in charge and we were in 5th place when he was sacked the following season.

As Jockney rightly points out, Parkinson was great a few days ago but now he's no great loss according to the Bradford fans on here. The same fans who were slating Millwall for being no good after being swept aside by them in the play-offs.

Looks like I'm going to have to ignore a lot of what Bradford fans say in here next season.

Good appointment for Bolton just think he would be better off where he was personally.

I'm just happy we have a manager, now next step is getting out of the transfer embargo., so also assuming that the accounts are now ready to be signed off and submitted (which is the reason we failed FFP, rather then have gone over the FFp budget)...onwards and upwards

You'll have to get up some of these praise quotes to back up these claims, everyone more than appreciates the job he did with us and the unreal memories but that's not to say it was great to watch. At least once a season his position has been questioned.

Im sure you will be very happy with your boards appointment as he is by far the best candidate out of the names banded about for a club in your position, he will get your team professional and solid at the back without doubt as his first priorities which is always a good start.

I'm disappointed he's gone as I was interested what would happen recruitment-wise this summer following the takeover. That said, clearly he and the owners haven't seen eye to eye in their early contact so it's best he leaves now whilst there is still enough time to bring in a new manager and players.

I think calling him a 'steady the ship' manager is quite harsh given the progression he's given us in the league and all the cup games - almost regardless of how he's done it, as I think we can agree the football hasn't been hugely entertaining at times. He had a method though and it worked, for the most part.

He certainly won't ever manage near/at the top as he has his limitations, but I do think he could take a team up from this league and cope in the Championship, in the right circumstances.

Just hope now we make the right appointment for the club to take us forward. No bitterness from me, good luck PP.

'Steady the ship' seems to have been interpreted as a criticism when that wasn't my intention. When he came here we were a mess, worst squad in years, at risk of dropping out of the football league, and he turned us round to where we are now. Bolton in their way are a mess, he'll go in, sign grafters who will stop the rot, get them very solid eventually and build from there. His skill is achieving points through grit and hard work rather than attractive football with plenty of goals.

What's the craic with your finances? Are you expecting a budget to get you challenging for promotion straight back?

Fair enough - pretty much agree with what you've said there.
