I've never seen anything like this but if he's lost the dressing room then this is a good decision, doesn't matter when it is.

I knew that your vocabulary was a bit simple...

Yep, simple vocabulary for a simple man. Suits me just fine, even more so when the forum I'm posting on isn't one dedicated to discussing the merits of G.K.Chesterton's quotations or Vladimir Nabokov's literary masterpieces but merely a football related one.

To be fair though, you lot didn't want Taylor either. It wasn't as if the fans were in outcry.
You might not be surprised to learn that he was a player who divided opinion. I was one of those who wanted to see him in a role that played to his strengths, rather than as an isolated forward who was expected to win the ball, shield it from the defenders marking him and lay it off to someone joining the attack from midfield. Clearly Bristol Rovers have worked out how to use him, or he just fits into their game plan, and he pretty much scores goals for fun. In the past we had golden boot winners in Fleetwood and Mangan, we could so easily have had a third in Taylor, but sadly due to tactical stupidity we didn't.

Standard Vince hypocrisy

Care about the fans views with a manager, but not the badge or kit colours :dk:

Listen to his last few interviews. He was always going to be sacked. Calling the club unprofessional live on the radio, after all the backing he's had is pretty poor. Reports of him completely losing the dressing room, so why should he stay?

We are 24th in the form charts. If that had happened in September he would be sacked, so why wouldn't he be sacked now?

You guys saw how we limped out of the playoffs last year, I think it will cause us no harm sacking Pennock a week before, if anything it will do us good. At least my neck will be able to rest now..

Having heard a rumour that Swampy has been spotted crawling on his hands and knees up the M6, I followed a hunch and got in the DeLorean and nipped down to The Shay this Saturday evening. Sure enough, there he was in the car park on his knees, imploring Big Jim to please come back. I heard Jim laughing and saying something like "No fucking chance, I'm at real club now you dickhead". That's a true story. :£:£:£:£:£:£

I sort of get the rationale of getting rid, and perhaps with the recent form shown, the chairman may view it as a no lose situation, hoping obviously that thee new manager syndrome may well be enough to get them through the last three possibly four games, but regardless of his comments, and regardless how the FGR board viewed them, to sack a man that, with ease had got them into second place shows at best a lack of class and at worse just how ruthless the quest for success is at any level.
Listening to many of AP's post match comments and analysis though the rhetoric used is very reminiscent of the waffle messers Hurst and Brabin use, especially following unexpected reversals, where it's almost a blame everyone and everything rather than perhaps man up and take responsibility for said failings. Fans are not stupid, and can small deflection from fourteen pitches away and the more you tray and make excuses the more it alienates.
As a neutral, though I still think the timing is amazingly callous it may actually represent a shrewd move, especially if the hoped for galvanisation comes to fruition. Be fascinating to see what sort of team they play at Dover Saturday, was sure they would rest all the regulars, am not too sure now........

He'll probably get the Leeds job when Evans moves to Celtic.

It does sound true. I'm not sure how anyone could doubt it's veracity.

Rumours of Mark Cooper being interested, ex player and is always happy coming and watching our games, would be very happy with him!

Where does it say about this?:)

Was told by a mate who works for Ecotricity.

Might just be to clarify the situation rather then announce a new appointment though. Cooper I'd be well happy with but isn't he in a job atm?

It doesn't need cutting, it needs rolling and resuscitating (somehow). Getting contractors in apparently.

He's at Notts County but rumours circulating that he didn't show up to his press conference yesterday and that he will be leaving, just rumors though so don't hold me to this ;)

I know Cooper would have loved to come here in the past, and he'd be far more popular with fans then DH or AP ever were.

Brilliant player, captain and player of the season. Legend.

Trying not to get my hopes up this time though, after the last 2 appointments were so underwhelming.

How is Pennock underwhelming? He has lead you to 2 playoff finishes, what more do you expect from a manager? Okay he may have lost the dressing room and had digs at the club recently but in no way is that underwhelming after what he's achieved.

When you get bored watching football you know it's bad, I can't remember the last time I enjoyed watching FGR, the 'football' pennock made the team play was tragic, he bottled under the pressure, couldn't handle it one bit, he had to go.

I still don't think that makes you underwhelming. He had a job that he's completed, take a team with your budget and compete for the title you can't deny he's not done well even if it was boring to watch.

We've not competed for the title for the last two months...

Played terrible football despite a huge budget and quality squad. The league is shite this season, would have been difficult not to finish second.

He froze out loads of quality players, brought in mediocre ones and fell out with several others behind the scenes, including staff like Matt Rainey and Kev Phillips who were both top blokes. Not a nice man to work for at all, despite his nice guy image.

Got what he deserved, good riddance.

To be fair, your first couple of sentences could also be applied to seventh-placed Eastleigh.
