IF it's correct that Pep is thinking about the next few years only, before goes and does other things, then City would be the more obvious choice than United.

Man United is a long term rebuilding project that needs several transfer windows to fix things. The money is there to do it and it'd be a cracking challenge for someone to get their teeth into. But they aren't likely to be hitting Champions League finals any time soon. Even with God himself as manager. And he's still busy here at Bournemouth!

City aren't a perfect side by any means, and also needs some squad rejuvenation. But they have far fewer problems to address in the short term, and with a much small number of recruits they would be a more realistic shot at winning titles and Champions Leagues over the next 3 years.

Just watching NBC after the Arsenal Man City game and they've come up with a fairly interesting theory regarding Peps future.
If Arsenal were to win the league this season, do we think that Wenger may step aside on a high for Pep to take the reigns?
In some respects it makes sense. Wenger gets to go out on a high and he gets to hand over the club to probably the one man he'd feel most comfortable letting it go to. From Guardiolas point of view it's the club and squad that most fits his style of football.
I think if Arsenal did win the league and Arsene were to step down then Pep would go to Arsenal over every other option. I'm just not sure if Wengbot Femputer would be able to cut the chord, especially given the amount of time he's had to put in to get another league title.

wont happen. Wenger doesn't give up and he doesn't step aside. He loves the club and he won't go until he feels the legacy he's built is in tact. He knows that the financial potential of Arsenal is now up there with anyone, and he will be buying the best in the world. Ozil, Sanchez, Cech, we will see another big buy in the summer. He won't go until his contract is up, if not even an extension. I can see him here for 3 more years, with Ozil, Sanchez, Ramsey, Bellerin, Walcott, Coquelin, Wilshere, Ox, Welbeck, all entering their primes.

No but for me the expectation almost entirely hinges on Real Madrid. They have a lot of players you could class in 'best in the world' as Avatar puts it and they won't all be happy at the end of the season. Aside from them though the top clubs will keep their top players. Only those the wrong side of 30, like a Robben or Ribery, may leave their clubs, and I don't see you going for those types. Lewandowski would surely stay at Bayern now that Ancelotti is going to take charge. And players like Gotze will likely stick around in case the Italian utilises him more than Pep currently does.

From Bayern and Barca I don't see anybody leaving that you'd be interested in. Real Madrid may well have a healthy number of potential outs, with Toni Kroos being probably the best fit for Arsenal and one of the players currently not impressing at the Bernabeau, but perhaps also a bit of a luxury given the fact he'd be competition for Cazorla really. James Rodriguez is another touted as a possible mover in the summer as he's been unhappy with his minutes this season after his injury, but he's getting more gametime now although he's generally the first guy subbed off in games, and again his position is competition with Ozil, so at this stage another luxury.

Really Arsenal are short of a top striker and a top centreback to play with Koscielny, then a right winger of the quality of Sanchez.
I don't see any proven top drawer right winger or striker that you will be able to prise away from any top club, and I don't think Wenger will splash out on a defender. If Aubameyang fits Avatars description of 'best in the world' then I'd go with him as a possibility. Players like Dybala at Juve would be a good option but he's not at that top level yet and so Wenger will likely not touch him, or any player in that nearly bracket, so the options are few imo. Shoulda paid £2 extra and got Suarez when the chance was there!

You're right about that Jimjam. It's Real Madrid, barca and Bayern and then everyone else for the established players. So I may be overstepping a bit. But Wenger can do what others cant, he makes players better, that's his big selling point. Anyway, he won't go. He lives for the club.

I find those comments incredibly ignorant. Look what happened at Man Utd! Moyes got the backing of SAF but was confirmed as a good but not great manager while van Gaal is still in a job because there's no one to replace him with! Once Arsène leaves Arsenal (we'll probably all be dead by then), Arsenal will face the same manager swapping and changing every 2-3 seasons.
The problem is that there is a shortage of managers who are able to cope with the pressure like Mourinho, Guardiola and Ancelotti do and will be given big jobs because the aforementioned 3 will already be employed by someone else. RM manager is fucking Rafa Benitez!

Sorry, just saw this. I take your point but it's hard to predict who will go where. The summer Ozil signed, it seemed to be up in the air whether he or Di Maria was going to make way for Bale. The fact that we're even able to compete for these players is a huge step up from three/four years ago, when we were playing Gervinho up front. If there's a 'world class' player available I'm sure we'll go for him, sentimentality be damned - if Kroos or Modric are a step up on Cazorla, Wenger would let Cazorla go (or keep him for a Rosicky-esque squad role). He's getting on anyway.

PS players not being 'at that top level yet' doesn't mean Wenger wouldn't touch him (remember this is Wenger), it just means they might not automatically improve our first XI. There are still gaps to be filled which could improve our squad. We're on the verge of signing this guy for some much-needed Coq cover, for example.

When I say that Wenger won't touch them, I'm talking about the players who aren't considered in that top bracket but will still take a large fee to get them. William Carvalho being a prime example, the go to guy when anyone is talking about buying a defensive midfielder who will cost upwards of £30mill but hasn't been tested outside of Portugal. Dybala the example I used would again likely cost you in excess of £30mill and he's only in his first season with Juve. I can definitely see Wenger bringing in players that aren't at the top level yet, and that's what Elneny is. He's a punt. A small fee, small risk cover option, who may come good but if not so what? But he's further down the ladder than the Sporting Lisbon man, by some way. Wouldn't mind him at Leicester though!

He has become something of a walking, talking stress ball. The man you seek out when you feel hard done by and need to dish out some abuse without any repercussions.

The usually affable Roberto Martinez slapped him in the face and called him a tosser the other week. Pellegrini just took it and said "thank you, boss".

If Pep is City bound, one theory is that Manuel will have known about it since the summer. The contract extention was to give him and the club some security, and he will be moved 'upstairs' into a role within the City Group come the end of the season.

On Boxing Day, asked about the speculation on being replaced by Guardiola, Pellegini said: "I am just thinking about winning against Sunderland. For me, it doesn't matter if I continue or not."

So yeah, possibly moving upstairs. At 62 you'd probably want to get the fuck out.
