A decent manager if he's got a big budget.

Given the budget we've got this term, there's no real reason why he'd need or want to go to Gillingham.

Undoubtedly done a lot better than us for some time, but could very possibly be swapping divisions.

If Gillingham want to pay 6 figures for him, then it could become interesting

Evans, give him his due, is a decent manager but a revolting human.

He would never join us after the 'racist' abuse he got from Hess (I think it was)

While it'd probably be a good footballing decision to get him in, and a step back up the ladder for Evans at the same time - no thanks.

I'd be surprised if we can even afford the compensation let alone provide him with a decent budget. Add to that he's a massive thundercunt. Absolutely no thanks.

He's got what he needs here, I can't see how you can offer what we're doing. That's not a go at gillingham, but I bet our budget is at least on par with yours. We can't hope to offer the the recent history you boys have had, but given were both teams are I think he's happy where he is.

He'll probably get us promotion, but he's dodgy on he pitch. For what it's worth, off the pitch he's quality, as I've encountered several times in awards or meetings.

Last time we had a fans meeting Scally said our wage budget was around £1.6m. I can't see that being bigger than yours, maybe on a par.

We Gills Fans agree and sincerely hope that you are right. There is a rumour that we may have some prospective new owners or investors who want Evans. Otherwise this does not make sense at all.

Surely Scally knows how much the fat sweaty scot is loathed here.

He's loathed at most though isn't he?

And now Peter Taylor has gone along with our fitness coach.

Our current management team is Steve Lovell and Mark Patterson, not actually sure we have ANY other members of management staff left at the club.

As long as you don't get anyone in before the 21st...we don't want to be a victim of the new manager bounce although that probably wouldn't effect the outcome anyway. :ffs:

Westley favourite

I'm wondering if we've adopted the approach of talking to every despicable manager there is

I'd rather have JED with Pennock as Assistant than Westley.

So despite Lovell taking 7 points from 12 with back to back away wins, there still looms the spectre of Graham Westley being made manager.

Just on the horrible off-chance he's appointed (God help him if he is), does anyone, anywhere have anything even remotely positive to say about him as a manager?

He's better than Dave Robertson.

Westley was sacked after our youth team beat his Newport first team 4-0 in March. It kept Newport up, because they sacked him straight afterwards.

Westley seems like the kind of manager who can only do it at one club, similar to John Coleman and Keith Hill.

Shola Ameobi's Notts County
would love Westley as Notts manager - the man is box office. As far as managerial ability goes, he's clearly not a *bad* manager, just one that needs to be in the right situation with a squad and owner that can a) tolerate him and b) buy into what he's selling. Those two things probably mean he is a bad manager because he can't adapt but you get what I mean. Preston never 'got' him because they were, in all honesty, probably a club too big for him (and he turned up day 1 and told the squad “My kids don’t call me Dad… they call me medal winner.”) and Peterborough seemed to bring him in and then ask him to attempt to be the lower league Guardiola (didn't he say his main aim was to complete 500 passes a game?)

Steve Lovell till the end of the season, seems a great guy and a good choice in my opinion.

Seems to rate Sean Clare as well, wants to extend him to the end of the season. Take it he's been doing well for you even in the right back slot?

Yep, Clare has been a great stand in right back. For me, actually more impressive than when he was in midfield as he's a great ball carrier and can run from deep.

Lovell is absolutely the right choice at this moment in time.

Pleased for Lovell he deserves his chance, we may still go down but with Lovell in charge it won't be without a fight.

Can someone confirm if they think Justin Edinburgh would be a good appointment in the National League for us? He is very likely to be our new manager next week I've heard..............I'm sceptical about him, he was awful at Northampton.
