He's not the man to establish any kind of league dominance (admittedly that's a tough ask in the Premier League), I don't think he's particularly good in the transfer market, not very good tactically, and not going to deliver City European success so this is good news for everyone else - particularly in the light of all the Pep to City stuff that gets talked about every season.

Awful club with awful fans, lets be honest the only reason they are not widely despised is people think it's hillarious that United's city rivals are competing with us.

It's actually craxy that the City squad is in that state given how much you spent on it. They pretty much need the same as what we need. We've pissed money up the wall these last few years but when you think that 2 years ago they were champions whilst we were languishing in 7th, and they've spent more money in that time whilst losing far fewer players it's astonishing.

Thinking of players who've gone past their peak in that time you've basically got Toure and Zabeletta yet over 200 million spent they look a far worse team.

Big job for Guardiola , Champions league or not.

Already bleary-eyed, The Fiver watched intently to see what the Chilean would deliver as a parting gift to the few that didn’t have somewhere more important to be. Perhaps he would go full-Skeletor, defiantly flip the bird, drop the mic and skip down the tunnel. Or perhaps he would deliver in that snoozy atin tone, a message of thanks, of hope, of integrity. “It was not our way that we wanted to finish the season,” he Pellegrinied. “We wanted to qualify for the final of [Big Cup] and win today to qualify for the next [Big Cup]. If you wanted a manager with a more aggressive demeanor to organise a defence and counteract the softly softly "everything is awesome" Martinez approach, then I wouldn't say Pellegrini is exactly ideal. But clearly a step up on Martinez.

Everton would be punching massively over their weight if they get Pellegrini, he would be a fantastic appointment. As I said before Martinez got the axe, he's criminally underrated.

I guess everyone's forgotten the amazing job Pellegrini did with Villarreal on a measly budget. He would be a huge upgrade for Everton, I think he could get a better job elsewhere though. Just because he hasn't succeeded at the highest level with City (he arguably has considering he won the league during his tenure), doesn't mean he wouldn't be able to improve the fortunes of a mid-table side like Everton.

He made Villarreal a Champions League side, he got them to a Champions League semi-final and finished second in a league which has Barcelona and Real Madrid in it. With Villarreal. A team that only made its debut in La Liga a few seasons earlier. He also led Malaga to the Champions League for the first time in their history. Gash?

Like Ranieri and Rafa, he couldn't succeed at the biggest clubs and couldn't achieve their definitions of "success", but there is nothing to suggest he wouldn't be a fantastic appointment for Everton. The pressures at those elite clubs are far in excess of what he'd have to deal with at teams that should be challenging for the Europa League, like Villarreal and Malaga. He significantly overachieved with those clubs. Everton hasn't had a manager of his calibre in the Premiership era. His teams play sexy football too.

Martinez is a goner anyway, it was fun to watch while it lasted.

He's not going to United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, City (obviously) or Spurs. Southampton, West Ham, Stoke, Swansea, Watford all have settled/newly appointed managers, he isn't going to manage at any sides lower than those I mentioned and he supposedly said that he wants to remain in the Premier League.

Everton really isn't that far fetched.
