I'm not having a go ... you won fair and square , but you can't carry on needing 3 or 4 goals to get something

Don't know... Does it matter how many we concede if can score one more? We could certainly do with having a better defence but the general attitude among the team seems to be, who needs defence when you have Jabo.

But we don't score more. We've scored 10 and conceded 12. We only have 6 points, 1 win and we're in the bottom half of the table, despite scoring a lot of goals.

So yeah who needs defence when we've got Jabo? If we aspire to avoid relegation fine, but if we want to actually get into the top half or challenge the playoff spots, than the defence needs sorted out regardless of who we have up front.

Only Orient (top) have scored more than us, but we've conceded more than anyone else in this league. I'm absolutely sick to death of leading the way in the goals conceded column season after season. It's embarrassing and unacceptable that this shambles hasn't been sorted after 3 consecutive seasons of it.

Yeah I kind of thought that, but any excuse for me to spin some negativity. I'm finding it difficult!!
but I think some of our fans genuinely have those views that as long as we've got Ibehre we'll be fine no matter how many we concede.

I just think it's surely going to improve soon, once players get used to the new style of play and formation. It might not get any better, but I live in hope.

Also, I'm just happy we've got someone who can score a range of goals - Jabo's lethal in the air, and his dangerous with the ball at his feet.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
Great win, agreed with what HG said on previous page its something we've deserve this season we have not deserved to go this long without a win on our performances, we should have beaten Cambridge, could have beaten Wimbledon and should not have lost at Plymouth.........but we just get hit with the harsh reality that if you make too many mistakes you won't win games regardless.

on the plus side its nice to see our morale and effort has kept going, sometimes when you cannot win it dies a death and suddenly performances reflect the bad run, this team seems to keep battling away so it'll get time from the fans for that reason.

It won't go up without improvements as Jabo will have a spell of not scoring which will worry me if we keep conceeding 2 a game, but i think we'd put up with midtable if its this enjoyable all attack approach.

they have a chance now to build on this win with a run of games against sides not in form................need to take it.

I am glad though to see a gamble of going away from home and shoving 4 forward and having a real go for the win has worked.........hate it when you turn to that ultra negative 9 at back hope to nick it away tactics...........hope that dies a death in football one day.

From what I've seen, most of the goals we've conceded this season haven't been due to teams getting in behind us, despite how attacking our tactics are. We've conceded a lot of goals as a result of individual mistakes, a slip, a misplaced pass or a defender allowing his man to get away from him. Whether this is because our defenders are especially error prone, or whether it's just that the way we play, we don't have much of a safety net whenever a defender does make a mistake, I don't know but hopefully we can fix that.

Hartlepool fans are complaining about the conduct of away fans yesterday. Some seats ripped out and 'vile behaviour'.

There was one poolie who had a huge video rant on Facebook about vile Carlisle fans, he referred to the guy who spat at a player, but it only takes a handful of fans to spit, or shout abuse at the family stand, or rip up a few seats, and these 'fans' probably aren't even going to Brunton Park (and they certainly won't be going once identified). It's a shame that their actions get most of the attention, and a handful of wannabe hoolies lead to us being cast as a 'vile' set of fans. It's just one of those things though, there are bound to be incidents in the return fixture and there will be incidents at other fixtures too, we have Barnet at home next, I'd be surprised if that doesn't attract a small 'naughty' element. Such is life.

Just watched the whole match. We did deserve the win but it really should have been about 5-3.

Don't think the match video will shed any light on fans in the wrong.

The play was stopped when we had the ball second half, so drop ball... Paynter decided he was going to contest it with Jason Kennedy, so Ibehre intervened, Kennedy stepped aside. So drop ball, Paynter v Ibehre...

No prizes for guessing who won it.

This was obviously done in aid of this thread.

If I remember correctly from the BBCRC commentary, was there also a moment where Ibehre wiped out two or three Hartlepool players charging into the box?

Legend has it that even today Paynter is still contesting that drop ball, such is the speed of Ibehre.

There really is no excuse, my mate who was there kept texting that this guy in front of him kept giving the finger to the family stand, but this sort of behaviour isn't any more prevalent among Carlisle fans than it is the fans of any other club. Some of what I've read, you'd think that the Rink End yesterday witnessed scenes unheard of in the world of football.

Our away end is right beside the family stand, I'm sure that despite this, every single team that has visited Brunton Park has had at least a handful of fans who have used bad language.

They all snuck in through the Billy Paynter sized hole in the Victoria Park wall. :P

Bragging rights are definately Carlisles.

However, six yellows, Magnay off injured at half time after being kicked and a penalty pretty much sums up the tactics. Such is life I suppose.

But magnay didn't get kicked did he? I've watched the full match back.

The ref was an absolute tit. Some of the yellows were ridiculous, especially Miller's. The only decision he actually got right was giving the penalty.

Kennedy was an idiot for the penalty, but it wasn't particularly heavy handed... under normal circumstances it would never have been a penalty, but in this case, because the referee warned him for holding onto Fenwick, and then Kennedy proceeded to still hold him, the referee did the right thing by awarding a penalty and booking Kennedy. It was good refereeing really, to say, 'when I tell you not to do something, you don't do it'... but that's not to say Kennedy was being especially rough with Fenwick.

I think if more refs started giving penalties for these things it would stop pretty quickly. Like Paynter should have been penalised for ripping Grainger's shirt clean off, instead the clown of a ref was laughing about it.
